• Demand a stop to Voter Suppression
We are all personally affected by a political party whose goal is to prevent people from voting. Voting is the right of every American citizen of age. That's why it's called a "democracy."

  • Constitutional Amendments-Campaign Financing and Congressional Term Limits
1.Political campaign financing should only come from public funds, and all donors must be listed as a matter of public record. 2. U.S. Senator and House Representative term should only be 4 years. Each Congressman or Congresswoman can only serve 3 terms total in any combination of the Senate or House of Representatives. These two issues affects every U.S. citizen. It will inhibit corruption and will force each Congressperson to work for and serve the U.S. population rather than serve their own interests.

This is a way to end lobbyist money and special interest groups buying politicians. We all have been affected by this corruption.

  • Immigration–our U.S. roots
My grandparents arrived here 100 years ago as poor immigrants, willing to work hard to find a better, safer life than in Czarist Russia; they became citizens, all of us, except for Native Americans, came from somewhere else to this country, and were welcomed; we are basically all descendants of immigrants.Yet today, hundreds of thousands of hard-working people are denied the right to enter this country legally, to apply for residency (unless they have $500,000 to invest) or to follow the path that our ancestors did. I'm calling on the government to finally tackle the issue of immigration in a humane and decent way instead of making it a political hot potato.

  • NO UNFUNDED MANDATES
Petition is to stop unfunded mandates by Federal government and by State government. If these levels of government want something done, fund it. Otherwise local budgets already "set" as in the case of County Commissioners, Town Councils and/or School Boards are put in a real bind. I have lived with this many times at the local level and it is disruptive in ways you can scarcely imagine! Fund it or forget it!

  • Equal Benefits
Give Female Veterans the equal benefits that their male counter parts get. While Male may get 100% benefits, Female get 40-60% for the same benefit. They should get the same benefits. And they shouldn't have to jumps through hoops to get it.

  • Move future power transmission lines underground
The resistance to overhead transmission lines is immense, and is causing delays in much needed transmission upgrades, that will improve grid reliability and damage tolerance, reduce the need for new generation, and enable much greater utilization of wind power, solar power, and locally sited small generators (such as combined heat and power generation and other home energy systems). We need the transmission upgrades, but want these new lines to go underground. We ask that the US Department of Energy make it a priority to find a cost effective way to move large transmission lines underground, and that congress find a way to incentivize underground power transmission.

  • End Dogfighting and Puppy Mills
There must be stronger laws for animal welfare. I just saw a picture of a dog used as bait in a dog fight and it is heartbreaking that we live in a country that allows this to continue. Also, individuals are making tax-free income operating inhumane puppy mills and selling puppies over the Internet and pet stores. Legislators don't take animal welfare seriously enough to help end animal abuse which is sad because people that abuse animals often abuse children and spouses. Individuals that participate in dog fighting often are involved in drugs and other illegal activity. This hurts all of us not just the animals. I'm asking The White House and members of Congress to step up to animal abuse. Thank-you

  • Preserve the Mortgage Interest Tax Deduction
We are a retired military family. After 26 years of service to our country, we were finally able to put down roots and become home owners. The weakened economy has caused my husband to be downsized twice since he retired. Although he is thankfully employed again, the loss of the Mortgage Interest Deduction will increase our tax burden by thousands of dollars. It will have a significant impact on our finances and those of many middle class families. I call on the President, and the lawmakers of both Houses to retain this essential deduction for struggling middle class families who wish fervently to keep their homes.

  • Secretary Husted: Reinstate board of election members
Secretary of State Husted fired Thomas Ritchie, Sr. and Dennis Lieberman for not rescinding their votes to add weekend voting hours. But he said he found no pleasure in doing so. Now, a federal judge has upheld their votes and Secretary Husted has agreed not to challenge that decision. Secretary Husted should reinstate them, so they can continue their service to Ohio.
