• human rights vs corporate rights
The rights granted to corporations have become more powerful than those of the citizens of the Republic. Legislation is needed to affirm the supremacy of citizens in this country.

  • Improve Mental Health Care in the U.S.
With continued killings in our schools by people suffering a mental illness, a preventative and proactive program needs to be implemented, especially in the high schools before another tragedy occurs.

  • Save Our Children!
The gun lobby cares more about access to weapons of mass murder than the lives of our children. It's time we amended the Constitution and put in place a nationwide ban on access to and ownership of the weapons of mass murder that have put our children in constant mortal danger.

  • Melt the Guns
The guns like the .223 rifle, 9mm Glock and Sig Saur used at recent Sandy Hook Massacre and Colorado Theater tragedies were legally purchased semi-automatic or automatic guns. These guns are made for combat - i.e., killing human beings, and in the case of Sandy Hook Elementary, kindergarten aged children. Without an easily-obtainable automatic or semi-automatic weapon, there is no way 18-20 innocent five year old children and 6 parents would have been brutally murdered in just a few short minutes yesterday. Not only do we need to petition our leaders for gun control and supporting mental services but we need to take an active part as citizens to end this violence. We need to petition our corporations, like Walmart and others to take accountability - to stop supplying these type of weapons and enabling this type of tragedy. I thought last night after crying my eyes out - As a mother of elementary school children, what *action* can I take in protest to this violence in addition to petitioning to change gun laws? (see Staci Sarkin's SignOn Petition "Gun Contol. Now" http://signon.org/sign/gun-control-now-1?source=s.fwd&r_by=2262167) I realized I can also petition and personally go to Walmart, or other local gun shop and legally purchase one of these hideous assault weapons and with my sledgehammer in hand destroy it right then and there in front of the store. I can also ask Walmart to remove and keep them off the shelves. If every non-violent citizen in this country did this, we could get rid of them ourselves, and send a message - enough.

  • Stop Selling Automatic Weapons & their Ammunition
Tired of a government that won't stand up to the NRA? Tell the President & the Congress that civilians should not be allowed to own military weapons. Civilians should not be able to purchase ammunition for military weapons. And tell them to make it a crime if negligence leads to your weapon being used to commit a crime.

  • Prosecute the HSBC Bankers for their dealings with known Terrorist!
HSBC has been busted for having dealt with Al Qieda and other terrorist groups. They have helped to launder BILLIONS of dollars for drug cartels and terrorist organizations. They were responsible for a wire transfer to one of the terrorists just DAYS before 9/11/01. Its hard to know we live in a world where people who commit such horrific acts as dealing with the scum of the earth can simply walk free with no punishment... But that's where you live, unless we do something about it. HSBC "Failed to monitor of 60 TRILLION DOLLARS of wire transfers and bank account activities". The executives for this bank have gotten off with a very harsh... No Punishment!!?!!?! The US says basically they are to big to fail, and that prosecuting them could affect their licensing in the US which would affect the entire financial market, essentially giving a completely free pass to bankers at the top to break any laws as many times as desired as they are "To Big To Fail OR Jail!!!!"

  • Remove California judge who says women's bodies can prevent rape
As a rape survivor, I'm outraged by the recent remarks of California Superior Court Judge Derek Johnson, who said that a rape victim "didn't put up a fight" during her assault and that if someone doesn't want sexual intercourse, the body "will not permit that to happen." The California Commission on Judicial Performance admonished him but he's still on the bench.

  • Senator-elect Martin Heinrich: Make a Commitment to Ending Gun Violence
In 2012 alone, there have been no fewer than 16 mass shootings in the United States, killing a total of 88 people*. Although a Democrat, Martin Heinrich is a darling of the NRA because of his consistent support of measures that ease gun restrictions. It's time he re-thought his dangerous, outmoded stance on this issue. Please join me in calling on Senator-elect Heinrich to assure the people of New Mexico and around the country that he condemns gun violence and will do whatever is in his power to end it. * http://www.thenation.com/blog/171774/fifteen-us-mass-shootings-happened-2012-84-dead#

  • Require Training and Testing to Possess a Firearm
This petition is intended to show your support for a mandatory, Federal training, testing and licensing program for the possession of a firearm. Your signature shows your support of this proposal. We require training, testing and licensing for everything from beauticians, to doctors, lawyers and even driving cars, but we do not require this to possess a firearm. We need this change. Before a license is granted, people need to prove, through training and testing, that they can control both themselves and a firearm. Requiring a firearms possession license does not violate the 2nd Amendment. People need to prove they are competent enough to be granted the right to bear arms.

  • Repeal the Second Amendment
Enough violence Innocent children, religious worshippers, holiday shoppers are being slaughtered because guns are being legally sold to the killers. Americans should not have to worry about their safety when the worship, shop, go to school, and yet they should as long as the right to bear arms is in the Constitution.

  • Stop the Gun Insanity
We have all been affected by the recent and growing absurdity of the proliferation of guns that can be obtained by even the deranged among us. Schools and places where children and other innocent by-standers can be easily targeted must be better protected.
