President Faust: Investigate the anti-Ukrainian actions of the Harvard police and rescind the ord...For the duration of Mr. Spivakov's concert at Harvard's Sanders Theater, Harvard's self-proclaimed adherence to the restrictions imposed on power structures by the 1st Amendment was apparently suspended in favor of the norms of modern-day Russia, where suppression of opposing views is the every-day reality. Harvard University Police, hired by the organizers of the concert, zealously enforced these restrictions-- just like in Russia, any items, such as flowers or fliers, featuring the colors of Ukraine's flag (blue and yellow) were not allowed in the theater, and a member of the audience who asked Mr. Spivakov an unflattering question was arrested on charges that came apart at the seams in court the very next morning. However, even though he is a Harvard alumnus, he is still and indefinitely barred from setting foot anywhere on his alma mater's campuses. If you'd rather this didn't become the norm at Harvard or elsewhere in civilized world, please sign our petition.1,651 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by MusicLovers

MoveOn, Please Act on My PetitionsI have done several petitions through MoveOn.org. I have learned that getting an email out to past signers is invaluable and that sending one on a weekend seems to work best. That's why I composed an email over 24 hours ago. It was in response to Governor Corbett's Friday afternoon announcement that he is opening more of our state forest land and, for the first time, our state park land to fracking. We need lots of signatures and need them right away. The email has still not been approved. References in it are now out of date. I can't edit it and can't find out when it will be approved. I'm losing valuable time. So what appears in my inbox today? An email from MoveOn suggesting that I email past signers. It's ridiculous. I'm asking MoveOn to 1) let me revise my email to update it, 2) approve the revised email promptly, and 3) take the extra step of sending it to their list to help me make up for lost time.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen Feridun

Protect Our Right to Vote: Early Voting Needed in PennsylvaniaVoting is a sacred right. Only 13 other states make voting as hard as Pennsylvania does. I trudged the dirt roads of Mississippi 50 years ago to secure voting rights and I don't like to see Pennsylvania in the bottom rung today. We need early voting and no-excuse-necessary absentee voting. This will enable thousands of Pennsylvania voters whose jobs, family responsibilities or other life circumstances prevent them voting on Election Day, to exercise their sacred right to vote. Tell our Pennsylvania elected officials and candidates for office in this November’s elections that they need to take a stand for early voting - today! If you've had a hard time getting to the polls tell us your story in the comments section.267 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Yosaif August

Keep the Southern Hills Aquifer Frack-FreeCurrent and future drilling operations along the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale Ridge plan to extract oil and natural gas through the controversial practice of hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”. The toxic chemicals that fracking releases into the ground water, water reservoirs, and the air surrounding the fracking site contaminate the environment and increase the risks of illness, infertility, birth defects, and cancer. In a state so dependent on the natural landscape and the water for food, transportation, commerce, recreation, and tourism, it proves nonsensical to support practices that endanger those activities and the people who depend upon them. This state has a beautiful ecosystem and a proud heritage of people who live with the land. Fracking is bad for the people, the ecosystem, and the economy. In short, fracking is destructive to the traditions and lifeways that make us proud to call Louisiana home.648 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Jonathan M Broussard and Stephanie H Grey

Stop Governor Corbett from allowing fracking extraction under State Parks and ForestsGov. Corbett's executive order affects 2.2 million acres of State Forest and 200,000 acres of State Park land. It is an attempt to create revenue to balance the budget - a budget he can't balance because of poor financial management and bad governmental decisions, i.e. corporate giveaways and Medicare expansion declination. His other attempts to balance the budget were to sell the State Liquor Stores, Lottery, etc. This is yet another attempt to balance a budget by selling off or invading public assets. This executive order would allow extraction facilities and rigs to be located adjacent to our beautiful and pristine forests and parks. To believe there will be no appreciable impact on these public treasures is naive. The safety of this drilling is based on Corbett's internal advisory committee. Tell him no, make it clear that he will lose your vote if he continues on this course.515 of 600 SignaturesCreated by John R. Vivian, Jr.

Let Brenda walk now!As a parent and registered voter whose children currently attend local public schools, it is critically important to me that students are supported to the fullest extent and that the question, "What is in the best interest of the student?" is asked as decisions impacting students are made. Our local school board policy (BP 5127, AR 5127) grants principals the authority to make an exception and allow a student to participate in a graduation ceremony when there is an unusual circumstance (missing the CAHSEE passing score by one point) and there has been "an occurrence beyond the control of the student." Brenda Mendez has spent all of her K-12 school years in PUSD schools that have been deemed under-performing (based on API scores, though progress has been made, no school that she has attended has achieved an API score of 800 or better) and that are largely segregated (all three schools that Brenda has attended lack diversity - both socioeconomic and racial). These are two things that are largely, if not completely, "beyond the control of the student" and could have led to a deficiency in how she performed on the CAHSEE exam (read more about how here -- http://blogs.kcrw.com/pressplay/2014/05/fault-lines-segregation-in-los-angeles-schools/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fault-lines-segregation-in-los-angeles-schools). Through her recent advocacy efforts and based on her future educational plans, Brenda has demonstrated that she is committed to earning her high school diploma by achieving a passing score on the CAHSEE exam. Please make an exception for her and allow her to participate in the Muir HS graduation ceremony to take place on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.276 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Cushon Bell
