• Respect The Children
Every time there is a disaster that affects children, natural or man-made, television reporters stick a microphone in a child's face and ask how they feel about the death of a school-mate; are they sad because a classmate has died; are they comfortable returning to school, etc. etc. It is about time the media agree to confine their intrusive and tear-jerking interviews to adults. Let's end the manipulation of kids for the sake of sensationalism.

  • Change Credit Agency reporting rules
Credit reporting companies should not be allowed to hold negative information in individuals reports more than 5 years. Given the state of the economy since 2008 and the enormous bail outs the financial institutions received, the least consumers should get is a reduction in the credit reporting rules. Jobs, insurance and security backgrounds are all affected by these reports adding to the difficulty getting a job.

  • Governor Bill Haslam: Maximize TN Lottery Revenues for Education As Intended
In 2011, the Governor of TN was considering allocating TN Lottery Reserves to help support TN budget deficit. It has been reported that the CEO of the TN Lottery earns $600K a year. Rural schools are receiving after-school funds to purchase MacBooks while most of the proceeds come from the poor inter-city lottery players who do not even have an after-school program. So, is this reverse Robin Hood? Before moving to TN from GA, I thought the GA Lottery was bad, cutting back funding every year. At least the GA Lottery pays 100% of a high achieving college freshman's tuition. $4,000 does not pay even half the tuition for any college my son's applying to attend here in TN. According to the 2012 Quality Counts report from the Education Research Center TN scored in the bottom 10 of the 50 states in each of the four tested areas in the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Currently, TN students ranked second to last on the ACT test and approximately 21% of TN adults hold a college degree, far below the national average. Our children's education should be out top priority, and the mishandling and misappropriation of TN Lottery funds needs to stop.

  • Federal Electable Service Limits
Term limits for congress and Senate. The President has them and the others should also. Incumbency leads to members becoming so engrained in the election system, that a successful challenger must go in the sewer to have a chance and this mind set is not good for our country. A person in office for 50 years has no idea what two or three generations removed is interested in leading to dumb statements like legitimate vs. illegitimate rape. Enough is enough. A person may maximize their elected service with a total of 20 combined years in the house and senate and eight in the presidency. Twenty-eight years is the average time most American spend on a single career.

  • Congressional Spending Cuts
As senior citizens, we do not think it fair that Congress wants to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits in order to prevent budget cuts to the Defense Department, protect oil company subsidies and the wealthiest 2%. If they want the whole country to suffer through the budget cuts, then they, too, must be included. Make members of the Senate and House pay for their health insurance and take away all pension benefits.

  • FDA: Downclassify medical devices that don't satisfy the definition of Class III.
The Food and Drug Administration is required to classify medical devices into one of three classes. Due to a logical flaw in Form FDA 3429 that existed until July, 2012, certain devices were directed into Class III despite the fact that they don't satisfy the definition of Class III in the law. So far, FDA has failed to acknowledge this problem, which imposes a heavy burden on the makers of such devices.

  • Donations must be approved by an IRS seal
Everyday I keep seeing commercial after commercial about people asking the public too give too their so called non profit organization, their religious organizations and overseas donations, problem is their company car is about 80k,their homes are between 300k and millions and their travel expense is through the roof,I am tired of these people who claim too be helping others while helping themselves before anyone else. This should be against the law because their profit seems too be in all the material things they get from their so called non profit organization and no donation should be considered as a gift and if it is then the public should be told that they can not use it as a tax write off.

  • Make fine print on commercials bigger and shown longer.
I am tired of all these con advertisements that promise you everything under the sun until you read the fine print, problem is they may show the fine print but it's so small and flashed on the screen so fast, you can't read it unless you have a dvr. There was once a time when false advertisement was against the law but now a days ,these people can lie to you as long as they flash the fine print in their advertisements.

  • Mayor Cuomo: Please curb the tax cap overide in Westchester County!!
I am a resident of the city of Mt Vernon for twenty four years. The school tax accounts for the highest percentage of our tax revenue. Every year this increases and our children's education keeps decreasing. Governor Cuomo's recently imposed a TAX CAP OF two percent tax cap on the city tax in Westchester. The problem the city council has for the second year ignored the move and voted to over ride the cap.The practice of voting for this over ride must each year must stop now.

  • Congress: Revoke NRA tax exempt status.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) and the U.S. Supreme Court have subverted the Second Amendment for the benefit of gun manufacturers. The NRA tax exempt status reduces the revenue available for much more worthy causes, which in effect reduces the effectiveness of contributions by U.S. taxpayers.
