Michigan: Ban The Plastic BagPassing a law regulating the use of plastic bags in Michigan will be a major step in aesthetically improving our communities while reducing the expense of plastic bag disposal. Furthermore, the regulation of plastic bag use would promote Michigan as truly being “Pure”. We use plastic bags for minutes, yet they persist in our environment for hundreds of years. The average person uses 360 single-use plastic bags every year. Despite efforts to expand recycling programs, less than 5% of single-use plastic bags are currently being recycled nationwide. The rest of these bags inevitably end up in our landfill or as litter, clogging storm drain systems, and making their way to the Great Lakes. Plastic bags entangle or are ingested by lake wildlife and shore birds, as well as break down into small bits that persist in the ecosystem and may move through the food chain if ingested by fish.1,310 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Michael Schlaack

What's wrong with this pictureWhy are we putting back air controllers when other important issues are still hurting because of the sequestration? Are policemen, firefighters, children, meals on wheels any less? Inconvenience is the lamest excuse I have ever heard of. 93% of Americans probably can't even afford to fly. POTUS really. Get your priorities straight. We fought for Pres Obama you need to stand by us.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cathy Rivera-Concannon

Stop Cel Phone Yearly ContractsI feel the phone companies have a monopoly on the type of phones non clients can buy. The really great phones are only offered with a Contract. If more people would move to prepaid, maybe cel Phone choices would be better and costs would go down.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Smith

Fix the Sequester Cuts for the Poor, Not Just Congressional TravelCongress is rushing to pass legislation today to end the airline delays caused by the sequester cuts. It's not a bad idea, but the sequester is causing all sorts of problems, so why focus just on this? The reason is Congress is hearing from wealthy contributors who fly frequently--and also they personally are going on recess next week and don't want to be inconvenienced when they travel home. This is outrageous. Cancer patients are being turned away from clinics. Kids are being thrown out of Head Start programs. Housing assistance, unemployment insurance, and food pantries have all been cut. Congress is ignoring all these emergencies--while focusing only on how they personally are being inconvenienced.4,506 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Randy Bernard

Tell Secretary of Interior Sally Jewell: Stop a Delisting CatastropheThe U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to remove all endangered species act (ESA) protections for most of the gray wolves across the United States. This would be a conservation nightmare. Delisting would prematurely turn wolf management over to the states, and we’ve already seen what can happen when rabid anti-wolf politics are allowed to trump science and core wildlife management principles. More than 1,100 wolves have already been killed in the Northern Rockies since Congress took ESA protections away from them in 2011. Please send an urgent message to Secretary of Interior Sally Jewell — demand that wolves retain the federal protection they need to ensure their recovery in the wild.165 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Keira Piette

An elected public official, slurring a religious or ethnic group is an outrage, but when the same...Oklahoma House of Representatives Co-Majority Leader Dennis Johnson slurred the Jewish people in his "Jew them down" remark on the floor of the House on April 17, 2013. This form of offensive rhetoric is unaccepable and must be not only stopped, but condemned. http://www.thelostogle.com/2013/04/18/state-rep-dennis-johnson-used-the-word-jew-as-a-verb-video/2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Don Davis
