My petition is about reasonable gun control. Too many people have died needlessly to continue the madness of this country's obsession with guns. Background checks must be implemented. I was almost killed by a person with mental illness who also had a gun. He had multiple arrests and was severely depressed. No one is trying to take away personal guns for safety, only the ones that shoot multiple rounds and are the weapon of choice for mass murder.

The Electoral College is an antiquated form of voting in the United States due the mobility we have as a nation. We need to transition to the Popular Vote, which will make every vote count and be subject to much less discrimination based on the Electoral College district boundaries.

There are many among us, my mother included, that are affected by serious ailments. All these so called "Miracle drugs" have more side effects than should be allowed. Failure to Change US Senate rules on the Filibuster

It's time to throw the electoral college into the dustbin of history. We can do this without waiting for the obstructionists in Washington, D.C. to act by passing the National Popular Vote Bill. When states possessing a majority of the electoral votes have passed the bill, then those states will require their electors to cast their votes for the winner of the popular vote. This will put an end to the legislative scheming currently under way to apportion some state's electoral votes so that it favors the legislature's majority party. It will also put an end to the current campaign process where each side concentrates entirely on the "swing" states while ignoring states that are safely in either camp. Gun control and assault weapon ban should be a must in California. I'm a teacher and we had three major lockdowns in our school district After Unfortunate incident of Sandy Hook elementary school. This is not right and fair to our students, teachers and administrators. Please work on this issue ASAP. Thanks

National and state discussions are focused on our 2nd amendment rights. Many ideas proposed by state and national officals seek to limit that right, because it is arguable that it could increase our safty. Befor we continue to discuss the idea limiting the second amendment. I think we need to look at the recent changes to constitution that have also limited and even voided our 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th amendment rights. Many people might not be completely aware of these changes and this should be taken into consideration when making adjectments to the second amendment.

Women do not have the same rights as men in the Military. We should be able to get whatever position we want as long as we earn it just like men. It is unfair and there reasoning is because we are untrustworthy and can't cover the men. This should not be an opinion but a fact that women can be just as successful as men in the Military. I do not want to compare it to racism, but it is very similar! Women should have equal rights and gender bans in the Military should be non existent.

We must stop the murders of Innocent victims by the use of weapons that have no legitimate use by private citizens and as a result of unreasonably lax regulation of the sale and possession of guns. The Maryland Legislature must pass Governor O'Malley's proposals to reduce gun violence.

Gold miners pay almost nothing to access Oregon rivers/streams to suction river bed gravels for gold. These floating gas/diesel powered motors pollute the water, the process degrades the river bed for salmon spawning, and the returning sand/gravel/mud turns the clear water muddy. Oregon taxpayers are left holding the bill for cleanup. California has banned this practice statewide.
