Make Corporations Pay Their Fair Share of Taxes to Fix Our Roads and BridgesSome members of Congress have been up to something that's unpatriotic: They want to create a tax "holiday" for huge corporations that have been stashing profits offshore to get out of paying their fair share of taxes here at home. Let’s tell Congress to fix our infrastructure by making sure that corporations pay their fair share of taxes. Big corporations from Apple to General Electric to Bank of America have more than $2 trillion in profits offshore, much of it in tax havens. They're eventually supposed to bring most of those profits home and pay U.S. taxes on them, but get this: There's no deadline for them to do so. These corporations are heavily lobbying Congress to let them bring those profits back to the U.S. at a tax rate that's just a fraction of what they would normally pay. The last time there was a special tax holiday like this, they paid a tax rate of 5.25% -- a small fraction of the official 35% corporate income tax rate. Meanwhile, our roads and bridges are crumbling, and the Highway Trust Fund that helps us repair and upgrade them will lose 30% of its funding in August. Some construction projects will stop, and we could lose 700,000 jobs. In a sense, we'll have a highway shutdown, like we had a government shutdown last fall. Some members of Congress want to pretend that giving corporations a huge break on their taxes is a smart way to fix our infrastructure. Democrats like Rep. Chris Van Hollen (MD) and Rep. Sander Levin (MI) want to save the Highway Trust Fund by making it even harder for corporations to shift profits offshore in the first place by changing their corporate address to a tax haven. Tell Congress: Big corporations depend on our roads and bridges, too. Make them keep their profits in the U.S. and pay their fair share of taxes. They owe our country. They should pay their fair share like we all do.264 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund and US PIRG

Fourth of July fireworks should be a celebration not an intrusion into people's lives.I am a professional dog trainer and I see the devastating anguish dogs with noise phobias have. I also own one of these dogs. With fireworks now being set off for weeks before the fourth of July and often times starting in the late afternoon and early evening these dogs suffer for hours each day and for days leading up to the holiday then for days afterwards with each firework that is set off.383 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Karen Ryder

Stop Juvenile Sex CrimesA parent should be charged with child neglect, child abuse and child endangerment when they ignore the signs of their child being a sexual predator. When a child is accused of sexual battery, counseling should be mandatory, not wait until there is a second or a third victim. My son became a victim when he was 3; nothing was done about it so now my 2 year old is a victim. Enough is enough! It needs to be stopped! No child should ever suffer from this awful crime, it stays with them forever. All children need to be protected.513 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Jennifer Vanderbur

JUSTICE FOR 70 YEAR OLD WOMANI am at the end of my rope, so to speak. Every month I struggle to make ends meet and pay these steep costs (or go back to jail). I feel that I have paid for my crime, since some violent offenders receive less punishment. 13 years at my age (67 at time of sentencing) is the same as a death sentence. I have been clean and sober for three years now and fully intend to stay that way.274 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Joyce S Adams

Adios Koch Brothers - Get out of NM Politics!I want my 1-year-old to grow up believing that Americans have a voice in their country and that citizens can have a greater impact than corporations. In 2012, the Koch brothers spent over $6.1 million to push their far right agenda in NM and failed miserably. Let's send them packing again and join the growing national movement to say "Koch no mas! Get out of our politics!"1,718 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Angelina Lopez-Brody

Help Arriving Children by diverting 1% of the Military BudgetDo we really want to be a people who turn our backs on children? One percent of the United States military budget would provide enough money for 60 or more hundred million dollar projects to assist children who arrive here and to assist those in the places they must now flee.109 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Mitch Trachtenberg

Fire Nazareth Police Chief Thomas TrachtaOn June 27, 2014, he conducted a staged perp walk of litter suspects, even to the point of handcuffing and shackling them; and He blackballed a Nazareth resident who served his country honorably in Iraq, and who is currently employed as a Bangor police officer, from the Nazareth Police Department; and He falsely represented that this officer, a Nazareth resident, had been involuntarily committed, and attempted to get him fired in Bangor with the same false representation; and He has avoided hiring military veterans, instead hiring officers who were either fired by or left other departments knowing they were about to be fired; and He has refused to take any disciplinary action against a part-time police officer engaged in an an on-duty affair, despite complaints from numerous Nazareth residents, including Gehret; and He refused to take any disciplinary action against another part-time police officer (ERIC SCHWAB) who, after responding to a domestic disturbance on June 9, 2014, returned and drank with one of the victims; and He has created a culture of intolerance for any criticism of the police department that resulted in Officer Eric Schwab posting a Facebook comment asking fellow police officers to "light this fucker up" in response to factual criticisms made by O'Hare on his blog; and He has usurped the authority of Borough Council with criminal prosecutions and threats of criminal prosecution, including a file on each member of Council; and He has forced the ouster of long-time members of the Police Committee, and He has used Borough resources (the state police crime lab control number) to request investigation, not of crime in Nazareth, but criminal mischief directed at him in Bushkill Township; and He abused borough resources by using the borough control number to request a state police criminal background check for a part-time Nazareth police officer who was applying for full-time jobs in other municipalities, falsely indicating it was for an investigation.141 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Bernie O'Hare
