For Campaign Finance Reform: We Thank Heather Mizeur and We Urge Brown, Gansler & Others To Join HerWe need a Governor who will not be beholden to wealthy special interests and can represent all Maryland citizens. We believe that the enormous amounts of money obtained by candidates from corporations and the wealthy corrupts our political process. We support the fight throughout the country to combat the challenge to our democracy presented by the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision which invalidated campaign finance reform legislation. [2] A letter, signed by a majority of members of the Maryland General Assembly in January 2012, called upon the Maryland Congressional Delegation to work for an amendment to the Constitution for free and fair elections and reversing that decision. [3] Currently before the General Assembly is legislation calling on Congress to call a Constitutional Convention to permit meaningful campaign funding reform. [4] Since Delegate Mizeur has voluntarily accepted the Maryland Campaign Finance restrictions, her primary campaign budget is limited to $2,586,124. She will also not accept contributions in excess of $250 and will only accept contributions from individuals (not corporations). [5] However both Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown and Attorney General Gansler have not yet chosen to abide by the Maryland campaign finance restrictions and avail themselves of the Maryland fund. Although both are better known throughout the state, they are planning primary campaigns that will spend in excess of 6 million dollars each. [6] We call on Anthony Brown and Douglas Gansler and all other candidates for governor to voluntarily accept the Maryland campaign fund limits. Please join Delegate Mizeur in conducting conduct a campaign that does not rely on contributions from wealthy donors and corporations. ------------------------------------------ [2] Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. 310 (2010) [3] http://www.getmoneyoutmd.org/md_letter_for_traditional_amendment [4] Senator Jamie Raskin and 10 co-sponsors have introduced resolution SJ6, calling for an Article V Convention of the States. Ways and Means Chair Sheila Hixson and 26 co-sponsors have introduced the companion resolution HJ7 in the House of Delegates. [5] http://www.elections.state.md.us/campaign_finance/public_funding.html (The limit is based on contributions in excess of $50.) [6] As of the most recent reporting period Lt. Gov. Brown collected $5,393,572 last year and already has cash on hand of $7,013,647. Attorney General Gansler raised last year $1,673,050 and has cash on hand of. $6,268,967 http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bal-governor-fundraising,0,5511370.photogallery?index=bal-governor-fundraising-003 Republican candidate Larry Hogan also intends to rely on the campaign fund. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/blog/bs-md-hogan-public-financing-20140203,0,4299894.story However, as of the date of this petition no campaign finance report has been filed.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charlie S & MoveOn Baltimore Council

Ohio Cameras In Special Needs ClassroomsThere have been many cases of abuse cover ups, abuse, neglect, restrained and injured, raped, and/or killed while in staff care. These children can not speak for themselves. Also, for the children's and staff safety and protection, if a staff member is falsely accused, they have a video to back their story up. If a child is being abused, it will be caught on cameras, and the abuser can be removed immediately. Cameras can save money on lawsuits because cameras will make the cases shorter. (Open and Shut cases) Cameras can also be a great teaching tool. Staff can go back and look closer on a child's behavior, see what may have caused it, and find ways to work with the child's need better. Parents can watch their children's education and know more about their child with special needs education. Tara Heidinger has gathered stories from all over the USA and more. This is her movement to build awareness. https://www.facebook.com/CamerasInSpecialNeedsClassrooms Congressional Candidate Noel Nazario is working closely with Tara Heidinger in helping her get this accomplished. Safety of the children and staff should be first priority.271 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Tara Heidinger

Return scored PSSA tests to families and teachers so tests can be educationally useful. Our kids are subjected to long state tests and hours of test preparation. Children are missing recess and arts programs are being cut to accommodate more test prep. The students diligently take these high stress, high stakes tests, and they never get an opportunity to review their specific performance. They merely receive a score six months later. What are these tests for if not to improve our children's educations?110 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kathy

Revoke the Stand Your Ground LawDo not support Florida's tourism industry until The Stand your Ground Law is abolished! This law has become akin to Jim Crow Laws which enabled and tacitly encouraged violent acts against innocent African Americans--most of whom were male-- under the guise of keeping our country separate but equal. Given the recent mistrial of Michael Dunn who fatally shot a young unarmed African American male teenager over a dispute about loud music, we have to let Florida's government know that the Stand your Ground Law has effected the hard won freedom of two innocent children because their skin color made them suspect.44 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dionya Butterfly Webb

Victoria Nuland should resign for improper conductVictoria Nuland in a bugged phone conversation with Geoffrey Pyat (US ambassador to Ukraine) has clearly shown intrusion into Ukraine's internal affairs by a USA diplomat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv7qy7jot30). Her conduct is contributing to destabilization within the country and escalation of violence which is claiming lives. Foreign interference heavily contributed to civil war in former Yugoslavia 20 years ago, which resulted in 140,000 deaths. Let's not repeat this mistake again, let Ukraine fix internal issues on their own.84 of 100 SignaturesCreated by vladimir ivanovic

Help us end the dangerous "Shoot First" laws that let Jordan and Trayvon's killers get away with ...A white man killed an unarmed Black teenager — Jordan Davis — and Florida's so-called "Stand Your Ground" or "Shoot First" law set the stage for the injustice we've just witnessed — enabling Michael Dunn to kill Jordan Davis and not fully answer for that crime. It's a gripping comparison and a terrifying continuation of the injustice we saw with Trayvon Martin — with both murders taking place in Florida just months apart. In this time of national sorrow, let us turn our rightful frustration into action and grow a movement to hold accountable the criminal justice system that fails Black Americans every day.27,464 of 30,000 SignaturesCreated by Rashad Robinson

No Cell Tower on Bradyville PikeWe oppose the cell tower proposal because 1.) it does not conform to the aesthetic of the community, 2.) it will greatly diminish the value of our property, 3.) we do not believe the applicant did their best to find an alternative site, 4.) the proposed location is within an archeological site of historic significance: a Civil War campsite and the land of Chief Black Fox to whom our schools and community pay tribute by bearing his name, 5.) the tower will interfere with federally protected migratory birds flying off Todds Lake and Hoover Lake South-South East, 6.) the tower is too close to the Amy Heidish Bird Sanctuary, and the Nature Preservation Area on the West border of Fox Creek Subdivision. We ask the government to witness our hands in opposition to the telecommunication company's cell tower proposal.41 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sarah

Stop Bee Colony CollapseIt's obvious each spring and summer that there are fewer and fewer bees. Neonicotinoids are proven to cause colony collapse. Teminate HC&S Cane Burning PermitAccording to the DOH-CAB rules, Ash (that is made up of partially burnt plant material), and has very high amounts of "Polycyclic Organic Matter" and is number 186 on their list of hazardous materials. http//health.hawaii.gov/cab-files-2013-05_x-11-60-1.pdf (Page 60.1-237) Under the DOH-CAB hazard rules DOH-CAB can refuse to issue the permit.
