• No More War!
I feel the people's voice is ignored! I walk a path of Peace. I want my government to walk this path with me. Our military service people are just that-- people! We have sacrificed enough of them. President Obama, would you send your daughter to Iraq? A bomb is a weapon of mass destruction. Would you have a bomb fall on Washington? Thankfully we did not bomb Syria, even though thousands of innocent people were dying. How can we now consider continuing to bomb Iraq because two journalists were beheaded? The mandate by the president for war is neither logical nor warranted. I did not vote for a president who was going to send us back into war. I voted for a president who would end the terror and bring our veterans home. Enough is enough! We cannot afford more war. Build peace at home. Build peace in Florida and Ferguson Missouri. War in Iraq is not the answer. We have learned this at a high cost in the last thirteen years. Aggression is not the answer. America, take care of our own very big wounds that our government has caused to our nation. Let us not bring more death and sorrow to our planet.

Many more people suffer and die in the U.S. due to domestic policies that neglect the immediate need to improve infrastructure, bolster security and crime prevention and reduce poverty and long-term unemployment than those that die from terrorist groups. I strongly believe we need to redirect our attention and resources to focus on the needs of the American people first and show global leadership by example rather than promoting a financially and emotionally damaging state of perpetual war.

  • Another loss for veterans and another win for the military industrial complex?
My family has many veterans who have been physically and psychologically harmed by the recent wars, and they already are not receiving proper care. Please don't make it worse.

  • Mercury President Goncharenko: Dump Dictator Museveni, Who Once Praised Hitler-- Return $600,000...
Uganda's dictator Gen. Museveni has ruled Uganda by the barrel of a gun and hate campaigns for 28 years. His army has invaded neighboring Congo causing the deaths of millions and much destruction. Early this year he declared that Gays were "disgusting" and promoted attacks against Uganda's LGBT community when he signed the anti-Homosexuality act. His resume is filled with hateful statements: He once said "Hitler was a smart guy, but I think he went a bit too far by wanting to conquer the world” and told The Atlantic Magazine in September 1994 “I have never blamed the whites for colonizing Africa: I have never blamed these whites for taking slaves. If you are stupid, you should be taken a slave.” He doesn't care that Uganda's hospitals have no medicines and schools lack books: In 2011 the U.K.'s The Daily Mail reported that he diverted $50 million in foreign aid money to purchase a private Gulfstream Jet. http://tinyurl.com/63xbcff Now he's diverted $600,000 that can go to Uganda's hospitals and schools to pay Mercury llc, an American PR agent, to "spin" positive tales about his regime.

  • Rep. Rigell: Plug the "Burger King" loophole
Right now, a corporation can dodge billions in taxes just because it buys a company in another country, then claims to be headquartered there. It's known as an "inversion" and it's just another way big companies can avoid paying their fair share. Today it's Burger King, but there are a lot more companies lining up behind them. Last month, public pressure stopped Walgreens from moving abroad. Over the last few weeks, we have put Burger King on notice about their move to Canada. Now it's time we close this loophole all together. It's time to plug this loophole, and stop companies from leaving and forcing the rest of us to pick up the tab. We can't let big corporations continue to dodge taxes with high paid tax lawyers -- everyone should play by the same rules. How can we invest in education or job growth if large, profitable companies are scheming to avoid paying their fair share? We have a real opportunity to close this loophole right now -- but we've got to strike while the iron is hot. With all the scrutiny being paid to this issue while Burger King is in the process of declaring itself a Canadian company, we can push lawmakers to take up the issue. So far, Rep. Scott Rigell hasn't signed on in support of this common-sense idea -- that's why we need people like you take action.

  • Walt Disney World: Keep families together
While visiting the Florida theme parks with my family I was appalled to learn that WDW's policy for their attractions is such: If a person does not meet the height requirement for an attraction they are not allowed to stand in the queue for that attraction. This includes any aged child. The problem with this restrictive policy is that parents are now forced to be separated from their children. Example situations: A grandparent takes a 4 year old and a 7 year old to an attraction at the Magic Kingdom. The 4 year old is not tall enough to ride but the 7 year old is. The grandparent now has to stay outside the attraction with the younger child and the older child is forced to wait in the line alone or not ride at all. A mom and dad with a 1 year old would like to use the "Child Swap" option at an attraction. The 1 year old is not allowed to be in the queue. The parents must now wait separately. One in line alone, one out side the attraction with the baby. It is unfair to ask children to be separated from their families. It is unfair to ask families to be separated from one another. Walt Disney World, Please reconsider this restrictive policy that puts families in compromised situations!
