I have been disabled (unable to work) since December 18, 2012, and have received nothing from a system that I have paid into for over 45 years. I worked 30 of those years here in the state of Nevada. I like many others here in this state have no recourse. The governor's office has been of no help. I am a U.S. Army Veteran and now I need your help.

Gerrymandering is a major cause of dysfunction in our government. That affects all of us! There is legislation pending in Pennsylvania; however, if it is not passed during this legislative session pressure on our legislators should continue.

It feels it's being managed by people whom do not want to be in the soap business, but these shows are a staple in American television as was "Guiding Light" and "As The World Turns" (the 1st & 2nd American TV programs ever which were cancelled in 2009 & 2010 respectively). They need to either hire Ed Scott as Executive Producer and Kay Alden as Headwriter (the team that brought the show to #1 back in 1989) or sell both shows to OWN!

The New York City DHS (Department of Homeless Services) and AFIC (Adult Family Intake Center) approval processes for homeless families do not provide the resources or stability that families need in order to overcome poverty. I am asking that ONCE A FAMILY IS PLACED IN TEMPORARY SHELTER THEY ARE NOT REMOVED UNTIL PERMANENT HOUSING IS AVAILABLE. THAT THE FAMILIES ARE PLACED IN ONE SHELTER AND NOT BOUNCED AROUND, AND THAT THE FUNDS (which range from $2,000-$3,800 especially if you have kids) BE UTILIZED TO PERMANENTLY HOUSE THE FAMILIES IN CO-OPS, DUPLEX HOUSING, AND PRIVATE HOUSES.

This fight has not ended! Last year Marilyn Louie's old newsstand was replaced by a woefully inadequate space to sell anything. The new stand provides only enough space to place 20 newspapers, about a 40% size reduction. Though there was tremendous community and political outcry, the DOT went ahead with their plans. Mayor DeBlasio as Public Advocate supported Marilyn's fight, NOW that he is Mayor, he has the authority to give Marilyn a stand big enough to scrape a living out of.
