It has come to the attention of us as a nation that the recent act of gun crimes that have spurred in the recent five years have become more brutal and dangerous due to the simplicity it has been to acquire these respectable power of weaponry. With all the fear and panic of what people view to be the guns fault for the violence, they have left out the biggest factors in the majority of these travesties. Mental illness, lack of knowledge for the amount of damage a firearm can produce, and accessibility to legally owned guns for illegal activity.

I'm jobless and need to pay my mortgage. My daily expense has been reduced to minimum, and the SS is very important for my very basic needs.

Many retired people depend on their Social Security and Medicare for survival with no room for less. They have contributed over a lifetime of work so they could be secure in their retirement. They are ENTITLED to these benefits including cost of living increases. There is way more room for saving in places such as the Defense and Homeland Security and the Drug War.

Instead of focusing on access to firearms, we should be concerned with the help that is available to the mentally ill, in our sorrow over the shootings in Connecticut.

Eric Swalwell has a history of supporting developers, and he received large sums of money from real estate firms, builders, law firms, contractors and other businesses for his campaign for Congress. His campaign literature in 2012 said, "we need government and business on the same page," which is Republican-speak for "government needs to let business do whatever business wants to do"--in other words, unregulated capitalism, which is what threw us into the Great Recession, from which we're still recovering. Some of us--even some who strongly supported Swalwell in the election--are concerned that now that he's elected, he'll turn into a conservative, Blue-Dog Democrat, often voting with the Regressives rather than the Progressives.

Recap from 2012: Mass murder at a crowed movie theatre on July 20, innocent people at the Sikh temple on August 5, and now the butchering of children and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary school on December 14— how can we stop this gun violence? Deter or Stop the Shooter! Each State would pass legislation that creates local city laws that is enforced by a City Zoning Officers which would require that a security guard(s ) must be present at all private and public lands and/or buildings as a condition of operation. Similar codes/laws have been passed for handicap access, and the same can be achieved to protect our families, friends, and fellow citizens in public spaces. All Public grounds such as: schools, parks, religious buildings, recreation facilities; as well as businesses with a certificate of occupancy and/or conditional use permit which operates primarily for financial gain would have to comply with this public safety standard of providing a security guard (s) such as but not limited to: shopping, dining, amusement, and sporting establishments. Both private and public entities that fall under this city ordinance will have a Security guard(s) on premises at all times during normal business or operating hours. Security guard(s) shall be charged with preventing violations of law and shall be uniformed in such a manner so as to be readily identifiable as security guards by the public and shall be duly licensed as security guards as required by the applicable provisions of State law. No security guard shall perform any other duties while acting as a security guard.

President Obama made an offer to Republican John Boehner to cut Social Security benefits and leave in place some of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%. As the rich get rich the poor get poorer, and as the years pass a cuts will increase thereafter. Retirees will loose benefits that cover medicine, food, and other daily necessities. We need to protect every citizens' health and prosperity. We need to urge the Senate to reject this proposal and protect Social Security. Social Security Cuts and chained CPI will reduce benefits and income to seniors. This will severely hurt me over the years, plus many folks on social security living merely on this income and those on disability. Please increase the cost of living for seniors instead of decreasing it, as it is almost impossible to keep up with the cost of living and food prices and utilities as it is now. Thanks.

For the last six years, this bureau has lacked a permanent leader, hamstrung by the Senate's refusal to act on a confirmation. This has impacted the ability of the ATF to enforce firearms laws that are in place, computerize databases of gun owners, and respond to the powerful NRA lobby in Washington. Your senators should be acting in your best interests, not a lobby group.

This petition is about Gun Control Laws taking away the rights of All Americans when in fact these laws that limit what rifles we can own, what ammunition we can own, how many rounds a magazine can hold, etc, will do nothing to stop another mass murder event from happening again.
