  • Stolen Wages
I have an ex boss who refuses to pay me the wages that he owes. There is no redress in the state of Florida. The only avenue available is Small Claims Court. I feel the State should offer some assistance when this happens.

  • Save the Philadelphia Public Schools
Public schools in Philadelphia, Pa are being decimated: they are closing, and essential services are being cut. For example, at the Roxborough High School in Roxborough, Pa. most of the teachers are being terminated to save money along with all arts/music & athletic programs. My son tells me that he was told that there will be only three teachers per grade next year- three to teach all subjects to 150 students!!! That is outrageous! SAVE PUBLIC EDUCATION!!

  • Stop the Bristol's House of Harmony - Honky Tonk
This facility is located in the center of a residential neighborhood, and the additional traffic late at night by people that have been drinking is a detriment to our neighborhood and community. This facility, calling itself a "music venue" is simply a night club/honky tonk featuring live local bands and the service of alcohol and brown bagging of alcohol. This type of facility is not conducive to a residential area. There are additional environmental quality issues with the interior of the building that need to be addressed.

  • Protect our democracy from unlimited spending in elections, and from corporate constitutional rights
Government by the people is increasingly under attack by big money in politics and corporate constitutional rights, and only an amendment to the U.S. Constitution can fix the problem. Several amendments have been proposed in the House to address these issues, including H.J.RES.20 and H.J.RES.21 proposed by Congressmen McGovern [MA-2] as well as H.J.RES.29 proposed by Congressman Rick Nolan [MN-8]. However, similar amendments have not been proposed in the Senate. Supreme Court decisions have unleashed an avalanche of money in our elections that shapes the public dialogue, greatly influences who will run for and win elected office, and makes our elected representatives increasingly beholden to the biggest donors rather than to the voters. To make matters worse, the Court has used the assertion that corporations have constitutional rights to strike down hundreds of local, state, and federal laws protecting our democracy, our health, and our safety. For example: The Court overturned a law banning corporate funding of ballot question campaigns; nullified state laws requiring the food industry to disclose all of the ingredients in our foods; and prevented our communities from banning cigarette advertising near schools in the name of “corporate free speech.” But corporations are not people. Only a constitutional amendment can undo these threats to self-government and ensure that government works for us—not just for corporations and wealthy interests. A constitutional amendment will protect sensible campaign finance laws as well as safeguard laws that keep us safe and healthy. The Massachusetts Senate delegation should lead on this issue by sponsoring the first constitutional amendment in the Senate that addresses both unlimited spending in elections and corporate constitutional rights. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people depends on it. • Make the child safe
In 2005, Michael Weaver was charged with sexually abusing 4 of my children and was convicted for 2 counts. My 4th child was so young there was no way to get her to tell us. Since that time, I have fought against false charges from CPS that were dismissed. CPS workers put my little girl in the home of the pedophile’s parents, and the court moved the case jurisdiction to Galveston County. I have been fighting for my daughter to come home. Thanks to a loophole in court orders relating to my divorce from Michael, joint custody was granted to his parents. This convicted pedophile now has far more access to my daughter than I do. He visits her daily. His parents see no reason to stop it from happening. She has told me she is alone with him sometimes but since I have no proof, my hands are tied. The pedophile’s parents still have my little girl. They have stated under oath they believe he is only “technically” guilty, meaning they don’t believe my children's testimony, nor the court’s judgement. They have told me off the record they believe he is innocent. Please – sign my petition to bring my daughter back home with myself and her siblings, where she belongs and where she will be safe.

  • North Carolinians - Oppose guns on campus and other places
At any point, the North Carolina State Senate could consider H.B. 937 - legislation that would allow for guns on university and community college campuses, at assemblies where admission is charged (like stadiums and concert halls), parks, restaurants, and bars.  The House has already passed this outrageous bill and we must stop it in the Senate. This legislation is part of the gun lobby's playbook of pushing guns into every public space they can.  We need to send a message to State Senate President Berger and the Senate that guns don't belong on our college campuses or places like parks, restaurants, and bars. The University of North Carolina System, along with the League of Municipalities and others all oppose this legislation.
