• Protect NY Special Education Regulations in the NY State Budget
Please do not give up on our children in Special Education; they are not a lost cause! Students with Special Needs are being targeted and DISCRIMINATED against as you try and balance your state budget on their backs. The success my daughter, and many other students, have in school is because of these regulations which afford them the opportunity to succeed. I know many students that have graduated High School with the help of an IEP and have gone on to college and are on track to be independent, productive members of society. By striking down the regulations; you will be discriminating against my daughter and telling the students with special needs, in the state of New York, that you do not believe in them.

  • Raise minimum wage
We have seen the increase of fuel, food and every other expense of everyday living, but no increase in wages which is making the middle class poor and the poor poorer, the only solution is to increase the minimum wage.

  • MN Legislature: Stop the Frac Sand Industry from Risking the Health of Minnesotans
I care about this issue because of my 20 years as a public health professional and 15 years of bicycling in SE Minnesota. Numerous experts and state agencies (eg, MN Department of Health, MN Pollution Control Agency) have raised serious concerns about the potential health effects of industrial frac sand mining to nearby residents and tourists. Silicosis, lung cancer, asthma, contaminated drinking water, and increased vehicular accidents are devastating long-term consequences to risk for short-term financial gain.

  • Create Medical Marijuana Dispensary Laws & Tax it!
There is currently NO way to obtain medicinal marijuana in Nevada legally, yet it is ok to Grow your own. If policies were in place on a state level, We could introduce to the hospitals, a research program & an alternative option for Post Cancer Treatment Medication and the TAX revenue will be poured back to the state in order to support under funded community programs. - "Why do we have to hide in the dark with a state issued license to grow for personal use, yet we are preventing those who don't have that option, the freedom of choice to have treatment" We already distribute to people and patients in need, why not take the revenue back and help everyone's future, young and old!

  • Stop the TPP
The Trans-Pacific Pact (TPP) is a disastrous pact between a handful of nations that is including obscene protections for international corporations to get away with anything they want. With this agreement, governments, non-profit or any entity that complains or works to resist any actions that a corporation does in nations in does business in, could be legally sued for millions and billions of dollars.

  • Support Autism Insurance Coverage in Tennessee!
Children and young people on the Autism spectrum deserve insurance coverage for autism-related therapies! Sign the petition! We are so grateful to Senator Jim Tracy & Representative Kevin Brooks for filing Autism Insurance Reform bill SB1286/HB1265! Studies show that Autism treatments like behavior therapy can make all the difference in the world for a young person on the Autism spectrum, and give our kids their best chance to become independent adults. However, the vast majority of Tennessee Autism families cannot afford these therapies for their children, because unlike 32 other states such as Arkansas, Kentucky, and Missouri where similar legislation has already been passed, the Tennessee insurance industry REFUSES to provide coverage for Autism treatments. Please sign the petition, and help us let our Tennessee legislators know that Autism Insurance Reform bill SB1286/HB1265 must become law in 2013 -- it just makes good fiscal sense for our state! We have wide bi-partisan support for this bill, and as of this writing have 30 legislators from across Tennessee who have already signed on as co-sponsors! Passing this legislation as soon as possible means that more children with Autism in Tennessee will receive the treatments they need to grow up to be contributing citizens, and our families need insurance coverage NOW. For some, Autism therapies can mean the difference between becoming a taxpayer… or not. Please help Autism families in Tennessee -- support Autism Insurance Reform SB1286/HB1265 and help it become *law* in 2013!

  • Universal background checks for ALL gun sales
Self-explanatory. NO gun should be sold in the U.S. unless the buyer passes a universal background check, proving he/she is NOT a danger to anyone else, by having NO known mental illnesses, a protection from abuse order, or felony conviction.
