With their sweeping victories in the 2010 midterm elections, Republican governors and Republican members of congress have made it their top priority to make our Barak Obama a 1 term president. Contrary to their promise of growing the economy and focusing on jobs; which is why they were elected, they have obstructed every effort by the President to improve the economy and create jobs. Using unprecedented numbers of Partisan filibusters in the Senate and record numbers of partisan obstructions in the House of Representative, they have insured that president Obama get's blamed for Congresses' own created deficits and failures in moving the economy forward. This was all done in a deliberate and blatant effort to make the president fail, so that they could get an election advantage. Instead of supporting the President’s Job proposals or bipartisan Infrastructure bills, Republicans in congress have caused a near Government shutdown and a down grading of the US credit rating due to their unwillingness to compromise on anything, bringing this nation to the edge of a fiscal cliff. Instead of focusing on jobs as they promised, they have launched an all out campaign against women's rights, Unions and what was once a bipartisan, private sector driven, health care reform bill. Moreover, Republicans specifically have launched an all out attack on the People's most fundamental right to vote, by implementing broad sweeping laws drafted behind the closed doors of ALEC (American Legislative Council), across numerous swing states with the direct effect of suppressing the Democratic majority’s vote. These unprecedented new laws will dis-enfranchise and restrict voting access to millions of people who will not have the required 'new" credentials & ID's to vote. This will disproportionately affect minority voters, students and the elderly and greatly compromise the integrity of our Democracy and election systems. And all this is happening so blatantly and so close to a national election. Republican election officials are changing the rules every way they can, including thru redistricting, political gerrymandering, shortened voting windows, long voting delays due to huge ballots and all manner of voter suppression tactics. This is occurring in blatant view, all under the name of “protecting” from virtually non-existent voter fraud.

The Texas legislature has reduced funding for beautiful state parks, resulting in threatened closure and a large backlog of necessary repairs to park facilities. State parks are an affordable alternative for many Texans. Each park is representative of the diversity of Texas flora and fauna. Many are regarded as "jewels" of the State Park System. The Texas Park and Wildlife Department desparately needs support. As many as 100 TPWD jobs are threatened.

Here's a thought. Seeing that that there are PAC's to the Left and PAC's to the Right, how about for every dollar donated, 50% goes to pay down our National debt and also replace the money Bush siphoned from Social Security to pay for his dirty little war. You know, cutting tax revenue while starting 2 wars, then siphoning money from those of us that sent that money for retirement to SS, doesn't seem like fiscal responsibility to me. The biggest uptick for everyone would be listening to only half the commercials we're pounded with everyday. Don't be afraid to share this, I don't mind at all.

Keep pressure on the GOP and Romney campaign to make Romney apologize to the president for making public statements while we are in the middle of an international incident, with Lybia. He distorted information then went formal by undercuttiing the President of the United States publicly during an international crises, for those that wrap themselves in the flag to disrespect the office is close to treason. We must present a United Front at these times.Keep Mitt quiet on this issue as it unfolds. Lives are at stake, and he should not insinuate himself into this international issue.

In the State of NH building contractors such as roofers, carpenters, home remodelers are not required to be licensed. When they do work poorly or don't do work at all, there is little that can be done to protect consumers from losing a lot of money. They can be granted judgements and liens which are then added to a list of creditors when a contractor files bankruptcy. NOT ALL CONTRACTORS are bad, but some are. A little over nine months ago my family became victims of a contractor gone wrong. With decent Better Business Bureau ratings and a fair amount of positive online reviews, a contractor provided us a decently priced estimate to purchase and install 21 windows and an entry door into our 120 year old fixer-upper home. My husband cashed in his retirement plans with dreams of investing in our home which would then become our retirement plan upon it sale once our kids were grown. We handed the contractor a check for $9,000 and never saw him again. Eventually we were granted a judgment for repayment and the contractor was prohibited from taking any kind of deposits before satisfactory completion of a job. We were one couple in a growin list of victims that took action and contacted the NH Attorney General. Since then, we've received notice that te contractor and his associate business names has filed for bankruptcy. We have no hope that we will get our money back and no way to purchase windows for our home again. In an effort to protect consumers like us, I have created this petition that will ask the State of NH to take action and protect its consumers with the added benefit of protecting contractors that are honest and fair as well. I propose that when a consumer accepts a bid on a job be it a remodel, building a new structure, updating an existing structure, etc. the contractor will place the money for the job into an escrow account that neither party can access until the job has been completed to the satisfaction of both parties. The contract should clearly state specific terms including the deadline for job completion and avenues for resolution including arbriteation and mediation should either party become unhappy. If hard deadlines aren't met, consumers should be entitled to a refund in full for no work completed down to a discounted rate per day of being late. I consumers feel that the work was not completed or was done poorly a third party would be required to evaluate the work that was done and through mediation and arbriteation, determine what, if any portion of the money should be refunded. This will prevent contractors from taking deposits and running or from failing to complete a job at all or within a reasonable time frame. Further, this will prevent contractors from being treated unfairly by consumers that make up excuses to get out of paying the full contract price.

I am currently unemployed..and I have been for over two years off and on.My major issue is not being able to get free training becuase I am not poor yet I do not have enough money to take classes and keep my house and take care of my wife (who has also been unemployed) and daughter.
