  • Joni Ernst to take the Minimum Wage Challenge
Because the wage is too low, and she believes that it is okay. I have lived off of this and cannot get by. People are homeless because of the wage, and it needs to increase. Only she believes it is too high. We cannot have someone in power like this!!!!!!!!

  • Calling on Monica Wehby to denounce the Koch brothers
The Koch brothers have come to Oregon. Monica Wehby is running unseat progressive champion Senator Jeffrey Merkley from the U.S. Senate. The Koch brothers, and their billionaire friends, are throwing millions of dollars into her campaign to help make it happen! The Koch brothers think that they can buy the Senate. They believe that if they can spend enough money they can convince voters to see past Wehby's conservative agenda. But, Oregonians can't be bought.

  • Rep. Denham: Stop corporate tax treason
Right now, a corporation can dodge billions in taxes just by buying a company in another country, then claiming to be headquartered there. It's known as an "inversion" and it's just another way big companies can avoid paying their fair share. Today it's Burger King, but there are a lot more companies lining up behind them. Last month, public pressure stopped Walgreens from moving abroad. Over the last few weeks, we have put Burger King on notice about their move to Canada. Now it's time we close this loophole altogether. It's time to plug the loophole and stop companies from leaving and forcing the rest of us to pick up the tab. We can't let big corporations continue to dodge taxes with highly paid tax lawyers--everyone should play by the same rules. How can we invest in education or job growth if large, profitable companies are scheming to avoid paying their fair share? We have a real opportunity to close this loophole right now--but we've got to strike while the iron is hot. With all the scrutiny being paid to this issue while Burger King is in the process of declaring itself a Canadian company, we can push lawmakers to take up the issue. So far, Rep. Jeff Denham hasn't signed on in support of this commonsense idea--that's why we need people like you to take action.

  • President Obama: Regulate Dangerous Oil by Rail!
25 million Americans are in danger from exploding oil trains. Last month — after a record year of unsafe oil trains derailing, spilling, and exploding across the country — President Obama proposed new regulations for unsafe tank cars. But shockingly, these new rules actually protect industry profits while sacrificing public safety and the health of our air and water.
