In the interest of Sonoma County and the area surrounding the Sonoma County Central Landfill, stop further pollution of Stemple Creek. The goals are to safeguard the aquifer that is a source of water for the community; assist our neighbors with air, noise, odor, and water pollution caused by the Central Landfill Composting operation; and protect the rights of the ranchers, farmers, public, and wildlife that all use Stemple, Washoe, and Gossage Creeks and their estuaries. Sonoma County Waste Management Agency made the decision to continue to dump millions of gallons of waste into Stemple Creek over the next few years knowing it is a violation of federal and state law. and they have been cited and threatened with fines to no avail. Its time this serious violation of State and Federal standards is stopped.

We may be on the verge of another costly, open-ended war in the Middle East. President Obama has authorized surveillance flights over Syria. The New York Times called the surveillance flights “a significant step toward direct American military action in Syria.”[1] Obama Administration officials have suggested that U.S. airstrikes against “Islamic State” fighters in Iraq could expand to attacks against “Islamic State” fighters in Syria. [2] But we have a way to try to slow expansion of the US military campaign—and to keep us from getting entangled in another endless war. In July, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H. Con. Res. 105, stating that Congressional authorization must precede any “sustained combat mission” in Iraq. By insisting now that the President come to them before expanding the use of force - as required by the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution - Congress can slow the rush to war, creating space for diplomatic and political efforts to address the underlying causes of the war. If Congress restricts any authorization of force with a time limit, we will be less likely to find ourselves in another endless war. [4] Tell President Obama and Congress that there must be no blank check to expand airstrikes in Iraq or expand airstrikes into Syria. Sign our petition to help prevent another rush to endless war. In the greatest rope-a-dope since Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman in the "Rumble in the Jungle", please encourage Warren Buffett's effort to withdraw his support for Burger King's tax inversion plan and take action against a "Do-Nothing" Congress which has failed to enact reform on taxes, innovation and immigration. Competition and ethics have driven Mr. Buffett's success and it is well past time that Congress acts in the same manner as a beloved American company and global business icon.

There are a couple children who attend Crawford County R-II school(s) that have a life threatening allergy to nuts. If providing a "nut-free" environment is impossible, then please help push for the proper training of the staff to provide a "nut-aware" environment for these children. Proper cleaning supplies need to be used, all children who consume nut products must wash hands with soap and water afterwards, and all staff needs to be trained on how to properly handle a severe allergic reaction if one was to occur.

My name is Francis Barbour Jr. and my father has refused to supply his tax transcripts to my FAFSA because his wife (my step-mother) doesn't like me. I have filed taxes myself for the past three years, and haven't lived with him for eight years, but am unable to continue attending my university because I require his tax information on my financial aid application. I have a 3.5 GPA, have two years left on my degree, and have lost out on my scholarships because of this issue.

There are no long term safety studies that prove systemic pesticides are safe for humans and feed animals. Certain studies done in other countries have shown harm from these chemicals to animals, however, we in the US do no independent studies outside of those done by the companies with vested financial interests in the products. Such use/practices call for the Precautionary Principle to stop such use until studies and peer review of the studies can take place.

We want Petitioner's to share their own experiences, to help build a better understanding about how the industry is actually working and how it can be improved. We look forward to hearing from you. Most people have to handle an insurance claim once every several years. They are generally at a huge disadvantage when it comes to understanding the system and how insurance companies work. Through this petition we hope to level the playing field to force insurance companies to deal fairly with their policy holders.

The Huffington Post just leaked recordings of a secret talk that Senate candidate Joni Ernst gave at the exclusive, closed-door meeting that Charles and David Koch hosted for as many as 300 billionaires earlier this summer.[1,2] She never meant for anyone other than those billionaire conservatives to hear or see this: "The exposure to this group and to this network and the opportunity to meet so many of you, that really started my trajectory." I was born and raised in Iowa, and I think it's time to clean up Iowa's elections. Senate candidate Bruce Braley can do that by challenging Joni Ernst to join him in signing the People's Pledge--the popular agreement negotiated by Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown in their 2012 Senate race to keep elections clean and accountable to the people of their state by rejecting advertisements from outside donors on their behalf. Support for the People's Pledge is strong across party lines-- in fact, voters are five times more likely to vote for a candidate who supports the People’s Pledge.[3] A candidate who's more committed to Iowa's voters than to out-of-state donors should have no trouble signing on. As Ernst credits the Koch network for her rise, Braley challenging her to shun outside money will help voters understand who each candidate is really working for. Sources: 1. I am starting this petition to save lives and to make the country safer and more just for my daughter and myself and everyone. This is my home. I don't want to have to move to England, where I don't have to worry about as much gun violence. This is a fight to make our homeland a better place without running to a gated community or suburbs or a safer city.
