• Referendum on WMS Co-Presidents Election
The recent proposed changes for the election of student body co-presidents make it so students no longer get to vote on their primary leaders. Bring this issue to a general student body vote, so that we can be sure a change of this significance actually represents the voice of the student body.

  • The Case To Impeach: Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H...
If it is acceptable for one of our children to be declared an Enemy Combatant, and so held indefinitely, then any of our children may treated in like manner under similar circumstance, and we do not perceive clearly where all of this may end. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has stated the case very clearly in HAMDI v. RUMSFELD: The very core of liberty secured by our Anglo-Saxon system of separated powers has been freedom from indefinite imprisonment . . .

  • CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF ARIZONA FOR WORKING FAMILIES
I am a single mother of 2 young children, a boy who is 9 and a girl who is 3. I work full time and go to school full time as well. Childcare is $150 per week per child and even by making $15 per hour I am struggling to make ends meet. I receive assistance from the state of Arizona for food and medical, but cannot receive childcare assistance because I am do not receive cash assistance and in order to receive cash assistance you must be unemployed. I know I am not alone and am starting this petition to ask the State of Arizona to help working families who have younger children with childcare assistance funding. I am not asking for them to pay all of the childcare expenses for each family, but a portion based on income (like they do in Washington State). Other states and countries provide assistance, especially when the parent or parents are working full time and in school and the State of Arizona should as well.

  • Uniform Application of the Law
I am outraged that members of Congress are allowed to exempt themselves and/or their staff from laws the rest of must obey. Any laws that are passed should exempt no one especially Congress less we develop into the masses and the privileged few. How dare the GOP and the Democrats collude to exempt themselves from Obama Care and "take the heat" together.

  • Congress Save the Unemployed
My wife is collecting emergency unemployment funds and the federal budget cuts known as sequestration require states to trim federal benefits known as Emergency Unemployment Compensation by roughly 10 percent. Our citizens who are currently unemployed should not have their funds cut especially with the weak job market. Once again, citizens who can least afford it are burdened with paying the federal debt. Tell congress to stop exploiting the poor and unemployed and find another way to take care of their debt.

  • University-Kern Beautification Project
I own a small business in the university area of El Paso, Texas. I also live in the neighborhood. We moved our business to this area because of the planned beautification project. This was about nine years ago. Nothing has happened and there is no longer talk of seeing this through. It seems that the city has shifted gears and moved their focus to downtown. This is great, we need that. Having a fun, beautiful, university area is critical for El Paso as it is the gateway between Utep, our historic districts and downtown. I would like to know what has happened to these plans and how can we get them going again?

  • Widow's benefit is unfair
When my husband died, I was barely age 60. The bills continued at 100% but the widow's Social Security benefit was only 60%. Widows at age 60 should receive 100% of their spouse's Social Security so they do not fall on hard times.

  • Leave Our Social Security Alone!
I am about to retire and do not understand why Social Security, a self-supporting fund, is on the chopping block. It does not cost the US Government one cent and statistically, is sound for 20 more years.

  • Save our Senior Citizen Health Benefits!
Our country's older adult population is being affected- Medicare cuts are affecting their physical therapy benefits and must not be allowed to continue. The impact to society and healthcare is too great for us to not act.
