• "Please restore the Philadelphia School Budget and save our Instrumental Music Programs"
The Philadelphia School district wants to eliminate the Instrumental Music program. This elimination will affect many students. Philadelphia Schools have had a long standing tradition of excellence in music programs at the elementary, junior high and high school level. Many famous musicians probably started out playing an instrument in their school. If the school band, orchestra, and choir students keep working very hard, they could become a very skilled musician. Many of our former students could become or are musicians in major orchestras and college professors of music. This would’ve never happened if they hadn’t taken instrumental music classes when they were young. Taking away these programs for our children is unfair and denies them the same opportunities that wealthier school districts can afford. Please restore the Instrumental Music Program in the School District of Philadelphia.

  • Stop using Drinking water on Grass
Clean drinking water is one of our most precious resources, next to clean air. We are rapidly depleting this precious resource, to water grass to make it appear green. In the middle of arid climates, where our River resources are rapidly being depleted, this should be self evident. Though how many can readily see water being wasted daily, hourly and every minute just for aesthetic purposes? Grass should not be grown in arid climates, let alone be grown at the expense of depleting our precious rivers, wells, & aquifers. Take a stand and stop watering grass all together.

  • Pandora Should Ban Hate Ads
I love Pandora. But on March 15 and 16, I heard advertisements on Pandora by FAIR--an organization identified as an immigration hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (more information available at http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2012/08/10/how-do-we-know-fair-is-a-hate-group-let-us-count-the-ways/). According to Pandora, in the month of April 2013, the company had 70.1 million users, listening to a total of 1.31 billion hours. Unfortunately, Pandora has not limited their advertisements to ensure nationally-identified hate groups do not gain access to air time on their radio broadcast.

  • Verizon Fios:offer same rates to loyal customers
Fios was offered to our area 3 years ago. We signed up. Our contract was up a year ago, but we continue service. I notice that Verizon now offers a lower rate to new customers, but to their loyal longtime ones, we get to pay more. Seems unfair. Same rates for everyone!

  • Fix the Sequester and Protect Vulnerable Women and Children
By cutting funding for programs that prevent domestic violence and sexual assault by tens of millions of dollars this year, the arbitrary budget cuts known as “sequestration” are making it harder for vulnerable women to get the help they need. According to one senator’s projections, more than 70,000 domestic violence survivors will lose access to recovery programs and shelters that offer a lifeline to women in abusive situations. Tell Congress to fix the sequester by replacing these senseless cuts with a balanced approach to deficit reduction.

  • Save our planet
Our planet is rapidly deteriorating. Soon it will become a barren wasteland devoid of any life what so ever. The only remnants of our time spent on earth will be mountains of garbage filling every existing crevice. Preserving our planet and creating a sustainable way of life on Earth should be the top priority of every human being.

  • Eliminate tax exempt status for all political organizations
There would be no IRS scandal at all if there were no tax exempt (501-C4s) status. There is no reason to pretend these organizations are chartible groups in any way.

  • Stop the Money Flow in Washington, D.C.
This is about the high salaries and benefits package received by our legislators and congress men/women. You should be concerned because it is your money that is funneled to them via taxes. It is time for them to not make any laws in which they do not follow. We get Obama care; they get the best health insurance. We are lucky IF we get a retirement package; they are assured a lifetime retirement (even if serving only one term). We get social security; they are exempt and have their own package. They vote themselves raises; have you had one recently?

  • Stop High Gas Prices
In the last week the prices of gas jumped $.17 and again the gas companies said they raised it because their doing maintenance on a refinery. We need to stop this yo-yo effect that gas companies are using on the people. We already pay fees that are suppose to be used for maintenance or any other disaster. Lets place a ceiling on prices to no more than $.05 for emergencies from a price of $2.99 for gas.
