• U.S. Dept. of Justice-Investigate biotech industries
The biotech industries are about to approve stronger toxic chemicals to be sprayed on our food. The USDA and FDA are only working for the sake of corporations and not doing anything for "we the people". This insanity has got to stop!

  • Boycott Walgreens
I am starting this petition because Congress is not/will not do anything about unfair laws that benefit corporations at the expense of average people and the general welfare of our country. As individuals we have the power to make Walgreens reconsider this move.

  • It's Time to Fight Back:
To stop the behind-door handshaking; to claim back our natural beauty. It's high time the DEP, the EPA, and the City and County work together and clean this up instead of hide from the problem. When I say there are problems--there are problems. Who monitors their own emissions??? Well, Argos does and the city of Newberry let them after offering them 7 years tax-free - with the promise of annexing in Argos (or who ever owns this factory at the time). Money Money Money. I am worth more than money, as well as is all of us. I'm starting this petition because I have been its victim. I have been diagnosed with COPD, which is a slow, deadly pulmonary disease caused by toxic smoke; the toxic smoke they let out every morning before light in order to keep those kilns cranking.

  • No child should be denied medical services because their parents cannot afford to pay.
My daughter's family has gone bankrupt due to medical expenses for their very ill child. This happened DESPITE having 'insurance'. They can barely afford decent food even though both are working. Extended family has helped out as much as they can. There is a very negative ripple effect when a crisis as described above happens: not only the immediate family is traumatized, but extended family and friends as well. Lives are put on hold, productivity goes down, depression sets in. It is in everyone's interest that we unconditionally take care of our young, if not out of noble intentions, then because the young will eventually be the ones who take care of us. HOW they take care of us may well be determined by how well we take care of them.

  • No Heliport in North Fork
Over 100 residents have voiced opposition to the construction of a heliport as it will disrupt the lifestyle of the Loudoun Valley. There is an existing helipad at the Leesburg Executive airport suitable for use. The Coalition to Keep Western Loudoun Peaceful has been started specifically for this effort.

  • Stop Wasting Millions on a Political Stunt
Speaker John Boehner and House Republicans are moving forward with a taxpayer-funded lawsuit against President Obama, because President Obama has used his executive authority to get things done while Congress has dithered. In a recent membership vote, 88% of MoveOn members said that if John Boehner launched this wasteful lawsuit, then holding him accountable should be a top MoveOn priority. So we're fighting back. Together, we can elevate the profile of this ridiculous lawsuit, expose it as partisan politics at its worst, and ensure that it damages the GOP brand, backfiring on Republicans in the November elections.

  • Cuomo: Come Clean!
The New York Times published a disturbing report based on a 3-month investigation on Gov. Andrew Cuomo's interference with the work of the Moreland Commission that was created to address corruption in Albany, a commission he started himself and then closed when it began looking into organizations that did business with his campaign. According to the story, when the commission issued a subpoena to a firm that was related to Cuomo, Cuomo’s aid contacted a commission co-chair and told him, “This is wrong” and then “Pull it back.” The commission then did. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Gov. Cuomo started this commission and grabbed headlines as a reformer, but he's now been seen repeatedly and directly obstructing the investigation when the investigation turned to his dealings. This kind of violation of public trust is the deepest problem we have with our democracy today. These kinds of corruptive practices create a broken democracy and keep many of us on the sidelines, disappointed with what our representative government can do. It must be rooted out immediately. Join us in demanding that Cuomo resign now. If all of these reports are true, he has lost all credibility when it comes to reforming Albany - he represents the problem, not the solution. • Revise the Laws that hold non viloent offenders locked away for years and in many cases a lifetime.
We have a mandate to turn the tide, now. Our laws do not reflect the belief or desires of more than a majority the people. Certain organizations, i.e. MADD , have caused the pendulum to swing much to far, leaving us with a knee jerk reaction to a crime, in place of a reasonable approach to a real problem. The mandatory sentence for offenses exceed the sentence given to violent criminals for crimes like rape and murder. We have huge numbers of persons locked away for what are non violent crimes, the punishment does not fit the crime. My 33 year old son is looking at 25 years to life for a DUI and as I look at the laws I am floored by the insanity. We have problems with "substance abuse" in our society, no doubt, but locking a person away does not address the problem. We need some changes in our laws so that justice is reflected in the sentences handed down to the humans that are suffering with such afflictions.

  • Free an innocent man
My petition is to bring my husband home a free man. He was wrongfully convicted. In 2009 our family was going on vacation to Galveston, Texas to spend some time with our best friends. My best friends' daughter and our daughter were best friends for 10 years. Their daughter practically lived with us as her parents worked all the time. We took her everywhere with us, including on vacation. Two weeks before we went on vacation, she shared with my husband and me that she had been messing around with a guy in the back of his pickup truck. She was about to have her very first womanly check up and knew that her parents could very well be about to find out she was no longer a virgin. We were gone on vacation for a little over a week. When we returned home she told her parents that my husband sexually assaulted her. We went to trial in August 2012. During the trial she was caught in several lies. She admitted that during the time she made these accusations she was having a consensual sexual relationship with a 35 year old man. Keep in mind she was only 14. She told the court that the only thing she slept in was a tank top and her panties. We produced a photo into evidence that was time stamped and dated and it was her sleeping in a T-shirt with a tank top under it and shorts. So while I now have 4 children at home to raise, she is out partying and drinking. We have always been good people. We just do not understand how something like this could have happened to us. Please, I beg of you to take the time to help me bring my husband home to us. He was incarcerated August 28, 2012. If you have any questions about any if this, including the case, please do not hesitate to ask me. Thank you in advance.
