Shall the Government stop violating Americans of African descent rights? As architect for a minority non profit housing operation, I observed a Federal Court without jurisdiction to hear a case hold conduct it for more then six years at great cost to HUD where the City that sued its own housing agency and the agency were both found to have "dirty hands" in an joint City-HUD audit; where the case named the a defendant wrongly which should have in any court caused the case to be immediately dismissed; where the defendant was not permitted to have an attorney; where no trial was held; where the $25 to $27 million of HUD funds (at least) that went missing or misappropriated was waived because the DOJ attorney said "now we don't have to investigate", then was shortly after appointed to the same Federal Court; and where a sanction was issued and I am threatened with jail by the Federal judge whose wife, also a Judge, laid the sanctions against me for exercising my due process rights by raising these matters. This Case is docketed at the US Supreme Court but unless there is wide public support the case will NEVER get read....As pro se, in forma pauperis no attorney asked will represent these issues. The Supreme Court understandably picks cases where they know the legal representative knows what he or she is doing, whether or not the issues have merit. This case explains the unseen background as to why a Ferguson, Missouri can happen.39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lawrence Goldblatt

PETITION TO DEMOCRATIC LEADERS: STAND STRONG ON DEBT-FREE COLLEGE!President Obama is proposing free community college, and Republicans are already opposing it. This is the kind of big idea that voters need to see Democrats stand for -- because it impacts millions of people's lives. We need to urge President Obama and Congressional Democrat to embrace this fight, and showcase it at the upcoming State of the Union. We're keeping the media and Democratic allies informed of our momentum, so they see the huge public support for progressive big ideas.10,396 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Progressive Change Campaign Committee

Congress: Support Free CollegeI have nearly $100,000 in student loans because college was an economic burden. Congress should work to pass legislation to make attending college a path to prosperity instead of a debilitating burden that harms middle and lower income Americans. Free college is the future and it's affordable for our country.564 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Melissa Byrne

Millions of Voices Against Citizens United, You in?Five years ago this month, on January 21st, the Supreme Court handed down its infamous decision on Citizens United vs. FEC, threatening to tear apart the fabric of our democracy by granting powerful corporations and wealthy donors unfettered influence in our political process. That decision paved the way for unlimited corporate political spending. Fortunately, since Citizens United, a vibrant grassroots movement has formed calling for a constitutional amendment to limit the influence of big money in politics. More than 600 towns and cities, 16 states, and 200 members of Congress have gone on record in favor of amending the Constitution. In September of this past year the United States Senate debated a proposed amendment for a full week, with 55 senators voting to advance the Democracy for All amendment that would overturn decisions like Citizens United and McCutcheon. Now, together with more than 50 organizations, MoveOn.org and our partners at Common Cause, Free Speech For People, People For the American Way, and Public Citizen are working to gather five million petition signatures calling for an amendment. So far we have already gathered more than 3.7 million signatures. These millions of petitions can help create a powerful story – and a call to action – that can be shared with members of Congress, the media and general public. Will you add your name today?54,055 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Rio Tazewell

APPROVE AMERICAN AIRLINES REQUEST TO FLY LOS ANGELES TO TOKYO-HANEDA AIRPORTAmerican Airlines is asking the Department of Transportation to transfer one of two US to Tokyo-Haneda airport (HND) slots currently held by Delta Airlines, to American Airlines. Delta currently operates LAX-HND and SEA-HND. These routes were granted, and intended to be for, *daily* operations. Delta refuses to operate their SEA-HND flight on a daily basis, as they promised to do when awarded the route. American Airlines would welcome the opportunity to compete with Delta, head-to-head, in the Los Angeles to Tokyo-Haneda market. We support the request to transfer the SEA-HND route authority held by Delta, to American Airlines for a new LAX-HND *daily* roundtrip.213 of 300 SignaturesCreated by David Ransom

Congress: Don't Trade Jobs for ProfitsHad enough of bad trade deals that hurt U.S. jobs and workers? Ever since NAFTA passed 20 years ago we've heard the rhetoric about trade deals that create jobs only to be hit with the reality later: these deals are about keeping wages low by trading U.S. jobs to the lowest bidder and protecting the profits of big corporations. Over the past few years Corporate CEOs have been setting their priorities for the biggest trade deal of them all - the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Now they want Congress to help speed things along by authorizing a special set of “Fast Track” rules for the deal so that when the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations are complete it can be pushed through without allowing time for close review, debate or amendments. It’s no wonder companies don’t want Congress to take a close look at what’s been going on behind the closed door of the negotiations. The deal gives special rights and benefits to companies that offshore investment and jobs and allows companies to attack our labor, environmental and consumer standards by suing countries that adopt legislation that might limit their future profits. Please take action today and tell your member of Congress to stand up to this corporate power grab and vote NO on Fast Track authorization for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.43 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Beth Allen

