One reason why people don’t vote is if they haven't registered as required almost one month before Election Day. That deadline is arbitrary and unnecessary. Often, the election debate doesn't really get going until the last few weeks before Election Day – after the registration deadline. SDR would allow Illinois to join ten other states such as California and Minnesota, plus D.C., in removing arbitrary and unnecessary deadlines that complicate the registration process. Four of the five states with the highest voter turnout in 2012 offered SDR. The average voter turnout rate was over 10% higher in states with SDR than in other states. Tell your elected officials to support Same Day Registration in Illinois.

The Fair Elections Now Act will encourage more ordinary Americans to make small contributions to candidates by reimbursing them through a refundable tax credit and encourage candidates to seek out funds from a broad swath of their constituents by matching small donations with public funds. Fair Elections wouldn’t add a dime to the deficit. It would be financed by a fee on annual federal contracts over $10 million.

All my children have attended public schools, which use Genetically Modified (GM) Food to feed them. Our children should not be fed GM products. Thousands of schools around the world, particularly in Europe, have decided not to let their kids be used as guinea pigs and have banned GM foods. We need to do the same.

For years, Big Oil’s infamous lobby groups have been using big money and back-room politics to corrupt legislators, push their corporate agenda, and pull the strings at our State Capitol. Our child is a student in this classroom and has been personally affected by this troubled child for the last 2 years. This child is known by other students, teachers and parents because of this child's issues with physical & violent aggression towards other students over the years in the classroom & at recess. We have zero tolerance for weapons in schools and believe every child has a right to a safe learning environment.

I am signing this petition because I have simply had enough of being told what is going to happen without an explanation. The Arch Diocese has continually (sometimes with the assitance of local influence)tried to close Saint Joseph School. We as parents, and paying consumers, deserve an explanation as to why a school in the same demographic would have a significantly lower tuition, and why when we were told we'd all be at the same level, there continues to be a huge disparity.
