• Terminate Professor Ersula Ore's Employment with ASU.
A simple request to provide ID has become a national embarrassment for ASU. Professor Ore's violent assault on a police officer who was simply trying to do his job highlights a serious problem with her personal character. These flaws became more apparent when Professor Ore had the audacity to have her lawyer make insinuations of sexual assault via news media to justify her attack on a police officer. Her actions are a disgrace to the position of Professor and to ASU. Professor Ore's actions paint a grim picture of educators at ASU. Her behavior is unbecoming of an educator who is in the position to shape young minds, and it is for this reason that ASU must terminate her employment immediately.

  • Tax the Rich
We see the tax burden shifting to the poor. "Full-time workers earning between $20,000 and $150,000 a year – still pay at up to double the rate of the ultra-wealthy, relative to what history suggests they should" (Von Worley, 2011). A significant tax cut in Ohio will shift $400 million away from public services and into wealthy pockets in 2015: "The top 1 percent will get a tax cut for the year averaging $1,846, while the poorest fifth of Ohioans will see just a $4 reduction" (Policy Matters Ohio, 2014; See also photobucket). Many of the wealthy make such an excess of money that they are determining laws and Supreme Court legal decisions "through the back door". Congress persons must take action to raise the tax rate on the wealthy so the the American people can decide how to distribute all that excess wealth and what fair laws should be written -- independently of financial influence. • Housing For People With Records
To help disabled people who have families and a criminal record get a fair chance at housing. It's messed up when they put you on the waiting list wait til you get to the top, set up an interview, and then deny you, have you come back for an appeal, and then say no.

  • New Jersey State Board of Education: Teach our kids climate science!
Some ideas shouldn’t be up for debate. The earth travels around the sun. What goes up must come down. Climate change is happening. If this sounds uncontroversial, that’s because it is. The truth of human-caused climate change is backed by resounding scientific consensus supported by data gathered from decades of rigorous, peer-reviewed research. But a loud and well-funded fringe have gone to war against our children’s right to learn about climate change. They’ve launched coordinated attacks in each state that has considered adopting Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), a set of education standards meant to ensure that kids learn 21st century science, including climate science. Worse, they’ve won some battles: in April, for instance, Wyoming became the first state to block NGSS. Now the fight for climate science education has come to New Jersey. The New Jersey State Board of Education is scheduled to vote on science education standards during its meeting on July 9. When Michael Heinz, the science coordinator for the NJ Department of Education, was asked whether there were any obstacles to adopting NGSS, his reply was clear: "External political influence that has an issue with human-induced climate change or evolution," he said. "Those are really the only two things." We must keep that from happening. With superstorms, flooding, sea-level rise, and other climate change impacts intesifying, our children must have the tools to understand, analyze, and formulate solutions to deal with a rapidly changing climate. That’s why it’s important that you, along with other New Jerseyeans and allies from around the nation, speak up now. Let's make sure that the Board of Education hears from parents, grandparents and other supporters of climate science education loudly and clearly before they vote this month. Tell them to vote to adopt Next Generation Science Standards that include climate science education.

  • Whole Foods, Stop Carrying Eden Foods!
I am a physician and reproductive rights activist. I am shocked that Eden, a company that "sells" good health, subscribes to the religious ban on birth control that has caused women so much sickness and misery--historically in the US and right now throughout the world. See http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(12)60609-6/abstract Whole Foods is the place I have bought my Eden products in the past. It would be highly effective if this giant corporation took responsible action. Tell Eden that good health is more than food.

  • Sue the Republican Party
John Boehner, John McCain and other Republicans have suggested suing President Obama for "overstepping his bounds." What about how far the Republicans have overstepped their own bounds and acted against this country: the lying, the cheating, the squandering of tax dollars, the careless loss of American lives in manufactured wars? They must be called to account. Let's sue them, not the President.

  • Make Dunkin' Donuts GMO-Free!
Dunkin' Donuts is one of the largest coffee and donut companies in the world. Over the years, they've changed their original donut recipe (which contained a standard list of basic ingredients) to a toxic concoction of GMO ingredients, including corn, soy and canola, in addition to artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. The 2014 Dunkin' Donuts Press Kits states that "People everywhere appreciate what Dunkin’ Donuts offers: high quality food and beverages served all day in a friendly, fast environment." They go on to describe their "dream team of acclaimed chefs" who create "new and innovative menu choices." When you compare these claims side-by-side with the ingredient list on some of their most popular items, this sounds like nothing more than propaganda. For example, check out the ingredients list for the popular Boston Kreme Donut and ask yourself if these sounds like high quality ingredients compiled by acclaimed culinary experts: Enriched Unbleached Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Iron as Ferrous Sulfate, Thiamin Mononitrate, Enzyme, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Palm Oil, Water, Dextrose, Soybean Oil, Whey (a milk derivative), Skim Milk, Yeast, Contains less than 2% of the following: Salt, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda), Defatted Soy Flour, Wheat Starch, Mono and Diglycerides, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Cellulose Gum, Soy Lecithin, Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, Artificial Flavor, Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative), Enzyme, Colored with (Turmeric and Annatto Extracts, Beta Carotene), Eggs; Bavarian Kreme Filling: Water, Sugar Syrup, Modified Food Starch, Corn Syrup, Palm Oil, Contains 2% or less of the following: Natural and Artificial Flavors, Glucono Delta Lactone, Salt, Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate (Preservatives), Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Titanium Dioxide (Color), Agar; Chocolate Icing: Sugar, Water, Cocoa, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Soybean Oil, Corn Syrup, Contains 2% or less of: Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Corn Starch, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oil, Salt, Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Propionate (Preservatives), Soy Lecithin (Emulsifier), Artificial Flavor, Agar. Dunkin' Donuts is America's most popular coffee and donut chain, and with growing awareness of the adverse affects of GMOs and other toxic ingredients on both the health of humans and the environment, it's time to demand that Dunkin' Donuts reflect the voice of the people and offer GMO-free options to their consumers.
