  • Enough of Global Warming: Let's Fix it with Microalgae
Global climate change is steadily destroying the lives and the environment. As much as it is ignored global warming is only picking up speed. However, by investing in important green technology such as OMEGA (Offshore Membrane Enclosures for Growing Algae) we can minimize its impact. OMEGA grows extremely productive microalgae to use as a biofuel that simultaneously sequesters carbon. For more information watch: http://www.ted.com/talks/jonathan_trent_energy_from_floating_algae_pods.html or visit: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/research/OMEGA/index.html

  • Gun Control
Guns should be tracked better. Every gun should be turned in, and registered. Every gun should have a trigger that can only be turned on when it sends wireless beacons signaling its location. Any gun that comes close to gun free zone should raise an alarm so people can hide and armed police can be ready to apprehend the bad guy. No gun should be firable without its location identified.

  • Eliminate Corp. Welfare
Increasing gas prices at the pump and the subsequent indirect cost increases passed on to the public is draining the poor and the middle class. My husband fills his tank twice a week to commute to work. The cost use to be $22.00 per fill up, now it is $60.00 per fill up. That is an extra $76.00 per week from our budget from the pump alone! In the first quarter of 2012 the Senate extended the billions in subsidies to the oil industry. That first quarter Exxon posted a 104 million per day profit followed by a second quarter profit of 15.9 billion! Our money can't stimulate the economy when it is going into the pockets of the oil company only.

  • Tax bullets
Ammunition is a luxury that the nation can no longer afford. People are buying 5000 rounds of ammunition in one internet transaction. We tax sodas, cigarettes, liguor and eliminate transfats from our diets because of the harm these products do. None of them come near the harm caused by bullets. Ammunition should be taxed as a luxury item. There is nothing in the Constitution prohibiting the taxing of ammunition at punative levels. These taxes would help reduce the deficit in a time when both the federal and the state governments need help.

  • Arm Teachers NOW
On December 14, 2012, a gunman entered the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut and opened fire, killing what is currently being reported as a minimum of 27 people, 20 of whom were children. Completely innocent UNARMED victims. Columbine. Red Lake, Minnesota. Essex, Vermont. Lancaster, Ohio. Virginia Tech. To name a few. How many more innocents must die at the hands of murderers when our Second Amendment gives us the right to defend ourselves against such evil? Enough. It's time to stop the violence and allow teachers to arm themselves against such violence. This is the only proven, reliable way to ensure these senseless crimes no longer happen: DETER THEM, and if deterrence doesn't work - arming our educators gives them the chance to defend themselves.
