  • ASK WARNER BROS. WHAT STEPS THEY ARE TAKING TO MAKE SURE HARRY POTTER CHOCOLATES ARE FREE FROM CH...
In the cocoa fields of the Ivory Coast, child slavery is ‘normal.’ It’s routine. It’s accepted. Children as young as 7 are sold – deprived of their childhood, ripped from their families, and subjected to routine abuse – to work long, backbreaking days picking cocoa. And it all stems from our love of chocolate. While many chocolate brands have made public commitments to find the best solution, Warner Bros. is lagging behind. As we head into one of the busiest times of the year for Warner Bros. theme parks, children excited to experience the world of Harry Potter will be asking their parents to buy these chocolates. That's why taking a stand right now will make a big impact. Ask Warner Bros. what steps they’re taking to ensure Harry Potter chocolates are slavery-free.

  • ASK WENDY'S TO HELP END SLAVERY IN FLORIDA'S TOMATO FIELDS
The Fair Food Program has made historic progress in tackling forced labour and exploitation on Florida’s tomato farms. A massive 90% of growers have already joined the Fair Food Program, an initiative with a proven track record in fighting modern slavery. And four of the five biggest U.S. fast food giants have signed the Fair Food Agreement, investing in the fight for a slavery-free agricultural industry. But one company stands in the way of progress: Wendy’s refuses to ensure slavery is not in its supply chain. If Wendy’s follows the lead of McDonald's, Subway, Burger King and Taco Bell, their immense purchasing power could help bring the last 10% of farms to the table and ensure the tomato industry never sees another case of modern slavery. Call on Wendy’s – the final fast food hold-out – to help end slavery forever in Florida’s tomato fields.

  • Preserve the Pioneers of the Wild West
We are destroying the spirit of America at a rigorous and barbarous pace. The wild mustangs are protected under the Wild and Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971, and yet this is being illegally overridden right before our eyes. The roundups must be stopped, for these horses are being inhumanely treated in BLM holding corrals when they should be roaming their homelands, free.

  • Two-Year Window for Sex Abuse Victims
Sex abuse victims deserve their day in court but the laws here in PA strongly favor the perpetrator. Statistics show that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are victims of sexual abuse. There is legislation currently in front of the Pennsylvania legislature (House and Senate) which would suspend the statute of limitations for sexual abuse, but leadership is not allowing the bills to run. Unfortunately the statute of limitations for many victims of past abuse expired only a few years after they turned 18. The current law gives a victim 12 years past their 18th birthday to expose their perpetrator but this still in most cases is not enough time. Most victims struggle with their abuse until they are 40, 50, 60 some even older. Many states have realized the seriousness of this matter and how difficult it is to come forward and have completely eliminated the statute as it relates to sexual abuse just like there is no statute for murder. California, Delaware, Hawaii and Minnesota have all opened up Two-Year Window bills and exposed thousands of perpetrators and helped keep thousands more children safe. Help us protect future generations of children by identifying perpetrators still roaming our streets.

  • Support for the Safe Schools Improvement Act of 2013-S.403
Currently, there are no federal laws or legislation that directly addresses bullying or anti-bullying prevention programs in our nation's schools. Federal bullying prevention legislation has not received enough support in the past to be passed by Congress. In February 2013, the Safe Schools Improvement Act of 2013 (S.403) was introduced into the Senate for consideration but, has continued to remain stagnant. This is the time to act and voice our concerns to get the Safe Schools Improvement Act (S.403) passed! All children are entitled to have a safe and nurturing environment in their schools where the opportunity for learning and growth is fostered. Too many suicides have been committed among children of all ages due to the detrimental effects of bullying! Take a stand and let your senators know why passing this legislation is so important. Our children's' safety is in our hands and we must get this legislation passed because children are also the future of this country. www.facebook.com/sayyestoS403

  • Raise the Minimum Wage in N.C. to $9.00 an hour!
According to N.C. Justice Center: "Raising the minimum wage to $9.00 by 2015 would affect approximately 693,000 workers in North Carolina. More than 80 percent of these workers are over 20 years of age, and almost half of those who would be directly affected work full-time." The article also pointed out that this "raise" would be spent immediately on food and other necessities thereby helping the state economy. Our state needs help.
