• GOP Leaders: Stop supporting Cliven Bundy!
Surprise, surprise: the same Cliven Bundy refusing to pay taxes, who won't follow federal law, and is openly threatening militia violence, also happens to be super, super racist.

  • Safeway CEO: Label GMOs
When I’m buying food at Safeway, I should be able to make an informed choice. But Safeway doesn’t label its products that contain genetically modified ingredients, or GMOs. While more research needs to be done to understand the full impact of GMOs, they are not without risk. For example, GMOs are responsible for a 400 million pound increase in pesticide use in the United States between 1995 and 2011 [1]. And GMOs don’t undergo independent safety testing before they’re allowed onto the market, which the American Medical Association recommends [2]. It’s time for Safeway to follow the lead of other grocery chains like Whole Foods and label GMOs in its store-brand products so that we can decide for ourselves whether or not we want to eat GMOs. • FCC: Stop killing net neutrality!
Last week, the news broke that the FCC intends to blow us off and betray the principle of equal access to the Internet. We need to stop them. Later this month they'll meet to start working on a new regulation that would allow Internet Service Providers like Comcast and Verizon to make it relatively harder for us to access other content -- and make it easier for us to access content whose owners (big corporations) pay them fees. Big corporations that can afford to pay fees will finally have taken over the Internet -- just like they have TV, radio, and newspapers. And it'll be harder for independent businesses, artists, news outlets, and activists like us to survive. We need to pressure the FCC to scrap this plan and start over, by implementing real open Internet rules that treat everybody equally and fairly and don't tilt the Internet in ways that benefit big corporations.

  • Don't Leave Poor People Out of the Minimum Wage Debate
When a buyer asks a post-sale question, eBay deceptively opens a case for the buyer, and the seller will get a defect unfairly even after the seller resolves the case to the buyer’s satisfaction. One Top-Rated Seller has 417 resolved cases. Under proposed new Seller Performance Standards, he will be punished with 417 defects even though buyers were completely happy. His defect rate will be below eBay's minimum standards for selling on eBay. eBay’s unfair and deceptive new Seller Performance Standards will affect over 25 million sellers. Many Top Rated Sellers will be punished and fall below eBay's new minimum standards, and their selling privileges will be restricted or limited after November 20, 2014.

  • Rep. Roskam: Explain your vote for Paul Ryan's job-killing budget
Rep. Peter Roskam voted for a federal budget that would, according to the Economic Policy Institute, slow the economy and cost 1.1 million jobs next year -- and 3 million jobs in 2016. This is a federal budget only a billionaire or defense contractor could love. Paul Ryan's congressional budget would cut $137 billion from SNAP (food stamps), $125 billion from Pell Grants, and $16 billion to block grants for Meals on Wheels, homeless shelters, and child care for working-poor families. While Ryan's budget isn't likely to pass the Senate, we need to send Congressman Roskam a strong message so that he knows we don't support these budget priorities. We want him to champion a budget that creates jobs and gives everyone a fair shot in life. If enough of us sign, Rep. Roskam will know exactly where his district stands. • Keep Our Market and Precinct Open
We here in the South Hull District and the surrounding neighborhoods need a source of fresh produce, a gathering place for meetings, and quick MPD response when we call. The neighborhoods that surround us and that are also serviced by the Market have a greater problem with crime and their folks often eat unhealthily because of poverty, ignorance, and a shortage of fresh food. The Market is also an anchor in a sea of changing retail and rental properties.

  • reinstate severely handicapped federal hiring program
Because in 1984 I was hired into this pilot program and it was discontinued after the USPS discriminated against Fred Alcon and I for being severely disabled. We feel the severely disabled did work in Milwaukee and that this program should be fully implemented across the United States Postal Service because we showed after 18 years of working at Milwaukee's BMC, we did the job, but got blackballed from the federal government for pointing out discrimination where we saw it.
