The Electoral College violates the principle of one person, one vote and should be eliminated. It was put into the Constitution as a compromise between electing a president by a vote of Congress or by a vote of citizens. It gives voters of more populated states a smaller say in an election than voters in smaller states. Thus a president can be elected even if he or she loses the popular vote, as happened in 2000 (Bush vs. Gore). This is clearly undemocratic and should be ended.

People leaving the work force or 'retiring' before they planned who have 10 years or less to Medicare should be able to purchase insurance through COBRA until age 65 when REAL healthcare coverage begins. Additionally, if within 10 years of Medicare Eligibility, one forced out of insurance should be able to purchase insurance through COBRA or reasonably priced policies from the 'exchange' for more than 18 months and until Medicare eligible. While losing a job at any age is not a pleasant experience, an unexpected job loss at an age when many have preexisting conditions can be devastating in many ways, including healthcare coverage. Not that COBRA is cheap, it is FAR cheaper than premiums for those with preexisting conditions that have real needs to be covered. Having to pay anything, especially MUCH MORE than the COBRA costs is just one more slap in the face of a willing, formerly hardworking person and their dependents.

I pay property taxes for a mobile home purchased in 2004 for $69,000 and was denied General Relief help when I had lost my income. If the mobile home is not worth $50,000+ it is considered "personal property" which makes me ineligible. Yet property taxes are still billed for it? Finally granted S.S.I. of I $854.40 then due to an alleged utility charge error from some prior month I was billed over $900. for rent/utilities for the month of March.

I was a member of the Arizona Society of CPAs (ASCPA) from 2010 to 2012. After my membership was cancelled in July, I asked the ASCPA how my dues were spent, and my request was flatly denied. The organization is thus secretive and insensitive when it should willingly provide this information to a former member who paid dues enabling it to operate, and who is affected by its actions including lobbying on behalf of AZ CPAs.
