  • Make Equal Housing Opportunity TRULY equal
I am a 29 year old male and I live in the state of Tennessee, county of Davidson, city of Nashville. My roommate and I have recently started looking for a bigger apartment recently and even applied for an apartment that fit our financial needs and space. Later that day, we received noticed that we were denied due to "credit risk". I make over 3 times the base rent alone and with my roommate, we both make over 4 times the base rent. I may not have perfect credit (low 500s due to student loans), but I am still a person that is trying to make a living and have a decent home, just like everyone else. I have never been arrested, never been to jail, never been evicted, and I don't owe any properties any money. I know plenty of people that this has affected and they are also having a hard time finding a place to live. A person's credit should not be the only determining factor on if a person is eligible to rent a property. The management should look at other factors as well such as employment, previous history (as long as there are no evictions and payments are made, regardless if it is late), income, and criminal background. Make rental properties TRULY equal so that hard working Americans like myself can get the housing that they deserve.

  • Wilmington, DE Mayor Dennis Williams Needs to Go
Property values are dropping and companies are moving out of the city to avoid crime and are taking tax revenues with them. (Boy, I wonder who is going to make up that deficit? Maybe the ones who stay?) Crime is out of control and Williams' brainstorm was to introduce Coffee with a Cop. SERIOUSLY? Then Williams instituted a homicide unit, probably a year late. He also feels the need to bash articles and the media about calling the city Murdertown instead of addressing the issue. He can save faith by standing up, raising his hand, saying he is in over his head and needs some help.

  • President asked to explain the working man's benefits of the Trade Deals
All U.S. citizens will be affected by passage of these trade treaties, because 1) Jobs will once again flow out of the U.S., just as they did under NAFTA. Remember the glowing promises President Clinton made to sell NAFTA. Just the opposite has come to pass. “Fast-tracked international trade deals have led to exploding U.S. trade deficits, soaring food imports into the U.S., increased off-shoring of American jobs, and an unprecedented rise in income inequality”, according to a compilation and analysis of 20 years of trade and economic data released January 15 2015 by the watchdog group Public Citizen. and, 2) These treaties create international tribunals, composed of corporate attorneys, that allow corporations to challenge and override domestic laws or regulations of the signatory nation that might adversely impact the corporation's “expected future profits”. This process would undermine our sovereignty and subvert democratically passed laws, including those dealing with labor (wages, benefits, and collective bargaining), health (food safety, for example), and the environment (creating immense pressure for all signatory nations to adopt the least restrictive environmental standards). These treaties would greatly accelerate a global race to the bottom, where the taxpayers of a nation-state might be required to reimburse a global corporation (for its supposed loss of “expected future profits”?!?) No one has asked the President to explain the treaties from the workers’ perspective. At the macroeconomic level, he can “sell’ these treaties like Clinton sold NAFTA and demand fast track treatment. As citizens, our voice is not being heard. In our country, we have the right to expect that our President will address our concerns, especially when many of us press that expectation on him.

  • Oliver Outdoor Advertising: Turn Off the Digital Billboard
This case is an example of the ongoing and rampant abuse of the public realm by the billboard industry. Everyone deserves a good night's sleep, even if billboard companies feel otherwise.

  • Beards for Army: Revise AR 670-1
I think all men should be allowed to have a beard while in the military as long as it kept trimmed. If you allow it for religious reasons, it should be allowed for everyone, no matter their religion.

  • SD 170----No Charter Schools
We are showing a united front against the possibility of the Charter School coming to SD 170 and impacting our District's future. Allowing LEARN Charter School to come into SD 170 is not in the best interest of our students and staff. LEARN wants to take over our students by September 2015.......KEEP THEM OUT OF OUR STUDENTS' EDUCATION!

  • Stop Sanderson from Spoiling Sampson
The Sampson County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to let Sanderson Farms know, by letter, that they are interested in having a high-volume chicken processing plant built in Sampson County. The recruitment of Sanderson Farms should be stopped. Two other counties in this state have already voiced their opinion; and they do not want Sanderson Farms. We should not want them either.