Marriott & Hilton Hotel Rooms for HomelessAfter all, we've already paid for the room thanks to your new 'one day's notice' cancellation policy and 'one night's room rate' penalty fee. We'd like something positive for our fellow man to come from our personal expense. It's a reasonable request. Thousands of business and government travelers are regularly subjected to last minute changes in travel plans beyond their control. Still, we enjoy patronizing your hotel chains and sincerely appreciate their comfort and services. So let's face facts. You know all too well that the majority of us (travelers) are required to guarantee or prepay our own reservations, in advance, for reimbursement according to company policies or GSA federal travel regulations. If we can't cancel our reservations in time to meet your new policy, the pricey one night's fee comes directly from our pockets, never qualifying for reimbursement. Federal policy prohibits payment for services not rendered. Effective Jan 1, 2015 (your policy change date), you've disqualified yourselves from federal traveler reservations via Fedrooms.com. So let's you and I (Jane or John Doe traveler) make the best of your policy with a compromise for the common good. Instead of lining your pockets with income derived from selling a single room twice or left paid for and empty, let's set up a network for contacting over-crowded shelters and homeless veterans and mothers with small children to provide them with a night of respite from their struggles. It's a wonderful idea and doable. Locally, we have this need, a very desperate need for shelter from the cold, right here in Frederick County, Maryland. And you have hotels here, 4 or more and another on the way. All we need to do is spread the word to area travelers and notify our shelter and mission. Perhaps you may help us with referrals and a streamlined process for notifying you of our substitute guest's names for check in? Friends signing this petition support this concept. We hope you will too! _________________________________________ The Inspiration: New York Times Article Nov. 17, 2014 Excerpt: Two worldwide hotel companies, Marriott and Hilton, recently announced that they would increase their fee revenue by tightening rules on last-minute reservation cancellations. Business travelers have long been accustomed to being able to cancel a reservation at many hotels, without charge, as late as 6 p.m. on the day of arrival. Effective Jan. 1, those days are gone at the two chains. The companies say that if you don’t cancel your reservation by the day before your scheduled arrival, you’ll be charged a penalty of one night’s room rate. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/18/business/marriott-and-hilton-announce-penalty-for-last-minute-cancellations.html?_r=0 ___________________________________________ Think Progress Excerpt: After WDEL published the story, Brad Wenger, general manager of the nearby Christiana Hilton, chimed in on the comments section that his hotel would offer “10 rooms to homeless individuals tonight at no charge.” He told ThinkProgress that he’s “been working with local shelters to identify individuals in need.” Indeed, with frigid temperatures in the northeast causing many local shelters to be over capacity, he didn’t expect to have trouble finding people who could benefit from the offer. http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2015/01/08/3609625/luxury-hotel-homeless-christmas-cancel/ __________________________________ Frederick News-post Alderwoman Kelly Russell reserved five rooms at the Travelodge on Monocacy Boulevard for the homeless on Friday, hoping to give some of those without shelter refuge from the cold. http://www.fredericknewspost.com/news/politics_and_government/alderman-books-travelodge-rooms-for-homeless/article_a6f6f871-1b46-591b-b502-56ad0f2223ad.html54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kimberly Mellon

Tell the WV Board of Ed to fix bad climate science standards! The West Virginia Board of Education just voted to adopt K-12 science standards that include inaccurate and misleading content about climate change. At the request of Board member Wade Linger–who denies the fact that global temperatures are rising–the Department of Education rewrote the climate science sections of the Next Generation Science Standards (1) (2). The doctored standards contain blatant errors and misrepresent the scientific consensus on climate change. For example, Linger had the standard on factors affecting rising temperatures changed to now consider “the rise ‘and fall’ of global temperatures.” The change was made as data was coming in showing 2014 to be the hottest year in recorded history, and the 38th consecutive year that yearly global temperatures were above average (3). Another Board of Education member, Tom Campbell, is on record saying that he supports changing the science standards in consideration of the role of the coal industry in the West Virginia economy (4). As a citizen of West Virginia and as a father, it is important to me to see our children receive the best education possible. Science education should be free from political agendas or from misinformation resulting from such agendas. Our children should be taught the truth and to think critically, built upon a foundation of accurate science. The new standards will be taught in West Virginia starting next year, so there is still time for the Board to fix its climate education errors. Please join me in telling the Board of Education to correct all inaccurate and misleading climate science content in the state’s new science standards. Thank you for taking action for our children and grandchildren!
