Colorado and Washington have voted by ballot referendum to legalize, tax and regulate marijuana while countless more have legalized it for medicinal purposes, including Maine where I (petitioner) serve in the Legislature. It is time for the Federal Government to let states decide what is the best policy regarding marijuana use.

Every year our teachers struggle at home to pay their bills, while still being expected to make it work on time in order to teach our children and sometimes even expected to come out of pocket to pay for classroom activities necessary for our children's development and success. I know this is happening because I was a first hand witness; my mother was a teacher and educator for over two decades.

The interwoven fabric of our health care system is fundamentally sound and is simply to large to dismantle and institute a new system. Why not simply limit all health care and prescription drug insurance premiums to the same cost of living increases social security recipients receive. There is more than enough profit in the system to insure all Americans well doing away with preexisting conditions and life time medical caps. It’s not the care we receive, but the strangle hold the health care industry has on Americans. By controlling insurance company rate increases; they would have to keep Americans more healthy to increase their profit margins and control cost. The quickest and easiest way to solve our national health care system is to let the system fix itself.

These court files, Probate and Civil cases, date back to the 1830s in our county. We had some of them online until the Florida Supreme Court ordered that only "Official" Official Records could be placed online by a Clerk's Office. This is a valuable part of our history that sits in dark boxes awaiting the light that the internet provides. We should be allowed a 72 year period like the Federal Census or something similar.
