• Renew Tax Exemption on Short Sales
The tax exemption on short sales is to expire on December 31, 2012. This should be extended. Too many people are affected by short sales and cannot afford to pay taxes on balance owed of the short sale. My daughter has had an offer pending since May of this year and because the lender has been dragging their feet this sale may not be able to close before the end of the year. If this happens she would have to pay taxes on approximately $60,000. If she wasn't in a distressed situation in the first place, she wouldn't be selling on a short sale.

  • Adopt the Warren Buffet Plan
Friends and Fellow Americans: The looming fiscal cliff and the partisan politics at play keep compromise at bay. Resolution could come in the form of raising taxes for those earning well above the President's proposal of $250,000. Warren Buffet sets that bar at $1 million. His view is that the wealthiest amongst us have benefited the most and will always find ways to make money, regardless of taxes. It's time to support and adopt the wisdom and reason of Warren Buffet to resolve the fiscal cliff issue.

All full-time employees with families and others are being forced to be reduced to part-timers. This is not fair to employees with families to support.

  • Capping CO2 emissions to save our Planet.
Global Warming is a very real and present danger. Continuing on the course we are on, we are facing the extinction of 40 - 70% species when we hit +3.5* above normal average global temperatures. Unless we drastically target CO2 emissions we could see the end of humanity within 100 years. Let's make this a Global Priority instead of just another profit hurdle for large corporations! Let's finally let Science triumph over Greed.

  • $30 Mobile phone upgrade fee charged by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and others
Mobile phone companies charge their customers a separate $30 fee for making sure the new phone they sell you actually works! If a store charged you $30 to leave the store only after you buy something, you would not buy anything at that store. It's wrong for mobile phone companies to do this, they should not do it, and we should not have to pay it!

  • Make Voter Registration Drives Easier
Many of us volunteered to register voters recently, but were frustrated when we had to turn people away because they lived in a different municipality. The system should be changed to provide a more equal opportunity for people to register with Special Registration Deputies.

  • Every Public School should have a library
Being a librarian for going on 30 years, I have witnessed the demise of the library in the public school setting. With drastic cuts in state education budgets, libraries were hit hard and resulted in over half the schools in America without functioning libraries. Libraries have always been the heart of a learning institution. Literacy rates soar with a good library and we need a literate future society.

  • John Henry Lawson, Civil War Hero
John Henry Lawson was an African American who won the Medal of Honor for his actions aboard the USS Hartford at the Battle of Mobile Bay on August 5, 1864. For a significant portion of his life, Lawson lived in Camden, New Jersey. He also chose to be buried in Jersey soil. With the 150th commemoration of the Civil War currently taking the NJ Sesquicentennial Committee has elected to exclude John Henry Lawson from its list of New Jersey Medal of Honor winners, Also, Lawson, who was an African American, is the only MOH winner excluded by the committee. We want Lawson's name added to its roll of MOH winners.

  • impoverished middle class parents
In Pennsylvania families like mine pay 40% of net income for their children's early education. Single parents receive help, people with extremely low income receive help. But those people who decide to marry and work full time jobs receive absolutely no help. My family would be better off financially if i left the house. The family would be showered with benefits including subsidized daycare. Many families choose to live separately, or never marry because they would rather not worry about picking what bills to skip out on paying because they spent $1400 on daycare for the month, more than the rent, car payment, insurance, food combined.
