• Support State Laws for Marijuana Use
When a state or town decides to legalize marijuana at any level, the federal government and Drug Enforcement Agency should deprioritize prosecution of federal marijuana offenses in that locale.

I have worked with the Navy and feel strongly against using high frequency sonar that could injure or kill marine mammals. It is the Navy's job to see to it that they work with the ocean rather than destroy it.

  • Full support of ACA in deleware
After the decision of SCOTUS to uphold the constitutionality of the ACA we need to make sure we do everything we can to keep things moving and help ensure that individual state legislatures follow through with the expansion of their Medicaid/Medicare programs to comply with the goals outlined in the ACA. Many working class families have been financially strained due to high medical bills. My own family is an example of this. When I was 17 I had several brain surgeries due to a life threatening condition known as AVM's. Not being able to afford health insurance the medical bills quickly climbed into the millions which bankrupted my family. Not only did this cause the financial ruin of my family the bankruptcy also made it so that the hospital bills did not get paid. We paid everything we could but it was nowhere close to the amount owed. The ACA helps ensure that this financial ruin does not come to other families in need of medical care and all states should comply and fully support the ideals laid out within said act. It's also hard for me to find insurance now, which is absolutely needed as many other health issues have arisen in the years since my original surgeries, but since this is considered a pre-existing condition insurance companies do not want to take me on. Since my family never fully recovered financially none of us are in the position to purchase healthcare anyway and I make 30 dollars more a month than the poverty level needed to receive Medicaid. So I have to make the best of it and pick and choose which doctors to see and meds to take. I want to ensure that no family should have to face these problems ever again. No family should have to choose between eating and receiving quality healthcare, nor should they face bankruptcy and total financial ruin for the rest of their lives. Just as the hospitals and doctors shouldn't have to worry about not getting paid for their services while trying to help people. No one should be turned down for health insurance because they are already sick and need healthcare immediately. Whatever we can do to help this much needed reform along should be done quickly to prevent this from happening to other hardworking, normal, American families. This is something I feel very strongly about and that is why I am starting this petition. We can not just sit apathetically thinking that since the major hurdle has been crossed everything will fall into place on its own. We need to work quickly to ensure as many states as possible are going along with the ACA and keep pressure on legislatures and not lose momentum while we are getting so much support. Keep it moving, make it stronger, try to unite as many states we can while it's still in the spotlight. This is a good idea but it's our jobs as citizens and Americans to make this country a better place for all other citizens. The sick and the poor need everyone to join together and show the world that we will not let any American fall through the cracks because they got sick ever again.

  • Mankind's manifest destiny
Presently, the western world is plagued by high unemployment and severe pressures on the middle class. I would propose a new global organization, the Earth Core, that would hire people in high unemployment areas to work on massive environmental projects and ones that would boost world GNP. Many of our problems are global in nature. If something is not done, western nations will be destroyed by huge deficits and unemployment.

Animal control will euthanize cats and ignore the breeding potential causing an ongoing overpopulation of feral cats. the state of florida is currently considering the tnr program as a real solution, practiced throughout the United States and abroad with trmendous success!!

I am stuck with a 6 3/4% interest only mortgage rate that B of A currently services and will not reduce. I am not delinquent, have a high fico score - however the value of my house is underwater and my loan is privately owned. Wells Fargo and Chase have already lowered many of their mortgage rates without any fees or documented income. Why can't B of A do the same?

  • Community Respect
We are private individuals with specific freedoms, yet some cross the boundary as they physically abuse the community with sights and sounds that are not a part of enforcement agenda. If one remains private, the doors and windows are closed not to agitate those who are offended. We are an English Speaking People, and community business should be dialogued in this language, unless legally changed and the public is notified. There is assault and battery that occurs when persons publicly speak on the cell phone, the nature of the language is offensive and harshly abusive. As a public display of ignorance, it needs to stop, and be considered as a felony in the courts, punishable by fine and education. Community Noise levels are rising, especially in late night fireworks which are classified as illegal at any point of the year. Unless one has a permit issued with a notice posted, excessive sound should not allowed in the community. Furthermore, Enforcement by the Police must be imposed, or the State shall impose said fine upon the Management of The Public Safety Department. Immigrants unless certified as legal citizens and residents of the United States of America are temporary visitors, and thus can be reported Immigration Control for potential deportation. We enjoy our Freedom, but Freedom is a Privilege that must be Respected. CC Yanakakis July 5, 2012

  • Coal Hurts - Transition to Renewables
Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) is the largest electric monopoly utility in New Mexico and supplies 60% of its energy needs by the combustion of coal, with adverse affects to our economy, environment and health. Its coal-fired plant releases more than 8.5 million tons of CO2 into the air annually. Commissioned in 1973, this 1800 mega-watt coal plant is one of the dirtiest coal plants in the west and is responsible for smog at 22 national parks and wilderness areas in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah. It is one of America’s largest single sources of nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxides, particulate matter, and other toxins. Now is the time to switch from coal to renewables.

  • No More Gerrymandering
Everyone agrees the legislative branch of our government is dyfunctional. One reason is that Congressional Districts are so carefully drawn (ie. "gerrymandered") by the political parties, only 50 of the 435 seats are really "open election" seats. This stymies the political process and generates idealogues who are not interested in the best interests of the American people.
