Safe assistant living facilities in Va. for low income seniorsIn the Shanandoah and Rockingham County of Va. we have assistant living facilities that don't meet Va. building code and these private places have approx. 25 individuals living in sub-standard conditions that is barbaric, dangerous, and unhealthy for low income seniors that are receiving auxiliary grant from the state. I have petition Governor McDonnell, Senator Mark Warner, and numerous seniors agencies and getting no where with all of them. It seem they are more concern about ridiculous projects than taking care of the most vulnerable people of this country. I need help from lawyers, politicians who will give me some support in making sure these unfit facilities meet Va. building code standards or build new facilities for these people. The people of Va. should be ashamed to have such facilities operating in their state. I come from the poorest state in the US which is Maine and I wish some Virginians would visit the beautiful assistant living place the poor seniors of Maine live in. They are palaces as compare to what they have in Va. The places I visited in Va. you need to be a millionaire in order to live in them. They require a monthly income of $2500.00 per month and up. Who has this kind of income today unless you are wealthy? Also is your organization effective?2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rena Nadeau

Congress: Save American SkydivingPresident Obama's 2014 budget will charge a $100 user fee per flight for plane operators. Skydiving drop zones may fly 25 flights a day, or operate two planes, costing a possible $5000 a DAY. The US Parachute Association (USPA) has written to the President to change this proposed fee as well, but they need our support!8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ryan Doyle

GUN LOCK SAFETY LAWMany have died or been seriously injured from guns with no locks in homes through out America. Guns left in closets or hidden in places for children and even new owners of homes to discover. All GUNS will still be around in 300 years in someone else's hands. Long after the gun owner dies for any reason. Ensure the safety of the future to protect lives and prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands even in the home by a child.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Richard Zdeb

Demand change in Congressional payment.I'm writing to aks Congress (yes Congress themselves and the Senate along with the President) to cone together and change the way they recieve compensation for their work as elected officials. Instead of having them recieve payment that is unaffected during tough economic times they should ammend the way they recieve payment based on whether the economy is doing well or not. If the economy is in the slumps, then their pay gets cut in half until the economy shows signs of improvement. And won't return to its full ammount until the economy and job situation has reached the level it was at before it was considered bad. A simple ammendment to help in these difficult times.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Philip

Increase In Deductable Level College Loan Interest For 65+ Parents Still PayingThere is an annual limit on the interest on college loans you are allowed to declare on your tax returns (based on income). I personally pay a college loan balance of over $90,000 for a loan taken for my son a number of years ago. The interest on this balance is approximately $6500 a year of which I can only declare about $2500. I am recommending that the IRS increase the allowable interest that can be deducted each year for seniors age 65 and over paying for college loans to provide some cash-flow relief given many at this point have fixed incomes. My son is not in a position to assume or provide loan support.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jim Simak

Help Berks Countians Get a Public Hearing on the Berks Hollow Power PlantPA DEP TO APPROVE ANOTHER SHALE GAS POWER PLANT We're calling on you to ensure that the Berks Hollow Power Plant does not proceed before we get the public hearing we deserve. PA DEP is about to issue an air quality permit for a huge source of air pollution in Berks County - a natural gas power plant. This plant will emit many tons of volatile organic compounds and other harmful pollutants as well as methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Air pollutants from the plant and the station harm the health of nearby residents, create smog, and accelerate climate change. Pennsylvania continues to approve permits for large natural gas facilities at an alarming rate.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen Feridun
