There are many other possible ways for these politicians to solve problems with other country’s politicians rather than letting thousands of people; who don’t deserve to die, die from both sides in the name of serving their country. The only time a country’s military should be used is in an act of defense; if their country is being invaded or to fight domestic tyranny. Paul LePage inexplicably vetoed the Maine Foods Bill, which would help enable Maine farms to feed more of us—a real no-brainer, given that Maine imports more of its food than any other state in the continental U.S, and the huge benefits of eating locally to our environment, health, and local economy. LD 1431 would jumpstart the development of food hubs—a key part of the infrastructure needed to bring Maine’s local foods movement to scale. Food hubs enable small farmers to team up and pool their produce and other products so together they have enough volume to reach larger markets, such as grocery stores, schools, and hospitals. While the Maine Foods Bill passed by veto-proof marjorities, Republicans have been very reluctant to vote against the governor. I love Ben and Jerrys but, I don't like carrageenan. So please make an ice cream flavor without carrageenan. Carrageenan is a product derived from certain types of red algae, a seaweed. It is still an ongoing debate on whether or not it is harmful. It is thought that carrageenan is a cause of a range of cancers (especially gastrointestinal ones) and other illnesses like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Even if it is safe there should still be a choice for those who refuse to eat it. So who better to take on that challenge than Ben and Jerry's?

People couldn't get to their homes for weeks and then only by Police Escort. Many effected retired and or elderly. Now, 18 months later, the residents are getting a feel for what they have to do. To protect their best interests, fix/rebuild their homes and move forward. Many settled claims. ALL "assumed" they got paid fairly. Yet, I have been following public adjusters, who are getting homeowners, already told they were paid fairly, more money. One homeowner wasn't paid for 3 rooms left out of their claim. These homeowners need time and are just finding the resources', to help themselves. The State, FEMA could have been much better at getting information out and should be willing to side on the resident's (taxpayers)favor! 90 days minimum would be a HUGE help! We need to raise revenue (rather than cut vital services) and make the federal tax system more progressive. Ordinary citizens pay sales taxes on the goods they buy, but stock transactions aren't taxed. Michael Lewis has pointed to the dangers in high-frequency trading that is distorting-- and perhaps undermining the stock market. A tax would be a far more effective way to deter HFT than regulation.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is about to sell off more control of the Internet to big corporations like Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon — the same corporations who have a near monopoly over our digital lives and businesses. Americans already pay way too much for way too slow internet service. In many rural and suburban areas, internet access looks the same as it did in the '90s, while profits for these giant companies have never been higher. Now Chairman Wheeler wants to allow big internet providers to charge websites for faster content delivery, setting up a pay to play fast lane. We don’t allow pay to play anywhere else in society — the Internet, the backbone of our current and future economy is no place to start. This means content providers like Netflix will have to pay ransom to internet providers to make their videos available at the fastest speeds. Meanwhile, content from other innovative websites and small businesses who can’t afford to pay will be drowned out. All of us — the Internet consumers — will lose.
