They're not concerned about working families; they only care about their profit margins. And Mayor Michael Bloomberg is their new co-chair. New Yorkers don't think working men and women should have to give up the retirement security they've paid for just to give the wealthiest another tax cut.   • Disabled Students in Higher Education need your help
    DSHE represents all Disabled Students in Higher Education. Disabled students have been discriminated against. UMKC allocates funds to other student groups but not to DSHE. Disabled students need more than just accommodations, we needs the support of UMKC.

    Running right through the middle of Salem, OR are train tracks that carry cargo and passengers at all hours of night and day. The trains blow their extremely loud horns and cause a great deal of distraction and peace-less sleep. Ordinances were passed a few years ago, but have never been implemented. It's time for someone to do something.

  • Stop walmart, demand fair pay for fair work.
    Alot of my family and friends work at walmart supposedly part-time only thing is they work a lot of sparatic hours, they are always on call or are being called in. With hours being forwarded to the next pay period, pre-scheduled work days are cut all in an effort i believe to deny even a decent weeks pay much less over-time. Thats not fair to the employee or their families.

  • West Hayden Island: PERMANENTLY Preserve ALL as Wildlife Sanctuary
    West Hayden Island is a small remaining fragment of lower Columbia River habitat which functions as a refuge for bald eagles, deer, and other native species which used to thrive here. Proposals to develop any part of it for other than natural wildlife refuge should be unthinkable for multiple reasons, but firstly due to air and water quality impact. None of the benefits promised by development of West Hayden Island are worth either the loss of this remaining jewel or the associated off-site environmental degradation.

  • Congress: Disallow change in wording of Social Security check/direct deposit
    There is great mistrust of Congress regarding it's veiled intentions to make Americans think that Social Security is part of the Federal budget when, instead, it is a self-sustaining Trust Fund, not to be tinkered with. Recently, new wording on SS checks and direct deposits now call it "Federal Benefit Payment/Entitlement" which is incorrect and deliberately misleading. SS is an Earned Benefit, legally withheld from our paychecks.

    The only way congress can remain fresh and effective is to have a constant infusion of new blood every few years. Incumbents have too much of a campaign advantage and become entrenched and out of touch with regular people. They spend all their time trying to get re-elected rather than legislating.
