We The PeopleI turned 80 this past year. I have lived through a lot of history: World War 2, the invention and proliferation of nuclear and chemical weapons, space explorations, the movements for civil rights, workers rights, women's rights, marriage rights, questionable wars, global conflicts, our perpetual state of war, growing economic inequality and corporate greed... I am proud to stand with those of the younger generation in the fight for peace, justice and equality!44 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carol JOY Haupt

It's time for full equality! In too many states, it’s still legal to discriminate against LGBT Americans. Whether it’s in housing, public accommodations or in the workplace, it has to stop. We’ve made incremental progress, but it isn’t enough. In 14 states where we’ve won victories on marriage equality, someone could marry their same-sex partner legally on Saturday and then get fired for being gay on Monday. That’s wrong. We acted to ban discrimination on the basis of race, gender, national origin, and religion. Now it's time for the next step: a comprehensive act that affords to LGBT Americans the full equality that all Americans deserve. Add your name today and join the chorus of Americans calling for full LGBT equality. Help us get it done!9,978 of 10,000 SignaturesCreated by Senator Jeff Merkley

President Obama, Please Pardon Attorney Stanley L. CohenStanley L. Cohen is an attorney, international human rights activist, and a true American Hero fighting for justice and defending our Constitution. Stanley is an advocate for many people the government would like to silence or put in jail: Palestinian freedom fighters, Muslim preachers, North American natives living on Indian reservations, marijuana dealers, anti-war protestors, radical squatters, the homeless, "hacktivists", anti-Zionists and everyone in between. Mr. Cohen has been unfairly targeted by U.S. authorities who seek to silence him and end his law practice. Recently, after years of unfair prosecution and hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees, Mr. Cohen has pled guilty to charges of "impeding the IRS" and has been sentenced to 18 months in prison beginning on January 6, 2015. In October 2014 Stanley Cohen traveled to the Middle East to negotiate the release of American Aid Worker Peter Abdul-Rahman Kassig who was held hostage by ISIS captors. Talks to save Peter Abdul-Rahman Kassig went on for weeks, backed by the U.S. Kassig was killed by his Isis captors on 16 November after one of the prime negotiators, a Muslim cleric, was arrested and imprisoned in Jordan. See the full story in the Guardian and you will understand how vital it is that Stanley remain free: http://www.theguardian.com/news/2014/dec/18/-sp-the-race-to-save-peter-kassig Stanley is HERO, a dear friend and trusted advisor. He always puts the cause of justice, human rights and the needs of others for legal representation above himself. One minute in prison is one minute too much. Stanley must remain free to continue his lifelong dedication to the practice of law. Please stand together to seek justice for Stanley L. Cohen and ask President Obama to pardon him and keep him free.1,206 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Free Stanley Cohen

Tell Gov. Brewer to Drop The Lawsuit Attacking Arizona Immigrants and FamiliesRecently, the State of Arizona joined a host of other states in suing the federal government over the President's executive action on immigration. In addition to subjecting thousands of Arizona families to deportation, this lawsuit, if successful, would deny work permits to thousands of Arizona immigrants and deprive Arizona of a massive $100 million in much-needed tax revenue over the next five years. President Obama had to act on immigration after Republicans in Congress chose to do nothing. And despite the fact that President Obama's immigration action will benefit countless families in Arizona and generate millions of dollars in taxes, Gov. Jan Brewer and Attorney General Tom Horne are joining with their political partisans to block it. When it comes to anti-immigrant records, no governor comes close to Jan Brewer. She was on the wrong side of history when it came to the state’s controversial SB 1070, and the Supreme Court recently denied her attempt to strip driver’s licenses from DREAMers. Why does she keep attacking the immigrants who keep Arizona thriving? We need Gov. Brewer and her administration to immediately end the lawsuit against President Obama and stop the attacks against immigrant workers and families living in Arizona. They are part of our state and they deserve a way to become documented residents, not shunned and set up for deportation.721 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Gabe Ortiz

