  • PETITION FOR HUMANE TREATMENT OF PRISONERS AT WAUPUN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION (WCI)
I have been doing prisoner advocacy for 15 years and have been working on this specific issue for over a year and a half and found noone listening or caring. The Center for Investigative Journalism (www.wisconsinwatch.org) has done series on the abuse and now we must demand an independent investigation. Both staff and prisoners are harmed in this situation and it is our responsibility to help.

  • Protesting Cambridge School Committee Actions and Decisions
School- and classroom-level staffing in the Cambridge Public Schools is inadequate to meet the needs of a student population that is increasing in number, diversity, mobility, and complexity, and there is unequal and inequitable staffing across CPS elementary schools. The result is that too many CPS students are not getting their academic, intellectual, social, emotional, and cultural needs met in our schools, thus reducing their opportunities to learn and to become successful, civically-engaged, and efficacious adults.

  • Stop Congress from wasting tax dollars on suing the president
I believe some of the dangerous Republicans masquerading as tea party members are pushing John Boehner, speaker of the House, into suing President Obama to set the stage for a kangaroo court type of impeachment of the President. If both Houses of Congress are taken over after the 2014 elections, the above can happen. This type of disenfranchisement of the majority voters could cause anarchy, and maybe a civil war. It is my notion the above is what some of those dangerous extremists want; they would rather see a civil war than another Democratic presidency.

  • Join President Obama in Calling Out Corporate Tax Dodgers
Some American corporations are essentially renouncing their citizenship so they can weasel out of paying taxes, even as they benefit from innumerable advantages of doing business, and making record profits, here. This corporate ploy is called “inversion.” A better word might be “evasion.” Inversion is when an American corporation seeks out and merges with a (usually smaller) foreign business, then uses the country where that business is located for tax purposes, thereby avoiding U.S. corporate taxes. President Obama recently spoke out against the practice of Big Business setting up sham headquarters in other countries to dodge their tax obligations here in America: “There are a whole range of benefits that have helped to build companies, create value, create profits. For you to continue to benefit from that entire architecture that helps you thrive, but move your technical address simply to avoid paying taxes, is neither fair, nor is it something that’s going to be good for the country over the long term. … You’re just gaming the system.” Sign the petition today to show President Obama that you support bold action to end the inversion evasion!

  • Condemn Senate for Passing Resolutions Encouraging the Massacre in Gaza
By August 10, 2014 I want to hand my Senator the Petition and tell her we are watching and we disapprove. I don't want my money to murder civilians. I am 100% sure the average citizen of USA doesn't want their tax dollars for murder either! Our country needs infrastructure and instead the senate sends money and support to terrorist Israel. The whole world is condemning the massacres. Large protests in France, Britain, Australia, Ecuador, Lansing, New York City, California. Anyone wanting to deliver the petition to their Senator will be given the petition signatures too.

  • Impeach President Obama? Oh No You Won't!
I am able for the first time to own my own business thanks to The Affordable Care Act. The Republicans in Congress have done nothing over the last 6 years but find ways to stall progress in the name of "stopping" President Obama. Threatening to sue him, or looking for a way to invalidate the law is a waste of time, could deny millions of healthcare, and is not what Americans want!

  • Migrant Youth on the Border
We cannot thank Governor Patrick enough for his constant attention to basic human and civil rights. His impassioned speech on July 18th sharing Massachusetts's plan to provide shelter and care for migrant youth was inspiring, and a call to action. In an attempt to overcome the intolerant and racist reactions of some Bay Staters to Governor Patrick's proposed plan, we want to say: That is not what Massachusetts is about. We are about caring for one another, and stepping up to aid those need - ESPECIALLY children. Many of the migrant youth at our boarder have traveled up to 1,000 miles to flee unspeakable violence in their home countries. The United State has immeasurable wealth; we cannot turn these children away. We are a nation of immigrants. We would like to offer our assistance in any way possible. In a show of support we wanted to reach out to other Massachusetts residents who feel the need to do something. We are collecting a list of names of Massachusetts residents who are willing to shelter and care for one or more migrant youth during their stay in our state. As additional support to Governor Patrick's plan we want to say to those angry and intolerant residents of the Bay State; WE want to help.

  • Save Pets from Dangerous Surgery
Surgeons cannot see the objects swallowed by pets because they are invisible to even x-rays. Thus the animals must undergo a bowel surgery as the surgeon searches for the object. Our class is sponsoring this. For one dog alone, it costs over $6000 to save its life. It would cost companies nothing.

  • Save Our Streets
We, the Freedmen’s Town Preservation Coalition, request your support in our efforts to encourage the City of Houston to use preservative rather than restorative methods when revamping Andrews and Wilson streets in historic Freedmen’s Town Fourth Ward community. We are petitioning the City of Houston as well as all levels of government and elected officials to support us because of the historical impact of this matter and that historic Freedmen’s Town Fourth Ward has federal, state and local historic designation. We realize that it is extremely important to save the remaining history of this wonderful community as it is a substantial contributor to Houston’s history. We encourage the City of Houston to use preservative rather than restorative methods when revamping historic Andrews and Wilson streets in Freedmen’s Town Fourth Ward; Our goal is to preserve the brick streets by using the best available technology (BAT) to place infrastructure under the sidewalks through micro-tunneling instead of through the street. The difference is, when tunneling takes place under the sidewalk, the historical value of the streets will be preserved instead of removing the bricks and returning them, which is restoration. Be it resolved, that our concerns be respected and implemented immediately by the City of Houston and supported by all levels of government and elected officials.
