• SUPPORT IUH NURSES, STOP WASTING TAXPAYER DOLLARS!
The RN's at IUH are attempting to organize a union so that they will have a voice in patient care. They would like to be able to stay home when sick, which is better for the patients. And have the supplies and supportive environment they need to provide their patients with the top-notch care they expect and deserve. IUH has launched a campaign of terror and the RN's have been harassed by management's anti union tactics which have included: 1. Management illegally asking RN's if they support a union, taking them away from providing patient care. 2. Termination of an RN for union activity which is both illegal and immoral. 3. Barring union representatives from talking to employees on hospital property, even in a public space. 4. Using taxpayer dollars to hire an outside consulting firm to "bust" the union.

  • Remove Bundy's Cows and Enforce the Laws
The people of the United States cannot allow their public lands to be destroyed by private individuals or businesses in violation of the rules and policies that protect and preserve such lands for ALL of the people. Cliven Bundy's private cattle ranching operation has been trespassing on BLM managed public lands for over twenty years, causing significant damage to sensitive lands and species. If the government officials managing these lands allow Bundy to continue breaking the law and refusing to follow numerous court orders they have lost all legitimacy and need to resign. Continued destruction of public lands through the use of lawless Militias is unacceptable.

  • Let's make a deal, Governor Jerry Brown
Not only is our water supply diminishing, but the higher levels of toxins in our water due to fracking is on the rise. Let's keep that water for our farmers to produce our food, out of reach from the corporate greed which is killing our land.

  • Congress: Call an Article V Convention to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
Congress is required, under Article 5 of the U.S. Constitution, to call a convention of delegates from each state, to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution, once applications for an Article 5 convention have been received from two thirds of the states (now 34 states). To date, over 700 applications for an Article 5 convention have been submitted to Congress, from 49 states. All of these applications are a matter of public record in the Congressional Record. Following a lawsuit, Congress has recently started counting and officially tallying the applications, but the count has been stalled at 14 of the most recent applications. Demand that House Judiciary Committee Chair Rep. Bob Goodlatte, and House Clerk Karen Haas count and publish all 766 applications submitted to date from 49 states; and call an Article V convention as Congress is REQUIRED TO DO BY LAW under the U.S. Constitution as the requirement under Article V, applications from 34 states, has been met many times over.

  • Support the Portland School Budget
Our kids' education should be our community's top priority. Mountains of academic research show that class size has long-term impacts on student achievement and success, particularly in the early grades and among disadvantaged children. This academic year, some classes at Riverton and Reiche elementary schools suffered large class sizes (25 to 27 students). Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk has proposed a modest 1.2% increase in the school budget for next year--enough to ensure appropriate class sizes. The proposed increase is below the federal government's 2015 inflation rate (1.7%) and is just a fraction of the 4-5% increases in school budgets proposed in neighboring districts, such as Falmouth and Yarmouth. Despite this, there are some that are calling for cutting our school budgets. If further cuts are made to the proposed budget, more children in the city will face very large class sizes. Please support Portland schools and smaller class sizes by voting to increase the school budget by at least 1.2% for next fiscal year.

  • Server Wage
I have been serving for a while. Most people I work with have two jobs to make ends meet, causing health issues, exhaustion and more. Most restaurant industries require servers. Every day is a gamble, and we understand that when we sign up for the job. We can't control if or when customers come in. We can control only when they are here and their experience. Either the wage from $2.13 needs to be raised or there should be a minimum automatic tip on the check. We work so hard doing all we can, and when you do your best and get nothing for a tip, when they could have gone to a fast food place. .... yes it hurts. If most people tried to serve, I'm sure they wouldn't succeed. It takes so much talent to do this job. I work two jobs myself to make ends meet. I've had many checks today, as well as other servers, not include a tip. These checks were $50.00 plus, and that's a lot of food and drinks if you think about it. Something needs to be done. Please help to raise the wage, or set an automatic tip amount per check.

  • UW: Comply with Seattle's Historic $15/hr Min Wage Ordinance
On April 1, 2015, Seattle took its first step towards a $15 minimum wage by requiring all employers with over 500 workers to pay at least $11/hr. Despite being the single largest employer in Seattle, the University of Washington administration has argued that it's not obligated to pay $15/hr to campus workers. This means that over 12,000 campus workers are at risk of not receiving a much-needed wage increase – including over 8,700 student workers, who have seen UW tuition rise 82% since 2008. Academically, UW is ranked among the best universities worldwide; unfortunately, UW is also home to an ever-growing gap between the highest-paid administrators and the lowest-paid hourly workers. Instead of increasing student fees/tuition, or cutting research funding and campus jobs, the UW can and should provide living wage jobs for ALL campus workers by redistributing funds from highly-paid administrators to the most marginalized workers on campus. If every other employer in Seattle can pay at least $15/hr, so can UW.
