While it is commendable that the NFL promotes Breast Cancer Awareness by allowing players to wear pink, it is equally important to draw attention to Prostate Cancer Awareness. Just as many men die from Prostate Cancer as women die from breast cancer. Light blue is the color for Prostate Cancer and October is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. We call on the NFL to support Men's Health by starting a campaign to have teams wear light blue for the month of October.

I am disgusted by the partisan gridlock in our highest branches of government and do not want there to be a precedent of brinksmanship working as a political maneuver.

The shooting that occurred at Lorraine’s Lounge on October 2, 2013 was just the latest in a long series of incidents of violence and disruption directly related to these bars in our residential neighborhood. We, including Strat Vlachos, Diane Turner and Bonnie Brennan, are New Windsor Residents who are deeply concerned by the cancellation of the New Windsor, New York, Dial-A-Bus program. Our most vulnerable citizens, Seniors and the Disabled, lost their independence, access to social outlets and the freedom essential to human dignity. They are no longer able to attend to basic needs like bringing in groceries and visiting doctors without the intervention of neighbors, friends and family. As a result, they are made to feel as if they are burdens to their loved ones. This is demeaning to them and wrong for our Town. I was always a huge fan of the Sonic steak finger baskets, but it has been gone for a very long time. Dairy Queen's suffice but they are not always around. But Sonic is all around. All the time they put stuff on the menu either for the season or temporarily to test the market, I assume. So, I'm sure they could do the same with the steak finger basket. I've called the suggestion line a bunch but I guess it hasn't done the job. So help me petition Sonic to bring back the steak finger basket!

Sonar from surface ships and Seahawk helicopters, underwater explosives, and phosphorus canisters used in routine training exercises constitute an almost casual killing of our fellow creatures who have been here 50 million years. The massive whale and dolphin kills predicted by the Navy itself---thousands dead and five million deafened---all are as unnecessary as they are cruel. This inhumane slaughter must stop. In your own words, Mr. President, we are better than that. Besides, only by using modern satellite technology, smart buoys, underwater drones, satellites, and simulation techniques to train personnel can we can maintain our place as the best Navy in the world. Twenty-year-old sonar technology is useless against newer, smaller subs coated with sonar-repelling paint. By converting to modern technology, we can reduce the toll on marine life without compromising national security. Mr. President, we beg you to use your powers as Commander in Chief to stop the certain extinction of the North Atlantic Right Whale.