Tell Gov. Scott to Drop The Lawsuit Attacking Florida Immigrants and FamiliesRecently, the State of Florida joined a host of other states in suing the federal government over the President's executive action on immigration. In addition to subjecting thousands of Florida families to deportation, this lawsuit, if successful, would deny work permits to thousands of Florida immigrants and deprive Florida of a massive $102 million in much-needed tax revenue over the next five years. President Obama had to act on immigration after Republicans in Congress chose to do nothing. And despite the fact that President Obama's immigration action will benefit countless families in Florida and generate millions of dollars in taxes, Gov. Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi are joining with their political partisans to block it. Gov. Scott signed the Florida DREAM Act, helping young immigrants access in-state tuition. But this lawsuit changes everything. We need Gov. Scott and his administration to immediately end the lawsuit against President Obama and stop the attacks against immigrant workers and families living in Florida. They are part of our state and they deserve a way to become documented residents, not shunned and set up for deportation.456 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Gabe Ortiz

Patrick Lynch: Step down as President of NYC Police UnionPatrick Lynch, President of the NYC Police Union, recently told a gathering of police officers "Our friends, we’re courteous to them. Our enemies, extreme discretion. The rules are made by them to hurt you. Well now we’ll use those rules to protect us.” The enemies he is talking about are anyone who opposes the grand jury decision in the case of Eric Garner, those who oppose police policy. He has even identified NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio as an enemy. His thinly veiled threat to use "extreme discretion" is very dangerous when coming from the head of the union that represents the largest police force in the country and rivals many national militaries in the world. Patrick Lynch is a a dangerous extremist who should not be leading the NYC Police Union.106 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Joseph Phelan

BCOA Board - Storage Room ReconsiderationFirstly, let us express our appreciation for the efforts of the Board of Directors and its managing Agent, in particular through many of the recent difficulties and challenges. Also, we completely understand the importance of compliance with City regulations and the need to be mindful of liability issues. However, many of the Bayside Court Community are concerned about the imminent evacuation and structural plans for the storage room.25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andrew Stark

UMKC let Disabled Veteran return to classesI am a Service Connected Disabled Veteran. I was expelled under a pretext. UMKC wanted to make me go away. The Department of Education wanted me to stop filing charges that they were allowing the directors of Civil Rights departments to work for the very Universities that they were suppose to regulate. I did nothing wrong but advocate for disabled students, ask for a disabled student council, and ask where was all the Federal funding for Disabled Students. I need your signature to tell Universities around the country that Disabled Students in Higher Education have rights. We have a right to accommodations. We have civil rights that are supposed to be enforced by the Department of Education.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Vincent Cannady

PRESIDENT OBAMA: ACCEPT THE STATE OF PALESTINEThis petition asks the United States to follow the call by over one hundred Palestinian leaders and organizations and almost one thousand Israeli public figures for recognition of the state of Palestine alongside Israel, living in peace and security for both people. Already 135 United Nations member states (70%) have recognized the state of Palestine, and European and other states now are considering doing so. The drive for recognition of the state of Palestine is being led by the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and is supported by a majority of the Palestinian people who are citizens of Israel, and those living in the occupied territories of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. Recognition of Palestine is a step toward resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict, although it will not resolve the conflict. Rather it is a symbolic action to show support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and freedom from occupation, and sends a message to the Israeli and United States governments that occupation must end in a way that all people in the region have political, civil, and human rights. For that and other reasons, recognition of Palestine is in the best interest of the United States and the community of nations. This petition calls upon the President and government of the United States to recognize the state of Palestine and accept Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. A strong showing of support for Palestinian recognition among Americans is especially important as the Obama Administration considers how it will act when Palestinian membership and the Israel-Palestine issue are debated in the U.N. Security Council over the next several months. We must do all we can to prevent an American veto of Palestinian recognition.1,479 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by LA Jews for Peace
