Stop the Commercials in Movie TheatersWhy is it that the price of a movie ticket continues to rise while the quality of the the theater experience is losing its value? What happened to showing newsreels, cartoons or short films before the feature presentation? When did it become acceptable to pay $12.50 for a movie and then have to watch Coke, Verizon, and Progressive bombard us with their corporate Message. How did this happen? When and why did this become commonplace? Either lower the price of the movie ticket for the American public and make the advertisers subsidize the difference or prohibit advertising altogether. Those of us who pay for a premium movie channel at home are not subjected to commercials so then why should we, the movie goers, have to sit there and watch tons of commercials instead of getting what we paid for - pure entertainment.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jennifer

FDA Should be held accountable for Death/Disease from approved DrugsMore than 100,000 people each year are killed or sustain serious and damaging reactions to drugs that should never have made it to the market. The FDA approves these drugs and asks no questions of the drug companies' supposed studies. This is a form of genocide. If a car or a product did this much damage, there would be serious litigation. If the FDA approves a drug and it kills, maims, or creates a new more serious condition, the FDA should be held responsible!7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Gafner

Student Loan RatesAloha My name is Destiny and I am currently a college student at University of Hawaii, Maui College. I have a loan that I took out when I was 17 years old that I need to pay back and I do not want the rates to be raised. Living in Hawaii, renting my own place and going to college is already difficult enough without the raise of rates. Please start a petition for your school or sign mine. Be the change that you want the world to see.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Destiny Mahaulu

Education ReformI worked as an adminstrator at a community college in Contra Costa County, California. The abuse of resources received from the federal and state the goverment is a crime. Faculty members and academic counselors, worked 22.5 hours a week, get pay for 40, Summer off with full time pay, if they work, they get pay overtime and like some executive managers, they only work about 5 months a year altogether. At the end of the day, the ones that suffer the most are the students, the community and the country as a whole. We Must Developed and Implement a MARSHAL PLAN FOR EDUCATION.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brenda Jerez

Tougher Penalties for those who harm service dogsLast month in Florida, a woman threw bleach in the eyes of a service dog at a Publix grocery store because her fear of dogs. She may as well have throw bleach into the eyes of a seeing person. Though the dog was unharmed, this unfortunate incident is not isolated. There have been other instances across the country where people have knowingly hurt service dogs. Service dogs should receive the same protection that police dogs do.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Renee LePere

NC Leaders: Expand Medicaid for the Health of AllWith the Federal Health Care Reform signed by Obama, States will have the option of expanding Medicaid to provide basic health care coverage for every resident of North Carolina. For many, many residents this will be the only opportunity to receive this protection. As a small business owner, my wife has asked how can I provide health insurance for her. Without this change, I cannot provide any form of health insurance for her. Her health care needs will go unmet. Should she become pregnant, many services will be unavailable for her like so many others. Already, we have had to visit the ER because of our inability at the time, to pay for a regular clinic visit. We should place a much higher value on life and the well-being of others. I believe that morally, there is no higher priority in a just society.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bruce Whealton

Our College Education Shouldn't Be a Debt Sentence Nuestra educación universitaria no debe ser u...Our generation has been witness to an increasingly widening disparity between American socioeconomic groups. We believe that an equal opportunity to seek out higher level education is the most important tool to help close this gap. Doubling interest rates on subsidized Stafford Loans discriminates against need-based students, making paying for college an even more insurmountable task and excluding thousands of students from equitable education.24 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alexis Hernandez

Reform The Farm Bill of 2013As a former SNAP (food stamps) recipient, along with a current activist against food insecurity, we are calling on Congress to make significant reforms to the 2013 Farm Bill by eliminating agricultural subsidies to successful agricultural corporations and by making crop insurance policies subject to means testing and payment limits. At the same time, we strongly urge Congress to pass the National Sustainable Agricultural Coalition’s amendment to the Farm Bill as well as the Local Farms, Food, and Jobs Act of 2013. The amendment and bill would increase support for farmers who are growing organic and sustainably produced fruit, vegetables, meats, and other healthy foods for local and regional markets. It would also increase access to these healthy foods in underserved communities.345 of 400 SignaturesCreated by James Abro & Noelani Musicaro
