• Tell Johns Hopkins Hospital their workers deserve $15 an hour!
My name is Cory McCray and I just won a primary election to serve the hardworking families of Baltimore City. That commitment starts now. Many of Johns Hopkins Hospital's employees earn a starting salary of $11 per hour—not enough to afford even the most basic household needs in the Baltimore area. After demonstrations and strikes, Johns Hopkins Hospital administration offered a 1.75% pay increase over the next four years. For workers making $11 per hour, that equates to a less than 20-cent-per-hour increase. Johns Hopkins Hospital has a global reputation for excellence in medical research and patient care. However, for the people who work there, Johns Hopkins Hospital is best known for it insufficient wages. Stand with me to demand that Johns Hopkins Hospital does right by their workers and pays a fair living wage.

  • Stop a massive attack on the Clean Air Act in PA
Our politicians in Harrisburg are poised to vote in the next 48 hours to hurt the EPA's ability to tackle global warming pollution. HB 2354 attacks EPA's historic effort to limit carbon pollution from power plants -- the single largest source of global warming pollution. Not surprisingly, the biggest global warming polluters are trying to stop this proposal dead in its tracks--and they’ve convinced some politicians in Harrisburg to join them. The General Assembly in Harrisburg is scheduled to vote on House Bill 2354, which would undermine the Clean Power Plan. Specifically, the bill would add new administrative hurdles, introduce debilitating delays and hurt Pennsylvania's ability to comply with the Clean Air Act. Ask your legislator to stand up for solutions to global warming—and oppose HB2354.

  • Clemency or Pardon for Leonard Peltier
This is the 39th year Leonard has been imprisoned with the full knowledge that there is no proof of guilt. The government has admitted this fact. The us courts acknowledgement of both FBI and prosecutorial misconduct alone are grounds to release Leonard Peltier NOW.

  • 7-8 Yrs is Too Long to Wait for a Diagnosis of a Disease
I care for two grandchildren with rare diseases. The length of the diagnostic process is testimony to the lack of knowledge that exists within the field of medicine regarding rare disorders; the lack of a diagnosis is a major roadblock to identifying the number of people affected, the manner in which they are affected and ultimately stymies science that secures cures and treatments.

  • Storm chaser law Act 24
We as storm restoration contractor's lose thousands of dollars every year. Homeowners sign into a contract to have work performed which then we finance their job until the insurance company pays the rcv amount when the repairs are completed . Homeowner receives check and some forget to turn the check over to contractor. Act 24 is a new law that went into affect January 1, 2014 which protects the insurance company ! Example: Contractor starts repairs the insurance company missed 2nd layer of shingles. Contractor supplements insurance company for additional funds. Insurance company denies the funds the homeowner then can cancel within 3 days and be refunded their money. Even if the repairs are done. Another example Act 24 does not allow the contractor to talk policy nor pricing with the insured or the insurance company ! Most homeowners do not understand how the claim process works. We are honest people here making a living for our families and the insurance companies are making us out to be bad people. Wtmj Am 620 had a show last week on this Act 24 and what a show it was! Let's get this law revised and protect the contractor , insured and the insurance company !

  • COSTCO is supporting Koch companies
I'm a single working mother on a very limited income. I like to shop at Costco because they treat their employees well, carry many organic products, and have good prices. However, I am very disturbed to find out that my money is supporting the Koch brothers through items such as Dixie cups and plates. I don't want a dime of my money to go to any company they own or in which they have stock options. Please help cut off the supply that feeds those greedy, prejudiced, corrupt brothers.

  • AN OPEN LETTER TO THE ARKANSAS LEGISLATURE
Educators are the most critical partners with parents in developing solid citizens who contribute to the strength and well-being of the State. It is unconscionable that they should not have the same access to health insurance provided other state employees. The attempt to even further restrict access to meaningful health care is a statement that they are devalued; yet, we all know -at least those who use public education- the importance of their contribution to our children and our state.

  • Better nutrition for kids in hospitals
Our goal is to make nutrition healthier for kids beyond the issues of obesity and school lunches and to expand into the hospital setting. We have firsthand experience with the food in hospitals as we have been in and out with our 11 year old son who has been recently diagnosed with lymphoma. We would like Michigan to be a role model for other states and take this issue across the country!
