  • President Obama: Stop the XXI Century Trail of Tears
The Obama administration so far has deported over ONE MILLION non-criminal, otherwise law-abiding, undocumented immigrants: family women and men contributing to Society and pursuing their American Dream. That is an order of magnitude larger than the forced relocation of American Indians from their homelands in the Southeast to the Southwest, in what came to be called "The Trail of Tears." In this, its XXI century version, however, it could be argued the pain is even worse, and the tears more abundant. Families, where the dearest and most important human bonds reside, are broken apart by senseless and needless actions of the Government - and at great expense to the taxpayers, may we add.

  • CREDIT FAIRNESS FOR THE WORKING CLASS
Credit histories are working against the working class and for the banks, it is used on everything from jobs to auto insurance ,it has gotten out of control. With the extremely poor job that Credit Bureaus did rating Mortgages that were packaged as derivatives during the Financial Swindle that Wall street played on the US taxpayers ,& middle Class homeowners, short of a major overhaul the best thing we can do is reduce the Impact Credit Ratings have on Working Class Americans. Lets bring Credit rating usage back to what it was intended for , Credit ratings should be used only to check the Credit worthiness of those who are about to borrow money either from a Bank, Credit card Company or the Government, nothing else.

  • Ban fracking now!
Hydraulic fracturing (fracking) is an environmentally destructive practice which is polluting water resources and impacting communities with toxic waste spills, polluted air and water, and earthquakes. Fracking also uses a lot of water, severely impacting agriculture and urban water supplies. This is also enabling the release into the atmosphere of carbon that was sequestered in the Earth millions of years ago.

  • Government Telling People Save for Senior Days
People have been told by White House on down thru channels to save for their retirement. I have some investments. Now I have reached that magic 70 yr. point & I am told I have to start drawing on it. I don't need it right now, but I have to draw it or be penalized. In turn I have to pay taxes on something I have already paid taxes on. I am being forced to receive what I might need in later years to survive & be self supporting. I am sick & tired of our government telling me I don't know when I need to draw out some of my investments.

  • Illegal Inspection Ordinance in Highland Park NJ
The Borough of Highland Park has quietly passed and illegal ordinance (135-25) which requires ALL Highland Park residents to register their home for inspection, and pay $100 per upto 3x per year! Each time you rent your property you must pay $100 and allow inspectors into your home for their approval. This is unprecedented compared to normal inspection regulations. (1x every 3 years) If you do not or do not agree you can be fined $500 per day as long as the BHP sees fit. The town has also criminalized housing matters which means you could be arrested as a criminal in your home. This of course is against the law but the Judge Herman of Highland Park does not seem to care as long as you keep paying and filling his coffers. As of 2012 the relavent case law Heine vs NJ states very clearly a municipality can NOT criminalize housing matters and fine citizens let alone arrest them for housing tickets. This illegal ordinance and fining must be stopped!

  • Paul Ryan - Wrong Choice as Commencement Speaker
The president of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, asked Paul Ryan to speak at commencement. However, Ryan is a terrible choice because his proposed budget is immoral and in direct opposition to Catholic teachings. Ryan supports tax cuts for the wealthy and increased military spending while limiting or decreasing social programs that help families, the poor, and the middle class. He proposes capping Pell Grants at today's maximum and raising interest rates on student loans. Most Benedictine students rely on these government programs.. He says that his views are based on the philosophy of Ayn Rand who believed that helping others was immoral. He is not a positive role model for the graduates of Benedictine..

  • Gov. Brown: California's $4.5 billion surplus must RESTORE CUTS, not fund Wall Street
State budget cuts during the Great Recession have been devastating. Tuition is up more than 50% at the University of California and California State University systems. CalFire is doing its best to fight raging wild fires in Southern California, despite cuts of $27 and $34 million. Thanks to progressives, California passed Proposition 30 last fall, increasing income taxes on the wealthiest 2% of Californians. The results are better than anyone could have hoped. In one year, we've gone from a $16 billion deficit to a $4.5 billion surplus. But now, Gov. Brown refuses to use the extra funds to restore horrific cuts made during the Great Recession. Instead he wants to pay Wall Street banks. The real way to fix California's debt problem is to grow the economy through funding education and other vital programs.

  • The Air Force's chief of sexual assault prevention did WHAT?!
In the early hours of May 4th, Air Force Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski -- head of the Air Force's sexual assault prevention program -- was “arrested and charged with sexual battery,” according to the Arlington, Virginia police department. Krusinski drunkenly “approached a female victim in a parking lot and grabbed her breasts and buttocks.” It's become clear that the military is not capable of solving its epidemic of sexual violence. Despite years of studies and initiatives, there were 26,000 sexual assaults in 2012 -- more than 71 per day -- up from 19,000 in 2011. Chuck Hagel, the new Secretary of Defense, must immediately endorse the STOP Act, which would take the prosecution, reporting, oversight, investigation, and victim care of sexual assaults out of the normal military chain of command and place jurisdiction in an autonomous Sexual Assault Oversight and Response Office made up of military and civilian experts.

  • Basketball Rims: We Need New Ones
The rims at our park are double rimmed and made super stiff so it's not forgiving... it doesn't catch the ball. A person can't get the ball in unless it's a swish or a lucky bank shot. This problem has affected me personally. I live across from this park and since the rims are terrible, I do not ever want to play. In fact, no one ever plays on the park court so it's simply a waste. They are nothing like our league rims that we are all used to that are plastic. These rims are metal.
