• Rep. Paul Ray
I run a specialty electronic cigarette shop in Ogden, UT. Most users of e-cigs are now FORMER smokers living drastically healthier lives by using pv's (personal Vaporizers) as an alternative to deadly, filthy tobacco. With Ray's proposed legislation, we would be banned from advertising, be held to manufacturing and sales standards that shops that sell beer and tobacco are not held to, and I oppose this blatant power-move and also oppose his fiction-based facts that he presents to constituents.

  • Jeddus Helmet Law
February 17, 2014 many of us lost a friend, amazing man, father, son and brother. If the law dictated helmets were mandatory for all riders, the injuries he suffered may not have taken him from us. Please help us to enforce The Jeddus Helmet Law. There should be no more heartache from losing loved ones.

  • Kansans in support of House Bill 2198 The Cannabis Compassion and Care Act
My daughter is 7 years old and suffers from Crohn's disease. She has to take a terrible drug that is actually a chemotherapy drug. It is harming her liver badly. I am an insulin dependent diabetic, disabled veteran of the USMC/Desert Storm veteran and registered nurse. Medical Marijuana is a much safer alternative and there are MANY legitimate studies to support this. It's time to join the rest of America. We need to take back our freedom. Don't be afraid to sign this petition. THE PEOPLE OF KANSAS HAVE SPOKEN. RECENT POLLS INDICATE 70% OF KANSANS WANT MEDICAL MARIJUANA! Not to mention the extra revenue it would generate for the GREAT STATE OF KANSAS!

  • FORCE AIRLINES TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF AIRBORNE PEANUT/TREE NUT ALLERGIES
Recently I had to fly with my 9 year old daughter who has a life threatening peanut/tree nut allergy. Her peanut allergy is considered AIRBORNE and has a history of a reaction to being present in a room when a person had peanut butter crackers. I asked the flight attendant to make an announcement to just inform the passengers about her airborne peanut allergy. She refused. I specifically asked again and told her my daughters history and I only asked that she just inform the passengers of her allergy. I also stated that I was only asking to let everyone know, that I was not asking her to tell them not to eat peanut products. Just let them know so they can make an informed decision whether or not to do so. She told me that all airlines do not allow such announcements because of potential law suits of infringing on the rights of passengers to eat what they wish. I responded very calmly that what about the passengers rights to be informed of a life threading allergy ? What if someone did not know and opened a bag of peanuts and my daughter went into anaphylactic shock ? What if they would have easily not opened that product if they had been informed of such an allergy and it could have been avoided? What about the law suite of my daughters life threatening reaction and then the law suite of the passenger because they have to live with that guilt for the rest of their life? What about "your" own guilt at the refusal to make that announcement that could have saved my daughter from a life threatening reaction? This can all be avoided if they just make an informed announcement Just let the passengers be aware of the LIFE THREATENING AIRBORNE allergy...that is it.... It is that simple. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER...When you are informed, you make better decisions.... period

  • All you need is to say "NO" to Keystone XL
The State Department has issued their final biased report on the Keystone XL pipeline, and now John Kerry has to make his final recommendation to President Obama. We need to use this time to come together and say once and for all: "NO to Keystone XL!"

  • Shell cancels Arctic drilling in 2014: Tell President Obama: Make it permanent!
Great news! Shell Oil announced it will NOT drill for oil in America's Arctic in 2014! The decision by Shell comes on the heels of a ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals stating that the Department of the Interior (DOI) violated the law when it sold offshore oil and gas leases in the Alaska's Chukchi Sea. The Alaskan Arctic is home polar bears, beluga whales, seals and other wildlife. Drilling puts these animals at risk -- endangered by potential oil spills and stores of carbon pollution that could dramatically alter our climate if released. Even though Shell won't be drilling this summer we know Shell won't walk away from its Arctic drilling plans in future years without more pressure! Tell President Obama to terminate all current drilling leases and urge him to cancel all future drilling lease sales in America's Arctic Ocean.

  • Food Truck Freedom
Support Baltimore's Food Trucks! There is legislation being considered that would restrict food truck parking to designated food truck zones. We love the idea of food truck zones but also need to be able to park at metered spaces! If you love trucks and want them to be able to park at meters in addition to the food truck zones, please let your voice be heard!

  • Raise the Wage
America was founded on the principle of equal representation: one person, one vote. Unfortunately, this pillar of democracy is under attack. Nowadays, it’s one dollar, one vote. A million dollars? A million votes. In short, money talks… and the rich speak loudest. Over the past four decades, the value of the minimum wage has decreased by 20 percent and if you work full-time you’ll earn a yearly salary of $15,392 - not even enough to keep your family above the poverty line. It’s well-past time for the rest of us to share in this newfound prosperity. Over 70 percent of Michiganders support raising the minimum wage and you can make our voice louder by signing our petition.

  • Northampton County Slow Down and Ensure Public Participation
Zoning Ordinances are hugely influential on the day to day life of the average citizen effecting how we grow our businesses, what we live next to, and how we treat our natural resources. This process is far too important for the County to side step proper procedures for public participation and involvement. We deserve to have a publicly vetted Comprehensive Plan for Northampton's future that everyone has had a chance to weigh in on. Shorekeeper will be presenting these petitions to county officials before public comment begins March 11th.
