We need you to stand up publicly to the bullies and bigots along with the majority of Hoosiers in support of our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and families. I have married gay friends in California and elsewhere, and gay relatives who cannot get married in Indiana.

Twelve years ago, a group of vegetarians, most of whom were Hindus and Buddhists, successfully sued McDonald's for putting beef broth into its so-called "vegetarian" French fries. McDonald's agreed to apologize and give over 10 million dollars. But twelve years later, they're still cooked in it! It's disgraceful, unfair to vegetarians, and must be stopped!

If Western Youth Institute closes in North Carolina it will harm the economy in Western, North Carolina. I have several family members that are employed at Western Youth Institute a.k.a "High Rise" that are in jeopardy of being unemployed if this facility closes. More than 380 people will lose their jobs. This will definitely effect the local economy in our area. Governor McCory you are supposed to be assisting North Carolina with job creation. Why are you taking jobs away.

Chuck Schumer is the lead Senate Democrat working on immigration reform--he gets to decide whether millions of undocumented immigrants will be imprisoned or legalized. Yet he’s also taken over $100,000 in campaign contributions from the private prison industry. Is it any surprise he’s pushing for billions more dollars spent on increased enforcement and detention of immigrants? We can’t trust Sen. Schumer to push for fair legislation when he’s accepting money from private prison companies that have a strong interest in jailing as many immigrants as possible. How much of an interest? The two corporations from which Sen. Schumer took money, GEO Group and CCA, made $296.9 million in profits from the jailing of immigrants last year. Tell Sen. Schumer to return this money immediately. If 15,000 people sign, we'll personally deliver your petitions to Sen. Schumer and demand a response.

California can strike a blow against Citizens United by passing the California DISCLOSE Act, a bill that would shine a bright light on the shadowy interests who depend on secrecy to influence elections. The California DISCLOSE Act (Senate Bill 52, Leno-Hill), sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign and endorsed by Progressives United, local MoveOn.org counsels, and over 100 other organizations, would mandate clear and prominent disclosure of who is behind political TV, radio, print, and mass mailer ads -- on the ads themselves. SB 52 will stop special interests from hiding behind fake committee names by requiring ads to show their actual original contributors. Giant corporate interests are trying to kill SB 52. Ohio's Clean Energy Law has helped create enough renewable energy to power more than 95,000 homes, and its energy efficiency programs have saved enough electricity to power at least 267,000 more homes.But now, Ohio’s biggest utility and one of its biggest polluters is launching an all-out assault to keep us hooked on dirty energy. At every step of the process, FirstEnergy Corp has undermined Ohio's commitment to clean energy. They've missed annual targets for clean energy. They've taken advantage of loopholes to avoid investing in efficiency programs. And they lobbied to block the financing of Ohio's largest solar project. Now, they're pushing for legislation at the statehouse to roll back Ohio's Clean Energy Law.

Our Constitutional Rights and personal liberties are being infringed upon with the enactment of laws such as The Patriot Act and National Defense Authorization Act as well as new restrictive laws. I stand with Benjamin Franklin when he stated, “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

I find that the $8.55 per hour wage for care providers who work at homes of people with disabilities and seniors to be below the realistic cost to survive in the modern community. Because of the much work of care providers, lifting clients; cooking; cleaning, should be respected and thus paid more. I am asking that the wage increases to $12/hour. I had a friend who did this for a person, being a care provider, and hardly made the cut in paying bills or buying food.

Montana legislators are trying to block federal family planning money from coming into the state! This is money serves over 25,000 low-income Montanans and saves taxpayer money by preventing unplanned pregnancy and STDs.

I live in a town that flourishes because of the university students. Many of them make their homes here permanently. Others live here for several years. Their presence makes this a better place. Yet, our elected officials keep making it more difficult for them to vote. Now they want to stop many of them from voting at all. If Indiana seriously wants to stop the brain drain, this is not the way to do it. If we allow the legislature to take voting rights from students, who will be next--women, blacks, the disabled? We must stop it NOW.
