Citizens should have a direct say in how much of their twp. or county they want developed. Politicians are easily swayed by contractors/developers to destroy what remains of our natural environment. This, in the end, with pollution, water run-off, loss of resources, loss of habitat, will come back to effect humans and all life negatively. Greed cannot have the day. I've asked other citizens for 40 years if they thought Berks County should become this developed, and they answered, no, but didn't know what to do about it. It's actually a crime against life.

I am a student at UH Manoa and there is no adequate appropriation for student technology on campus. We constantly battle with the other students to use a computer or to print a paper (which we pay for separately). Our basic needs should be able to be met with the funds that we provide. The budget needs to be re-examined to allow for: computers that don't shut down in the middle of operation, hardware that can read my flash drive, wiring that can sustain a connection to the printer, etc.

The housing crisis has not ended! More than 1.2 million properties are in some stage of foreclosure. If the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act is not extended, debt reduced by lenders due to a mortgage restructuring, foreclosure or short sale, will once again become taxable income creating additional hardship for people who are already experiencing emotional and financial devastation. I have severe allergies to many things and since manufacturers of alcoholic beverages aren't required by law to list the ingredients of the contents people like me suffer and can get very sick from unknown ingredients.

The Federal Clemency Advocacy Center is dedicated to reforming the Federal criminal justice system. There are over 215,000 federal prisoners. Approximately 40 percent are in prison for drug related offenses. Many are low level and first time offenders subjected to overly harsh mandatory minimum sentences. This modest proposal will help slow the cost of incarceration and help reduce growing overcrowding. It is only a first step. The Voting Rights Act is one of the most important pieces of civil rights legislation Congress has ever passed. Last Year's Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of it.
