• McCarley Gardens/Fruit Belt Community Master Plan Petition
University At Buffalo's and the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus's 2020 plan is to systematically gentrify the McCarley Gardens and Fruit Belt neighborhood, not to mention imminent domain and land banking. The residents have no say in what happens to them. The tenants of McCarley Gardens face displacement due to UB's attempt to purchase the property from Oak Michigan Development Corp. (an arm of St. John Baptist Church). The city of Buffalo gave control of their properties to this Corporation in the Fruit Belt causing health problems and damage to properties as a result of the construction work. Also, the employees of the Campus are parking four blocks into the Fruit Belt, therefore leaving no parking space for the residents. They have four more building projects which means additional parking and construction issues.

  • LEFT TURN- NOT U TURN
This state rd 434. In order to get to I-4 or any place in that direction it is necessary to turn left. I moved here from south florida where there are very few places where uturns are allowed due to safety issues.

  • FAILED BY ATTRITION
Reverse the foolish notion that if you make living in the US hell for undocumented and overstays, that they will 'give up' and sacrifice what our Supreme Court deemed all that makes life worth living and return to counties without hope, futures or security.

We have a very slow job growth rate. Has the money given to the banks during the bailout being used to create jobs?

  • No Walmart in Arvada, Colorado
There are 4 Walmarts within 5 to 10 miles of the location where this one is proposed. One at this location is not wanted and would create traffic problems for local residents.

  • Public Transportation for Wis./Dane County
Dane County has a large elderly and handicapped population with little or no public transportation to use on appointments, shopping, socializing, entertainment. I believe there are buses, vans, taxis, and private vehicles that could be used with a coordinated effort and some public funding. Support for drivers to acquire the necessary driving license along with gasoline subsidies are needed.

  • Illinois Governor and Legislature
Benefits that were agreed on are in danger of being cut for current and retired Illinois employees. This petition is to inform the legislature of our feelings. Their vote to cut benefits will be reflected in the next election through posting of each member's voting record.

  • publicly funded elections
This IS the issue of our lifetime. Nothing else approaches it's importance on the face of the earth today. Not GLBT, not second amendment, not immigration reform, nothing touches the critical subject of clean and fair elections. For if we do not have elected representatives who are in place to act as solely as agents of U.S. Citizens then we can't guarantee any of these other rights will be safe.

  • evening out pay
I think Congrss medical coverages be changed to the same as medicare and every time social security or medicvare is cut congress pay is cut they should pay taxes on all the perks received same as the working person and they should not earn retirement until they have 12 years of retirement also they would only be allowed 4 terms so new blood can come in

  • Fuel saving
We have had "right turn on red" for many years to save fuel. We need to further reduce fuel waste and idling pollution by reducing the restrictions on left turns. When ever reasonable "left turn on arrow only" should be changed to "left turn yield" at intersections that do not have sufficient oncoming traffic to warrant the restriction.

  • Politicians Must Pass Scientific Literacy Test In Order To Serve
Recently we have seen many examples of an astounding degree of ignorance of basic scientific principles, procedures, and facts by many members of congress, and other government officials. From the denial of global warming/climate change to the belief in the magical ability of women to prevent conception after they've been raped. Do we want the future and present of our planet to be controlled and determined by such ignoramuses? We, the people, must make sure that our legislators can pass a test in basic scientific literacy -to be drawn up by recognized scientists in each field: physics; chemistry; biology; geology; CLIMATOLOGY; and, ecology, at the very least. No one should be able to assume office unless they have passed the test. (It could be called," No Politician Left Behind.") This is a serious proposal; our planet needs to be saved from environmental destruction, Now.
