All health experts agree that soda is a leading cause of obesity and is linked to numerous other health problems. So why is it allowed in schools?

State Senator 9th district republican Bill Carrico is leading the charge to redistribute electoral votes from urban areas in Virginia. This will end the winner-take-all and one person...one vote. Urban communities..town and city dwellers, low income renters, the Housing Authority apartments. The people that the republicans consider insufficient until they need your vote. Second hand smoke has proven to be hazardous to people's health and it affects non-smoking adults and children in large enclosed apartment buildings. I wake up a lot of days to the smell of cigarette and marijuana smoke in my building. Sometimes it feels like someone is actually smoking in my apartment.

Many people are having to pay fees on their checking accounts. This to me appears to be entrapment considering that in this day and age everyone needs to have a checking account to pay for bills. Banks are doing this knowing there is no way out for there customers and easy money in there pockets without release the burden these same banks have impose on their customers.

These "retailers" create a serious risk to public safety, health, the spread of communicable disease, and allow for many illegal activies to take place (prostitution, drugs, theft).

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is far out of the mainstream when it comes to women’s health. His entire career has been an exercise in trying to reduce and deny women access to care. He has co-sponsored “personhood” measures that would give full legal rights to fertilized eggs, supported defunding Planned Parenthood, and was the first attorney general to file a lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA) — on the same day the bill was signed into law. Now, he’s trying to find ways to deny women access to birth control by letting your boss decide whether you get coverage through the ACA. What’s outrageous is that he is invoking the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to support his position — saying that employers who want to deny women access to birth control should engage in civil disobedience. In fact, Dr. King was among the first recipients of Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Award, and he said of health care inequality: “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.” Of course, Dr. King’s words are the opposite of what AG Cuccinelli supports. Nearly 1.4 million women in Virginia are potentially at risk of losing coverage if Cuccinelli has his way.

In America the disabled and elderly poor who are on government assistance are living very much below the poverty level. No matter how much they might want to work, they cannot. They are America's most vulnerable and should not be living in such misery in the richest country in the world.

Gov. Sam Brownback and his hand-picked "yes men" are working to impose their own agenda on the state. Listen to the people. They are creating laws that benefit corporations and the elite, not Kansans.

Several counties in New Mexico do not have a single law that protects animals from cruelty. New Mexico is the most enlightened state in the Southwest, and we should have up-to-date protection for animals scross our state.
