Endorse Modified Wrestling Program for Highland YouthWrestling gives youth an outlet to expend energy in an organized sport and teaches lessons that can be translated into other aspects of life. Wrestling helps develop life skills that encourage and build strength in self-esteem, leadership and work ethic. Wrestling tests one’s strength and physical ability which is innate and fun! Our youth need an opportunity to experience these values and traits that are enhanced by wrestling. A modified wrestling program would benefit our kids greatly because: • Anybody can wrestle – wrestling doesn’t discriminate. No matter your body type – height or weight – there is a place for you in wrestling. So you’re never too small or too big to participate. • No cuts due to lack of talent or skill. One’s strength and physical ability with determination is all that is needed. • Discipline – work ethic, focus and concentration are all traits learned, because it is a one on one sport, unlike other team sports where you wait for a ball to come to you. • Success has more to do with investment made rather than the natural gift one is given. • Provides a sense of belonging, self-confidence and pride. • Currently basketball is the only winter sports option for our youth. If you are not one of the few kids to make the basketball team, then there is no other modified winter sport for kids to participate in.52 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sally Bellacicco

End Lane Splitting CA DMVIn the interest of safety and to prevent the inevitable accidents by the uncertain movements of irresponsible drivers on California's Freeways. Governor Brown, please either enumerate the benefits of such a dangerous practice or ban it on all roads with clear and appropriate enforcement policies. Adding reasons to be a defensive driver is not in the interest of safety141 of 200 SignaturesCreated by John V

Help NYC Ban Plastic Foam PackagingNew York City Mayor Bloomberg wants to ban plastic foam food packaging because, as he said, it is "virtually impossible to recycle and never bio-degrades." New York must deal with about 20,000 tons of plastic foam waste every year, costing taxpayers and the environment.7,713 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Drew Hudson

End Cannabis ProhibitionIt is time we prioritize Oregon's budget, and bring our values to the floor to realize our goals. We need serious funding for education, healthcare and infrastructure, and we need to end waste. Prosecuting nonviolent cannabis offenders is an unnecessary misuse of scarce manpower, equipment, court time, and prisons. This one act of legalizing adult possession and cultivation will immediately free these resources for actual public safety concerns. Families are torn apart and lives risked daily to enforce an unnecessary law. Cannabis has been proven as a natural remedy for relief of many ailments for thousands of years in many cultures throughout the world.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Graham Keller

Collision CoursePresident Obama has been saying he wants to address climate change, but in the same speeches he says he wants to speed up the permit process for new natural gas drilling -- that means hydraulic fracturing. New York's Governor Cuomo and New Jersey's Christie have also vowed action against the cause of the severe storms that have devastated their states in recent years. I attended a FRACKED FOR REAL presentation this summer, given by three farmers from Pennsylvania all have leased land for natural gas development and regret it. They can't drink their water, their families have developed health problems, as have their livestock. The industry says natural gas has half the greenhouse gas impact as coal or oil, but recent studies show that the amount of methane released at all steps in the process show that there's no significant saving for the environment. Let's ask the president not to speed up the permit process for natural gas drilling, and instead increase investment in renewables.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Richard Levine

End Operation Streamline Now!Stop spending Department of Justice dollars to criminalize the poorest of the poor and most vulnerable people seeking the American Dream. While DOJ spends $10,000.00 a day prosecuting people who enter the United States without permission, the Courts have to make deals with drug runners and human traffickers. In December 2009, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals held that Operation Streamline’s group hearings in Tucson violate federal law. Courts have ruled that the assembly-line hearings in Operation Streamline violate Rule 11 on Due Process Requirements and the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution on Probable Cause. New prisons have been built in 3 states to handle the high rate of "convictions." Private prison corporations have gained $5.5 BILLION since 2005 for housing these voiceless immigrants in deplorable conditions; indeed they are the only people who profit from Operation Streamline. Yet, Operation Streamline continues processing 400 to 650 persons a day in 2 -3 hour court sessions, Monday through Friday in Yuma and Tucson, AZ; Las Cruces, NM; El Paso, Laredo, Del Rio, Brownsville and McAllen, TX. And now, there is discussion of expanding Operation Streamline from its current 8 locations to all locations on the southern border of the United States BEFORE comprehensive immigration reform can get started.95 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tonia Morales-Calkins

Strengthen Gun Control LawsAltough I don't have a strong connection to this topic, I feel very strongly about it. Too many innocent people are being killed. If we strengthen our gun control laws, the death rate from murders with guns will dramatically decrease.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tia
