OSHA: Require MSDS's to identify GMO's in the worplace. The existence of GMO foods is nearly universal in the workplace. Each and every individual strain of any gmo crop is an unknown potential toxin for which no long term studies have been conducted. Workers are not merely exposed, but actually consume, in massively greater than parts per million quantities, these unnatural compounds, whose safety is compellingly suspect by an ever growing body of concerned scientists. As a potential toxin, the Right to Know Act should apply to gmo's in the workplace and not enjoy any exemptions that might apply to natural foods from the actual Earth biology. Regardless, concerned workers have the right to know under the Act and food manufacturers must supply the requested MSDS's upon request.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dick Boland

Did you know that Limited Licensed Practical Counselors (LLPC) will never lose their limited licensure and can work and supervise LLMSW and LMSW, and can bill all billable entities.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michigan Network of Social Workers

Denounce corporate patents on human genesIn the wake of Angelina Jolie’s exhortation for “every woman” to explore their risk of breast cancer, one company stands to make a staggering profit. The BRCA1 gene for breast cancer is patented by a corporation called Myriad Genetics. All patents are government-enforced monopolies over intellectual property, and they thus prevent anyone else from conducting research or testing on the BRCA1 gene without paying huge royalties to Myriad. This is why the BRCA detection tests cost $3,000 - $4,000 each. If there were no patents on human genes these tests would cost much cheaper . But since patents are allowed, Angelina Jolie's announcement of a double mastectomy even though she had no breast cancer caused the stock price of Myriad to skyrocket to a 52-week high. Our genes are ours, There is no right for a corporation to have a patent on our bodies and thereby make tremendous profits from health care! Why has the media drawn such attention to Angelina's act but ignored this basic fundamental flaw in the laws!39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Diana Castillo

Restore Library Hours in Sonoma CountySince the summer of 2011, hundreds of thousands of county residents have been deprived of the use of our local libraries on Mondays and evenings, due to an ill-advised 25% cutback in hours countywide. Libraries feel overcrowded during the reduced hours they are open. The number of children participating in library programs has fallen by more than 12,000 a year. Seniors, children, parents, and the needy are the hardest hit by this failure of government, for the first time in our local library system’s 109-year history, to adequately fund this vital public resource. Yet the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has refused to take responsibility for addressing this budgetary shortfall and has no plan to restore library hours for the coming fiscal year. The library system's $1.3 million shortfall represents just one-tenth of one percent of our county’s $1.3 billion budget. During this library funding "crisis" period, the Board of Supervisors has approved numerous expenditures that serve fewer citizens, are less popular, and less urgent. For example, during last June’s budget deliberations, our supervisors voted to add $8 million to the county's $80 million road maintenance budget. And since 2006, it has also added millions more per year to fund an unpopular 250% increase in county marijuana busts, prosecutions, and incarcerations. Sonoma County is relatively wealthy, and our government has sufficient taxpayer resources to fund the restoration of library hours for the coming year—provided that our Board of Supervisors responds to this urgent public need. This public awareness campaign and petition is a volunteer project of Sonoma County’s Progressive Source Communications. Please help us spread this petition. Without public awareness there can be no public pressure, and without public pressure, county supervisors will continue to ignore their responsibility to restore library hours. More information and contact information for the supervisors is available at RestoreLibraryHours.org.1,856 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Jonathan Greenberg www.RestoreLibraryHours.org
