Don't understand why the supreme court would weaken the voting rights act

I have been watching the news in the states where the right to vote has been made difficult for certain groups of citizens. In this democracy it is imperative that we protect that right for all citizens! Rep. Miller needs to add her support for the Voting Rights Act

There has to be a turn in this great tide of voter restrictions which manipulate the vote.

The Voting Rights Act is one of the most important pieces of civil rights legislation Congress has ever passed. Last year's Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of it. Right now, Congress can restore those protections by passing this important bill. Rep Jamie Herrera Beutler should support this effort by cosponsoring and fighting for a strong bill

I strongly believe that we must protect the right of every American citizen to cast a vote in all public elections.

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is considering huge new gas-fired power plants to replace the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Our leaders have a choice: make this setback a minor blip on the road to a safer climate by relying on clean energy solutions or lock-in 40 years of new fossil fuels by building huge new polluting gas plants.

To give due recognition to Constance Baker Motley (1921-2005), Civil Rights Attorney, Law maker and Judge. Judge Constance Baker Motley argued and won many of the most important desegregation cases in our country's history. She was a lead lawyer in the Brown vs the Board of Education. She was the only woman on the leadership team of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund with Thurgood Marshall, 1946-1964. 1st African American Woman to serve in the NYS Senate, 1st African American woman to serve as Manhattan Borough President, 1st African American woman to serve as a Federal judge to the US District Court and Chief Federal Judge. A Congressional Gold Medal is a fitting award for a woman who broke barriers and was a pioneer throughout her career and highly instrumental in bringing about desegregation in our public schools, colleges, housing, transportation and other public accomodations

We need to stop the onslaught to our liberties, especially voting rights. One man, one vote is one of the cornerstones of this nation and our Constitution. This bill is a start on the road to overturning Citizen’s United!
