• Appeal for Mathew Aime
After a horrible boating ACCIDENT Mathew Aime was found guilty and is serving 15 years in Prison. His public defender not only failed to properly represent Mathew Aime, but the justice system failed Mat. All we ask for is an appeal- for a Judge to reevaluate the case file and give Mat a fair chance.

  • PTA: Auction 3G Licenses in Pakistan
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) has been dragging its feet for the past several years on the issue of auctioning of 3G licenses in Pakistan. Various reasons are given for this, from lack of interest from the Government to the Telcos not being ready for the migration from 2G to 3G. The country is not only far behind internationally (4G networks are already being rolled) but also regionally where even a war-torn country like Afghanistan has migrated to 3G. And the interesting part is that the Government is expected to earn a good 1-2 billion dollars (depending upon various estimates) from the auctions alone (not to mention the countless jobs that would be added to a stagnant Telco market).

  • No to US military intervention in Syria
Republican Senators like Lindsey Graham and John McCain are demanding that the Obama Administration get the U.S. involved militarily in Syria's sectarian civil war. But after the experience of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, President Obama and U.S. military leaders are right to be wary of these calls. If we don't have enough money for Social Security, veterans' benefits, Head Start, and cancer clinics, we don't have enough money for another war. Urge Congress and the President to resist calls for another rush to war in the Middle East, and support a political solution instead.

  • Oppose Chained CPI
Chained CPI is a damaging, unfair cut to Social Security that has been proposed by President Obama. We need to protect this vital program to our current seniors and the millions of working class people who are going to rely on this in the next 20 years. Cathy McMorris Rodgers should oppose chained CPI to keep Eastern Washington's middle class strong

  • No Chained CPI - Social Security Cuts
President Obama, and Congress want to cut Social Security for Seniors, and Disabled Veterans. I 'm a Senior, and I do not want to see my Social Security, or the Veterans, cut so that the President, and Congress, can balance the budget, on the people that can least afford it.

  • Slam the door on Bank Bailouts
This bill would create an entirely new, transparent and ungameable set of capital rules for the nation's banks. It requires banks to hold a significant amount of capital in a rainy day fund. In addition: 1) bankers won't be able to manipulate rating agencies; 2) off-balance sheet assets, derivatives and liabilities must be included in stating a bank's assets; 3) Megabanks will be forced to increase their capital or bring down their size. Help Brown & Vitter wage war on the financial machine (lobbyists) to move the bill forward.

  • Reveal The Contents of the Trans-Pacific Partnership to the public and Congress
The aim of this petition is the revelation of the contents of the Trans-Pacific Partnership to the public and to Congress. The Trans-Pacific Partnership are on-going closed-door talks between the U.S. and Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam; with countries like Japan and China potentially joining later. 600 corporate advisors have access to the text, while the public, Members of Congress, journalists, and civil society are excluded. The agreement would offshore millions of American jobs, free the banksters from oversight, ban Buy America policies needed to create green jobs and rebuild our economy, decrease access to medicine, flood the U.S. with unsafe food and products, and empower corporations to attack our environmental and health safeguards.

  • SOCIAL SECURITY MYTHS
Social Security drains the Federal budget. That's a lie. Baby Boomers will drain the fund, if we don't make cuts. That's a lie. Young people don't care, because Social Security won't be there for them anyway. It WILL be, if Congress stops raiding the trust fund.

  • ASUN: Say "Yes" to Growth, "No" to Cuts
Several students enjoy the publications currently funded by the ASUN, but the association has limited their ability to solicit advertisements and has now elected to severely cut their backing budgets. This unsustainable strategy will disenfranchise many students and will harm the university's ability to compete. The arts must not be sacrificed in the name of politics--these cuts must be stopped.
