  • Release from prison Sister Megan Rice, Michael Walli & Greg Boertie-Obed from prison for their ac...
This was the situation that constituted their arrest, trial and sentence to prison. . . . . . Early on the morning of July 28, 2012, the three “veteran activists” hiked over a ridge and cut through four fences to reach the United States “new” storehouse for bomb-grade, highly enriched uranium at the Y-12 nuclear weapons complex. Their arrest led to a temporary shutdown of Y-12 operations, oversight hearings in Congress, and an on-going security overhauls throughout the nuclear weapons enterprise. Before you sign this, you’re probably asking yourself a couple of questions: #1. Why do these people do what they do? It’s to draw your attention to exactly what is going on in our country. It’s the nuclear build-up of weapons that are beyond most of our wildest imagination. Each one of America’s 14 nuclear subs has 24 missiles and each missile has 4 to 8 independently targeted warheads. Each of the individual warheads on a missile is now 30 times more powerful than the bombs used on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It takes only one of American’s 14 submarines to ruin Europe as a civilization and the definite possibility of becoming the means of eliminating all life on this planet. Now ….. Let’s work a little with these numbers. We’re producing a weapon that is 30 times more powerful than Nagasaki. 150,000 died at Nagasaki so 30 X 150,000 = 4 million men, women, children and the environment around them becomes ashes.. In actuality, these three, labelled terrorists, by attempting to make us aware of this, should be crowned as saints, because what we’re talking about here is really insanity. If you think these statements are off the wall, add the price tag of a 100 billion to build 14 new nuclear subs all this and then make the claim, along with our government that we need all this to protect ourselves. So….. The reason for you to sign this is, the way we’re heading with the improved nuclear systems, you could possibly become one of the 4 million to experience the fruits of America’s thirst for power. #2. Why should I get involved with all this? The second reason why you should sign this petition is because of our morally bankrupt court system. When they label and convict an eighty-five year old nun of being a terrorist and no one objects, it means that we’ve accepted a rotten process. So…. are Sr. Megan, Michael & Gregg terrorists? Are they saboteurs? When we, as a people, accept untruths as truths, then it’s not long till the government can bring you in calling you something you’re not and when our high courts cannot distinguish right and wrong then we’re all in trouble. They had a great saying in Germany. “When they came for the journalist, I said nothing. When they came for the labor leaders, I said nothing. When they came for the teachers, I said nothing and finally, when they came for me there was no one left to speak for me. The evil of nuclear weapons is present and along with it the forces that keep it operational. We appreciate your willingness to engage with us to keep real freedom alive which is always founded in truth. So…. Keep this in mind. You are signing this as much for ourselves as the three righteous and courageous people in jail.

  • Save the Culver Blvd Median Park
The Culver City Public Works Dept is proposing a drastic and unnecessary bulldozing of the Culver Median Park from a planted and pleasant 60 feet to 44 feet while pushing it into and narrowing the north side service road, bringing the traffic - and its noise - 32 feet closer to the North side residents of Culver Blvd.

  • Governor Brown: Will you help us Overturn Citizens United?
The Supreme Court has gutted more than one hundred years of campaign finance laws and given corporations and the rich even more power over our government -- with the outrageous rationale that limiting spending on elections limits speech. If our democratic system of representative government is to survive, these deeply damaging rulings must be overturned. SB 1272 will put a proposition on this November's ballot that will let California voters demand that Congress create a constitutional amendment to do so. Ask Governor Brown to sign it now!

  • Tell President Obama: Religion doesn't justify anti-gay discrimination
The ink is barely dry on the Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision, but already conservative activists are trying to use "religious freedom" as a justification for firing people simply because they're gay. The White House is currently preparing an executive order that would prohibit federal contractors from discriminating against their employees. But yesterday, Rick Warren and other religious leaders sent a letter formally requesting that President Obama allow religious organizations that receive federal tax dollars to discriminate against LGBT employees. Most Americans, including most Christians, believe it's morally wrong to fire someone just because they're gay -- but the media is reporting on this letter as if its 14 signers speak for all of Christianity. So we're launching an emergency petition to show the White House just how many people are outraged that religion is being exploited to justify anti-gay discrimination.

  • Don’t Let the Obama Administration Cook the Books for Outsourcers
The Obama administration is proposing a pretty awful idea. They want to let notorious outsourcers, like Apple and Nike, be classified as “American manufacturers” regardless of where they make their iPhones or Air Jordans. If this change goes into effect, it could have huge consequences for all of us. These changes would make it easier for corporate outsourcers to hide how they’ve exploited bad trade deals to outsource millions of jobs, undermine environmental laws, weaken workers’ rights around the world and make corporate CEOs even richer. Sign the petition to tell the Obama administration and the Office of Management and Budget, which is taking comments on the rules right now, that cooking the books for corporate outsourcers is bad for working families here and abroad.

  • Lift the ban on the statute of limitations for all 50 states in reporting cases of child sexual a...
All to often, childhood sexual abuse goes unreported. Many children are shamed into silence. Others may mentally block the trauma until years later when they feel safe enough to reveal it. Some cases are even covered up once reported in family and religious settings. This may further cause legal complications when the perpetrator moves to another state. Conditions like these cause more children to be abused. The law was created to serve and protect. Please sign this petition so that pedophiles may be brought to justice.

  • The Exploitation of Young People on Facebook and Social Media
A friend of mine has an 8 year old cousin who, while riding a NYC bus (with her mother) was video- taped by a complete stranger. The stranger (a teenager) posted the video of the child on Facebook with sexual content. All this was done without the knowledge or permission of the parent. Facebook was informed and refused to remove the video as it did not violate their policy. The video was viewed over 100 times within 12 hours. The comments were both demeaning and degrading toward the minor and their family. As adults, a standard of what acceptable behavior MUST be risen especially if we expect our youth & young adults to rise to such a standard. We MUST share openly to both youth & young adults what we believe is socially acceptable. We MUST also accept responsibility for our part in looking the other way. Each time we look away, someone else's child is being exploited, abused, bullied, threatened, and miseducated.

  • John Roberts: Corporations Aren't People, Women Are
In the case of Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, an injustice has been done to the rights of women. Corporations should not be given the same rights as people. They have been given the right to free speech, political expenditures and now are able to deny women health coverage of the following contraceptives: Ella, Plan B and IUDs. Corporations should only have limited liability and privileges given from our government for providing goods and services to the people. That's as far as it goes; corporations simply aren't people and shouldn't be treated as people. Hobby Lobby still covers Viagra and vasectomies, yet covering IUDs and the morning after pill is an issue. This isn't a controversy concerning religious freedom; however, this is a matter of women's rights. If this was about religious freedom, the religious rights of the Hobby Lobby employees would be considered. A female employee for Hobby Lobby should not have her right for coverage of Plan B, Ella or IUDs taken away because of the religious beliefs of an owner of a corporation. Women deserve the right to reproductive freedom and full healthcare. This Supreme Court decision could also disturb the rights of the LGBT community or the ability to receive coverage for vaccinations or blood transfusions due to this supposed religious freedom of corporations. Sign this petition for the religious rights of every individual in this nation!
