• Support Pennsylvania renewable energy policy
Fossil fuels are unsustainable, yet they still comprise the majority of our society’s energy consumption. Technology exists, and continues to improve, for renewable and responsible development of solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and even of safer nuclear energy, but often the political will does not exist to commit to them over the more conventional, cheaper fossil fuels. H.B 950, 200, and 100 proposed by Representative Greg Vitali of Delaware County would 1) permanently ban gas drilling in the remaining untouched Pennsylvanian state forestland, almost half of which has already been signed away for development; 2) save the PA Sunshine Solar Program, which helps homeowners and small businesses to install solar systems; 3) amend the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act of 2004 to increase the renewable energy requirement from 8% to 15% and from 0.5% solar to 1.5% solar, which is more competitive with that of other states. These bills give us an opportunity to correct the dangerously unsustainable path that we are on now, and can lay the foundation for a building a brighter, more hopeful future.

  • Social Security?
Of course, anybody that has worked many years want to receive full benefits they are entitled to. Money was literally borrowed from the Social Security pot years ago by one President of the USA, and to my knowledge, that money has never been returned! It should be AGAINST the Law for lawmakers to even CONSIDER cutting those benefits at all!

  • Restore School Within A School (SWS) as a Capitol Hill serving neighborhood elementary school by ...
School-Within-School (SWS) will move to the Goding Elementary School building that currently houses Prospect Learning Center at 10th & F Street NE this fall. School Within a School is one of our most popular neighborhood elementary schools and has historically admitted a majority of neighborhood students through its local school boundaries. Currently, it has the highest percentage of neighborhood children of any school on Capitol Hill. School parents and neighbors applauded loudly when we learned it would receive its own school building at 10th & F, but we are very disappointed to learn that DCPS has dropped the school boundaries and is not providing ANY neighborhood preference. Already this year, two families who live directly across the street from the school had their children denied admission to SWS. Last year, SWS has the one of the few longest waitlists for PreK3 admissions in the entire city with 275 families seeking, but not obtaining admission. With a continuing boom in our neighborhood’s young population and no preference for neighborhood families, Capitol Hill parents stand to lose one of our most popular schools as a viable public school option for our children.

  • No more abuse, make the Healthy Workplace Bill a Law
I can not turn my head and allow workplace bullying. I have a new diagnosis with what I just experienced: PTSD due to a hostile work enviroment. I am still wondering if I am actually totally disabled from the bullying I just experienced, and am facing weekly appointments with mental health professionals. What can you do? I did talk to an attorney who said their's no law against "abusive work enviroments, that's why workplace bullying continues and is on the rise". Well, please help me to make an antibullying law, the bill is already written, and can be found under Mass.HB1766. Please everybody get involved! This is far too important to ignore, and is this worst form of discrimation as it has been brushed under the carpet for too long. I am just one of the millions that have been injured.

  • Stop Legal Kidnappings
This petition is about stopping Social Services from taking children from loving and deserving homes and putting them up for adoption. This happened to our family not once, but twice because my nephew was taken from my sister, he was placed in foster care and then with me where he was subsequently taken for mandates, whatever that means. I feel that he should be home with my sister as she complied with their demands and was told she had a year to comply, after 4 months of complying, they forced her to sign her rights over. He is currently up for adoption, all he wants is to be home and that is all we want to!!

  • Recall of "No" Senators
Jeff Flake voted against the Gun Control measure though the majority of the people in this country want us to pass such legislation and go further in preventing gun violence in the streets. By voting "No" he is bending to whim of special interest groups and not to the will of the people. You have to ask yourself how many does the NRA have in their pockets and those are the representatives we have to root out and send home pakcing.

  • 38-Hour Workweek, Stronger Economy
By passing a national law to create a 38-hour workweek, we can strengthen the economy and increase employment. For every 19 people working 40 hours a week, a new full-time job or two new part-time jobs can be created. With 114 million people employed full-time in the United States, decreasing the workweek by two hours will generate up to 6 million full-time or 12 million part-time jobs.
