To create jobs, even before the idea of what to produce comes up, electricity has to be available, giga watts of it. It has to be cheap and it has to go on everywhere, no matter what. Under 37,000 feet of ocean water is sea bottom, and under that and ever other square inch of surface on this planet there is an unending source of heat. In 2006 at Chena Hot Springs, Alaska, (I believe) Conoco, and Carrier (air conditioning) Co. have put a geothermal electricity producing operation that has operated at minus 60 Fahrenheit. The cost of electricity has gone from .30 cents per KW to less than .07 per KW. It operates from the heat of the earth, and will for the next 4 billion years. We are going to run out of oil, coal and gas in the next few generations, and the costs are not going to come down. With the cost of production and start up time of the Nuclear facility in Louisiana, the whole United States could have one geothermal electricity producing plant in all 50 States, 5 years before the nuclear one starts up and put about 40,000 to 50,000 people to work, ad infinitum . The rise in Asthma, Allergy sensitivities, respiratory diseases all point to the main cause - the quality of the air we breathe. All the "controls" government dictates have done little to REALLY improve our air quality. What more can be done for this State to make it the cleanest air quality area in the country?

The United States is the only "civilized" country in the world where 30+ deaths a day due to gun violence is tolerated, in the name of democracy, or freedom, or a delusional sense of protection from some phantom government conspiracy. The time for such tolerance has passed. We need to act. Peacefully, but with great determination.

My son Christopher was only 9 months old when he was diagnosed with SJS. He endured so much pain at such a young age. At first it started out with fevers & rashes than he began to get blisters inside & outside of his body. He had to be quarantined because the doctors couldn't figure out what he had. He was unable to eat on his own, so the doctors had to give him a TPN which is an iv that feeds the body nutrient fluids through the vein in order to survive without eating solid food. He was unable to move & was in constant pain. As a mother it broke my heart to see my infant son go through this & there was absolutely nothing I could do to ease his pain or make him well again. By the grace of God & the Doctors who have dedicated themselves to help my son, he was one of the fortunate ones that survived SJS. He has not had another SJS breakout since & is a normal healthy 8 yr old boy. Please make August Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Awareness month so we help educate others on SJS & catch symptoms early enough to save lives.

Dear Mr. Perry , I am seriously concerned about the state of gun control here in the state of Texas. Too many people want to arm teachers and administraters in the schools, this is a bad idea. I have a lot of friends who are teachers. It would be so easy for kids to overpower the teacher with the gun and then turn that gun on the teacher. Instead I propose that we put xray machines on all campuses, elementary, junior high, high school and colleges , that would determine if an individual was bringing a gun or a weapon onto the campus.
