• Teminate HC&S Cane Burning Permit
According to the DOH-CAB rules, Ash (that is made up of partially burnt plant material), and has very high amounts of "Polycyclic Organic Matter" and is number 186 on their list of hazardous materials. http//health.hawaii.gov/cab-files-2013-05_x-11-60-1.pdf (Page 60.1-237) Under the DOH-CAB hazard rules DOH-CAB can refuse to issue the permit. Please do not approve the HC&S cane burning permit in its present form. Terminate the permit, or alter it so that HC&S avoids dumping cane ash on the tourist towns of Kihei and Paia Maui. http://www.epa.gov/ttnatw01/hlthef/polycycl.html In addition to ash problems, the World Health Organization has named smoke including agricultural burning a cause of lung cancer and other diseases.

  • A N.C. Republican Fighting Big Money?
Members of Congress hardly ever get a giant Thank You when they go out on a limb and do something right. We especially need to thank a Southern Republican for stepping up to fight the Koch Brothers and the power of big money in politics. Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr. of eastern North Carolina is the only Republican member of Congress willing to stand up to wealthy special interests and sign on to a serious campaign reform bill. It's the "Government By the People Act," co-sponsored by more than 100 House Democrats - and Walter Jones. Please sign the petition to thank Rep. Jones for his courageous leadership. The "Government By the People Act" sets up a public financing option for qualifying Congressional candidates who rely on small donors. It makes elected officials accountable to the people, not big donors. Here’s how it would work: - To encourage low-dollar giving, people could receive a $25 My Voice tax credit for their small campaign donation. - Qualifying candidates can super-size these small donations through the Freedom from Influence Fund. Donations they receive of $1 to $150 would be matched on a six-to-one basis, so $100 brings in an extra $600. - Candidates who raise more small donations during the last 60 days of the election can receive additional funds to combat hostile ads by outside attack groups. We need to encourage more leaders to support alternatives to the current system of elections. Please thank Walter Jones for his leadership. Thanks, Bob Hall, Democracy North Carolina

Cannabis is here.. It's a fact..! Too many people have been incarcerated, Ostracized , or worse, killed, because the federal government has helped to create a black market. • Attack on Climate Change Deniers!
"A RESOLUTION urging the United States Congress to oppose the assumptions and implementation of the President's climate action plan." Chairman Hedke and his ALEC posse are on a mission to prove their point to deny climate change and protect their fossil fuel industry friends, despite popular Kansas support for renewable energy and climate action. Don't let this committee officially deny climate change. This is another attack by Hedke on our environmental rights. This petition will be emailed to the entire committee the day before the vote on Friday, Feb. 21st.

  • Senate Bill 2566
This bill is a dangerous step toward increased prejudice and potential violence against a small percentage of our citizens. As sponsor, you would be as responsible as the aggressor in a violent confrontation because you are encouraging discrimination in our state. Tennessee does not need more discrimination; we need less! I hope you will consider the potential consequences of such an action and in good conscience, drop your support of Bill 2566.

  • NON-Custodial Parents Should be legally obligated to carry Life and Health Insurance for their ch...
I would like to propose that Non-custodial parents be legally obligated to obtain life insurance policies with the child(ren) as the beneficiary and the face value amounts meet or exceed any arrears and/or current child support through the age of majority (19). In the event that something happens to either parent, the child will still be provided for through the age of majority (19). Additionally, I would like to propose that Non-custodial parents be legally obligated to carry or pay for health insurance policies and premium for child(ren) through the age of majority (19). The Non-Custodial Parent should also pay a portion of co-pays, residuals that are not covered by the insurance and deductibles. If the non-custodial parent cannot afford the premiums, then the custodial parents should be given a chance to afford the premium if they are financially able. That's why I created a petition to The Alabama State House, The Alabama State Senate, and 4 others. Thank you in advance.

  • To be delivered to The Alabama State House, The Alabama State Senate, and Governor Robert Bentley...
In the state of Alabama, a 14 year old child can legally make decisions about their mental and physical health. At that point, the parent's hands are tied. However, the parent is still financially responsible for the child's bills and care. Even when the child gets in trouble at age 14, the parent is still held accountable for the child's actions. That is why the age 14 needs to change to the age of majority (19). Please sign this petition for Alabama's Concerned Parents. Thank you in advance. That's why I created a petition to The Alabama State House, The Alabama State Senate, and Governor Robert Bentley, which says: "Kids at age 14 are just that still kids, so they should not be allowed to make decisions about their mental health or physical health. "

  • Raise Minnesota's Minimum Wage Now!
The Minnesota House recently passed HR 92, a bill that would raise Minnesota’s minimum wage to $9.50. The current minimum wage of $7.25 just isn’t enough for workers to be able to provide for themselves and their families. Send a message to the Minnesota Legislature now and urge lawmakers to pass HR 92 and give a raise to 256,100 Minnesota workers.
